"But I am going to be out there 16 weeks this year. I feel good. Offseason work, weight room, conditioning, I feel like it's going to happen this year, I'm going to make sure it does."

It's a hard promise to make, but Texans fans have to like the spirit of it.

Good to hear the confidence from the man under center. Just hope he doesnt jinx himself...yes, Im a little superstitious. But Haynesworth being gone and not playing "Mr. Cheap Shot" from Minnessota this year improves his chances already.

We play Minny in preseason, the 3rd game no less. Jared Allen isn't the only dirty player in the league either.

I don't see much of a reason for Schaub to come out and say something like this but since he did, I'll expect it.

I'm going to hold Schaub to his word, and if he breaks it I will violently scream obscenities at the television!

*Fingers crossed*

I guess this is no different than Yao Ming saying he wanted to play all 82 games last year. No one thought he would do it, but it is nice to hear.

File Schaub's promise under the label of "Meaningless Cliche Talk."

Not ragging the person who started the thread, just saying that Schaub cannot possibly guarantee that he's going to be on the field all season.

If he will throw the ball away when nothing's there, or scramble just a little bit and get rid of the ball instead of trying to string out the play some more, then he stands a good chance.

But that doesn't take into account a blown block on a blitzing play that catches him on his blind side, or him scrambling and getting a sprained knee/ankle, or a pile of dlinemen who tumble and roll into a knee. Or throwing the ball and banging his finger on a helmet. Too many goofy things can happen for him to tell us that he's not going to be off the field this season.

Matt: Just do all you can do. Be that QB we saw in the last half of the season.

What's the point in going from nobody expecting it to everyone expecting it? Putting the pressure on yourself shouldn't make it any easier. Which footballer exactly cares what the fans think anyway? If they did OD, Demeco and Dunta would all be in camp right now.

maybe our new center will not suck like the last one and help make the o line stable

the best way to protect your QB is have a solid O line

The reason that Schaub speaks with such confidence is that the Texans have negotiated a contract with original armour manufacturer for ROBOCOP as a "guaranteed" protection of the QB. They have promised it's efficacy with only "some" limitations of mobility. The Texans are indeed much more confident in Schaub's ability to stay on the field. There have been problems that have been encountered due to the weight of the protective equipment. However, the Texans have been working on the problem of getting Schaub OFF the field without a "delay of penalty" call. They feel that this should be worked out during TC.........or, at least, in time for the beginning of the season.
