Kris Brown gets 4 year extention

:whew I saw the name in the title and about peed my pants.

Good for KB! I'm happy for him and happy he's still a Texan. He's definitely turned it around since he struggled a few season's back.

Wonder how Demeco, Daniels, and Robinson feel about Kris Brown getting extended first. Guess it shouldn't matter since it's like 1/5 of what they're trying to get. Glad to see Kris get extended though, he's always been a team player. He missed the FG in San Francisco week 17 of the 2005 season that secured us the #1 pick in the draft and then turned it around and helped us win some key games in 2007 and 2008 (Miami with the 3 50+ FGs, Only win against Indy, etc).

From what I have been reading they should all be thrilled with this move because we are rewarding a guy from within (unless that was all BS). I like the timing of this move, I doubt it was intentional but it looks like the Texans are saying we aren't scared to hand out the cash to our own players, just have a little patience. It is just the kicker but he has been a good one for us.

Good for Kris !!....plus it'll keep Diapher making infrequent visits down here to keep Texan Bill in line!! :whip:

In line? She only adds fuel to the burning fire, LOL!

Congrats, Kris!

But, I think the Texans may need a bail-out next year!!!

This should be a heads-up for OD, his wake-up call. He (or maybe his agent), has this thought that's he's some kind of all-world talent because he happen to go to Honolulu when one of the Pro-Bowl regulars called in sick. It was really just a fluke you know. Obviously Brown signed because he and his agent are reasonable men, and OD & his probably aren't. The country, the whole world is gripped in the worse economic downturn since the '30s. Wake-up boy, take the deal !
D-Rob ? Use him as you see fit this year, then when you're done with him, F-Tag him again and trade the sukker for everthing you can get.
DeMeco is different, he's the man on the Texans D and if they have to make him the highest paid inside LB (4-3 or 3-4) in the NFL, I say give the man his money.

I might be going out on a limb here, but I reckon there are several deals on the table being worked on at the same time. I highly doubt it matters who might sign first. Additionally, I'd think it'd be a little easier working out a kickers contract vs a position player.

Nice ASSumption.

BTW, why does D-Ryans deserve to get paid moreso than OD? Comparatively speaking, D-Ryans didn't have as good of a year as OD did. OD has progressed each season while D-Ryans has yet to out produce his rookie season. I most definitely think D-Ryans should be extended, but I would not put him before OD.

nunusguy i really don't understand your reasoning behind all your cynicism. just because the economy isn't good doesn't mean that OD doesn't deserve to get paid. this is his job. us fans tend to look at it as a loyalty business when, in reality, this is how they put food on the table. A LOT of REALLY expensive food but food none the less. he's a key part of this offense as D-Rob and DeMeco are key parts of our defense. they all should be given multi-year extensions because they all deserve them through their hard work and leadership, not to mention the production they give us on sundays.

Good for Kris.

I can't think of another Texans kicker that deserved it more than him (sarcasm).

Guess we'll see Diapher around for another 4 years!!

Wow, V. Sure wish you were my employer. BTW, it is not an issue of whether OD should get paid but how much. Info is he was offered #2 TE in NFL money and turned it down. Sure get what you can and most fans expect and even support that.. to a point. Most of us think OD and DR have gone past that point.

Of course they all deserve contract extensions because of their play, but are they worth the money they're asking for? If Owen Danials wants #2 TE money you have to ask yourself if James Casey & Anthony Hill can replace him. Same thing with D-rob & Ryans. Can their replacements step in and play close to as good as they do? If you pay them all top 5 money for their positions the Texans are going to be in cap hell pretty soon.

I like it! Seems like the last couple of years the guy has been about as automatic as it gets. Glad to see him sticking around.

just because the economy isn't good doesn't mean that OD doesn't deserve to get paid.

You may right, it may not be that relevant. But it may be. There's so much turmoil in business & the economy these days and then the NFL has its own special set of issues with the uncertainty of reaching a new CBA in the next year or two, its probably my conservative nature but I'd take the money and run.
See I really don't think OD is an elite athlete or an elite football player, now or potentialy. He just made the most of a very good situation for himself. He's a tweener who'd be a backup on many teams because he's so undersized.
If he's holding out for more than 15 million guaranteed, I think he's making a
big mistake.

That kick gave us Mario Williams

I like KB always have, thought not everyone on this board has. I think a couple of years ago (maybe more) there were a number of people who wanted rid of the guy.

A couple years ago Kris was plagued with injuries not many on this board knew about. He came through for us anyway, and those injuries were in his foot and leg. He is the ultimate trooper, and we all should be proud to have him here for the rest of his career.

As for Diapher, aka Marcie! I think she's become a lifetime friend to some of us, regardless of what Kris does. If we can get her off Farmtown, maybe we can get her back here to stir the pot some more. :stirpot:

Is it football season yet???

Considering how so many people thought Reggie Bush was the obvious number one overall pick, the Texans likely would have gotten Mario even with the second pick.

Either way, it's great that we got him.

I agree.

The Saints needed a marketing campaign, to revive their fan base and inject excitement. They would not have turned down Reggie Bush at No. 1.

I don't think we would have picked 2nd if that kick was good. We would have had the same record as SF and they would have picked before us due to the tiebreaker.

That is, if I remember correctly.

It was New Orleans, Tennessee and the Jets behind us. Only New Orleans was one win away from us so it would have went to them, us, TN. San Fran picked 6th.

SF would have picked before the Texans had they beaten them back in 2005. They both would have had three wins.

Yeah, but if SF had lost to us then there would have been 3 teams at 3-13, Hou, NO, SF. SF would have picked before us since we beat them. If NO took Bush #1 then SF would most likely have taken Mario or Dbrick #2 since they drafted Smith the year before.

Good point about the records. Then strength of schedule would have made Houston behind SF. Don't know if they would have taken Mario or not.
