HOUSTON - Former Houston Texans long snapper Bryan Pittman has reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks according to his agent Kevin Gold.

Pittman signed as a free agent with the Texans in September of 2003. He played in 92 games for Houston, appearing in every game for the Texans after he signed with the club until he had to serve his suspension last season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

"We've agreed to a one-year deal and Bryan has already begun working out in the Seahawks offseason program," said Kevin Gold, Pittman's agent.

"Seattle is his home town and Bryan is excited about his new opportunity. He wants to put the events of last year behind him."

Pittman, who played college football at the University of Washington, was one of six players suspended by the NFL in 2008 for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Pittman maintained he took a weight-loss medication that his doctor prescribed for him and that he never took steroids which his attorney said was substantiated during the appeal process.

Pittman lost his appeal because the weight-loss medication is on the NFL's list of banned substances and had to serve a four-game suspension.

He had a string of 598 consecutive successful snaps broken in 2007.

Glad to see he cought on someplace. Hopefully he can put his history behind him and succeed. Well, except they play us, of course.

I hope he has great games against the Texans too. I don't fear the long snapper.

:)

It would be embarrassing to get beat by a perfect snap to the punter.

"Man, we had 'em. Next thing you knew Pittman made that snap and game over. Crap!"

I see it more as a scenario where Hasselback and Wallace both go down injured, 13 seconds left, down by 4 on the 30yd line.

They turn to Pittman.... "Your in".

He takes the shotgun snap, turns around and long snaps it for a 30yd strike for the touchdown.

Game Over.....

Actually it's great that he is playing for Seattle. Maybe he can throw something that the place holder botches like he did when he played for us.
