The Return to Houston...

Sideline

Hey Guys, Great News!

I am finally going to be making my way back down to the fine state of Texas this year. I will be coaching Football at a summer camp in Boston from June to mid August after which I am going to be travelling around basically following the baseball season, Going to see the Red Sox, Mets, Yankees, Nationals and Phillies games while seeing the sites along the way.

I have booked my return flight from Houston mid september so I will be coming down for hopefully 10days or so after I have done my travelling. I am hoping to be in Houston in time for the Vikings pre-season game on MNF. How easy will it be for me to get tickets for that one? I know pre-season games are usually pretty easy but with it being MNF will that make a difference?

I cannot wait to get out there and see all you guys again, this summer is going to be unreal. Hope your all doing well.

That is great news!!

I bet someone in Blue Crew can get your back for that game. ;)

Hey Sideline, We will be in Canton at the Hall of Fame fron july 30th to august 3rd. It would be great to see you in Canton and if your going to be able to make I would really need to know ahead of time so I can set you up. Anywho it will be great to see you again. Man I bet we have the most fans across the pond.

Good news indeed Sideline. I look forward to seeing you. I don't know for sure, but a pre-season ticket, even a Monday night one, should be available from various sources. Probably will carry a bit of a premium do to the Monday night thing.

Yeah guys I cannot wait. Wow Joe that would really have been sweet but I am afraid I am still working at that point, I don't break camp until August 19th, should be down in H-Town a couple of weeks after that. No I wasn't there when we beat the Colts, I was there when we lost to them in Schaubs first season, we went into the game 2-0 and narrowly lost out. Jacoby returned the opening kick to the house.

I'm not sure yet If I am going to be on my own or if my buddy who is working at another camp in Indianna is going to come down to meet me. How difficult would it be for me to buy a couple of tickets near the time, I really don't want to take anyones ticket away from them. Hoping to hit some High School and UH games as well while im over. Cannot Wait!

Yankee, I am 21 at last! Does this mean its time to party?....Texas Style?

I am pretty sure you can get something short of the Sidelinesin tickets Just get over here

Got my US Visa last week so we are good to go, I fly out to start work in 4 weeks then should be down to houston towards the end of August! Not long now!

Quick question guys on getting around the States, not sure If anyone can give me some pointers.

I will be up in the New York area watching Baseball when I finish working and I then am coming down to Houston as I already mentioned my flight is booked back to England from Houston mid September. But I am just working out the best and cheapest ways to get down to Houston, obviously there is the option of flying but I wondered if it would be cheaper and more intresting way to get down ie. catch a bus or train from city to city from the east coast area down to Texas or would that be more expensive/long/not pheasable?

Any help is appreciated guys.

Depends on how much time you have Andy. If it was me, I would drive from NY to Houston and see the sites along the way. LONG drive, but, if you have a driving partner and take your time, you have a great opportunity to see some beautiful real estate in the good old USA. Just don't get caught up in the beauty of the Smokies and decide to become a meatball fan! :)

BTW: Are you still planning on the Vikes game? Are you coming alone or with a buddy? I have one front row Bullpen ticket with your name on it for the Vikes game if you want it. If you bring a buddy I am sure we can find a seat close by, or maybe even on the front row with you. Just let me know and we'll see what can be done.

It'll be GREAT to see ya again!

Newark to Houston - Continental

If you can get to Philly. Philly to Houston - Southwest Airlines.

Dunno about train travel, but if you have the time it would be pretty cool.

Thanks for the heads up on the flights, I am going to look into train or coach travel see how long and how much it would cost as It would be nice to see some more of the country while I am over. Although just flying down is probably going to be the easiest option I guess.

Out of interest 'Smokies and decide to become a meatball fan' what are the smokies and who are the meatballs? lol I've sent you a PM about the tickets, thanks alot for that means alot.

I Cant wait to get over there.

lol. I got you covered Gma =)

Smokies refer to the Smoky mountain area that includes Tennessee and meatball fan is referring to the Tennessee Titans and their crappy logo that looks like a flaming meatball.

Haha, ah right, thanks for clearing that up, and there is no worries about me getting caught up in the 'smokies', Can't beat Texas.

I would come straight down to Houston, but I am going to be trying to hit as many Baseball games on the east coast as I can while I am up there, Mets,Yankees, Phillies etc, and If I were to come straight down to Houston it would mean I'd have to watch the Astros :heh:

Andy, if you have a little time on hand, there are a couple of ways to travel besides flying. It's rather inexpensive, too!

1. Take the Amtrak train down to New Orleans, party there, then take another one or the Greyhound bus from N.O. to Houston.

The Crescent is the one you want to look for from NY to NO, then the Sunset from N.O. to Houston.

2. If you have an extra day, I would suggest that you take the Amtrak down to Jacksonville Florida (the Silver Star). There's no train service for a certain trek between Fla and TX, so you will have to take the Greyound bus to Houston.

Also there's a six-mile distance between the train and bus station in JAX (about 6 miles), but there's enough time in between, you can even walk from one to the other, LOL!

Actually, for the last ten-twelve years, the 'Stros 'been among the best in September! :wild:

I can only hope that trend continues. :brando:

That is awesome dude, thanks alot for getting those details for me. I am going to do some research into everything and really try and make a trip like that, I have nothing but time on my hands when I get out there I can just keep going until my money runs dry so hopefully I'll be able to do something like this so I can see more of the country.

Also being the best in September won't mean a thing this year when they are well out of the race :D

Here in the USA now, up in New Hampshire working. Having a real blast. Can't wait to be down in Texas little over a month now until I get a chance to get down there.

Hope everyone is doing good.

Glad you made it. Will you be here for any of the training camp open sessions?
