cold blooded... from the national football post

However, he lacks command and a presence that’s essential in the starting quarterback. He doesn’t have an ability to make the team believe he’s “the man” and will hold the other players accountable. When a team doesn’t get its leadership and, to a large degree, its personality from the starting quarterback, it must have great leaders in other areas of the team to compensate.

Where does this information magically come from? I have heard several players talk about Matt's leadership such as getting down in Carolina, walking into the huddle and saying, "OK we got them right where we want them."

Swagger? Body language? Crystal ball?

I might consider that his injuries have hampered his leadership since "you can't lead from the training room", but that would be a marginal argument without something else to back it up.

There's a lot of stuff in that article that I can't disagree with - but the stuff about Matt not being a leader is GARBAGE.

*Yawn* this goes along the same thinking when everyone but us KNEW mario was the wrong pick.

Tell em go play in traffic.

I'd say Matt's leadership is arguably his strongest attribute. Look at the poise he showed in the games where we needed him to come up big in pressure situations, he's ice under pressure. That's a quality only a handful of quarterbacks in this league has.

Yup - you think this offense has confidence in Matt to lead them down the field for a 4th quarter come from behind win? - I bet they do.

Yeah, Schaub has flaws, but he's a freakin leader.

We watched our "Matt Schaub becomes a leader" moment when he came back from being injured last season and then led the team on that little 3-1 stretch at the end. I think everyone who was actually watching the Texans saw a different QB return from that Jared Allen cheap shot. I frankly thought he was probably going to come back shaky but he went into Green Bay and lit the place up.

This man doesn't know what he's talking about but in his defense neither does the guy he's making fun of for picking the Texans. They're both uninformed and basing their choices on the wrong reasons. Bowen is picking the Texans to try and make the Cinderella pick. If you're right then you can throw it in everyones faces when it happens and if you're wrong you pretend it never happened and nobody remembers you wrote that. The other guy is just as lazy. He's using the "Texans defense will suck because its always sucked" argument.

As strongly as most on the team might feel that Schaub is a "leader," they undoubtedly worry, "freak accidents" or not, about his ability to stay on the field.

My main issue with the piece wasn't when he said Schaub "isn't a leader"...(even though that's crap). It's when he said...

When a team doesn’t get its leadership and, to a large degree, its personality from the starting quarterback, it must have great leaders in other areas of the team to compensate. Unfortunately for the Texans, I don’t see leadership or inspiration coming from anyone on the offensive or defensive side of the ball

Okay, so even if we buy the load of crap opinion that Schaub isn't a leader.....we're also supposed to buy that Andre Johnson isn't a leader? Sorry, that's absolute CRAP.

I agree with most of the posts here, Matt has proven to be a hell of a leader, this guy just doesn't know what he is talking about.

Kyle Shanahan should cut this article out or print it out and hang it in Matt's locker.

Did anyone read the comments. Matt Bowen picks the Saints and Texans in the Super Bowl. :d:

As for the drivel, anything written or said by Lombardi goes in one ear and out the other with me. The guy has zero credibility in my book. I would trust something written by a 5 yr old about the Texans than that jerk. :devilpig:

I would love a Saints Texans superbowl. Wow!

I would say the one positive out of this story is bad news (however inaccurate it may be) is better than no news. It wasnt that long ago when we'd go nearly the entire off season with zilch as far as dumb pundant talk is concerned. We're obviously starting to turn some heads down here.

I totally agree, when Matt came back in Green Bay he was totally different. It was like someone flipped a switch, I think that was when he made that second year improvement that good QB's make.

My ideal matchup?

Super Bowl XLIV: Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans

My ideal matchup would be:

Houston Texans vs. Dallas Cowboys

Everyone of my family members (besides me) would probably be rooting for the girls. I would love for the Texans to beat them by 25+ points just to rub it in. :brando:

When he talks about our pass rush he ignores Barwin. I don't know what Barwin is going to do for us, but he could atleast acknowledge the fact that we addressed the pass rush need. He also doesn't highlight the Antonio Smith signing enough. A guy who is versatile enough to play DE on 1st and 2nd and move to DT on 3rd down? Sounds like a good addition to the pass rush to me.
