Some running backs to look at...

Ian Johnson, Boise State
Kory Sheets, Purdue
Rodney Ferguson, New Mexico
Herb Donaldson, Western Illinois
Marlon Lucky, Nebraska

What about Graham Harrell? Before Tech was exposed by OU he was all the rage. Actually I am very surprised he was not drafted.

Ian Johnson ran in a ZBS all throughout college....low mileage.....can catch the ball (3rd down back?), has adequate speed i think this is a fit

So we pick at 15(UDFA)? How many UDFA's can Kubiak call to try out? Someone please fill me in...thanks:jogger:

I think you can get as many as you want, providing they agree to sign with you. The Texans historically dont pick up that many, 5-7 sounds about right. I am hoping for the 12-15 range.

The Texans need to bring in Chris Baker (DT) & Phillip Hunt (DE) & take a look at them.

I see Alex Boone didn't get drafted. Wasn't he projected to be a 1st to early 2nd round pick last year? What happened?

Low Mileage? Hes had a significant injuries throughout his career. How come Cushing is called injury prone and Johnson somehow isnt?

Positives: Very good vision. Anticipates the hole and attacks it. Runs a bit high, but lowers his shoulders around defenders and isn't afraid of contact. Keeps his legs driving to fight for the tough yards, but is more of a finesse runner whose lateral quickness and quick acceleration generates the bulk of his production. Slippery runner who breaks a lot of tackles. Deceptive speed for his upright running style and has quick acceleration. May lack elite breakaway speed, but gets to top speed quickly and can separate from the initial wave of defenders to gain yardage in chunks. Developing receiver who catches the ball cleanly and quickly turns upfield.

Negatives: Staggering sophomore production influenced by Boise State's offense. Unusual build for a running back, as Johnson has narrow shoulders and hips. Lacks elite timed speed. Runs a bit upright, leading to unnecessary punishment. Struggled with injuries as a sophomore and junior, leading to a decrease in playing time and raising questions about his durability. Has missed all or significant portions of games throughout his career due to a variety of injuries, including a punctured lung, bruised kidneys and torn knee ligaments. Will need an extensive medical check.

I don't think Cushing is injury prone when did I say that....and I said Johnson has low mileage meaning he hasn't had a full workload in 2 years he's split carries

Boone is reportedly an alcoholic.

I would also like the team to find another running back. I just don't like the idea of having to rely on Chris Brown... :headhurts:

I want to see the Texans sign him and let him compete with Alex Brink for the 3rd spot.

His arm just isn't strong enough for the NFL.

I recently saw video of him trying to throw on the run at the combine. It was awful. Looked like a bunch of wounded ducks struggling to float 20 yards downfield. That's what killed him.

Good luck to him with Carolina though.

Foster is a decent sized back from Tennessee. He was a lot bigger when he was playing, but apparently dropped about 10 lbs during the time between the end of the season and the combine. He was a pretty good player as a young guy and probably suffered more from the lack of talent on the Tennessee roster than anything else.

Anyway if it is true that we got him then I love it because we need another body on the depth chart at RB. 3 would just not cut it.

According to the above linked site Jerimiah Johnson has not signed or been claimed by anyone. Also they list the Jags as signing 18 UDFA opposed to our 3.

Jags are desperate. We aren't.

You aren't going to save your franchise with UDFA's.
