Surprised to see Rashad Johnson still up there. He does everything well, and some things spectacularly well.

I wish we had a bunch of 3rd rounders. So much talent left.

I like him as well as the RB out of Virginia, Peerman. I'm not sure if he's exactly what the Texans are looking for though.
Coffee is a one cut runner who gets up the field quickly. He has good size and runs for the tough yards. Kinda Marion Barberesque.

Haven't watched much of Coffee Vinny. I hear that he is a bruiser though.

I'm really hoping that we can somehow land Shonn Greene. The guy is going to be really really good. Rashad Johnson would be nice as well. I think we have no choice but to address the RB situation with our next pick.

I was referring to Peerman as not being exactly what the Texans were looking for, but after re-reading my post I see it didn't come across very clear.

As to Coffee you've got to love a RB who's tough enough to battle it out with SEC defenses.

I was kind of thinking the same way until I read the Chron article where Dunta talks about holding out during camp. I think we need to pick up a CB in the 3rd round and get ourselves positioned for Dunta leaving.

I'm thinking we can handle things at CB for the moment with Reeves, Bennett and Molden going forward and Robinson the rest of this year.

Just take what the draft gives us and lets not reach for need.

3rd round guys I'd like to see available:
Shonn greene
R. Jennings
J. Ringer
G. Coffee
J. Luigs
A. Caldwell
C. Vaughn
DJ Moore
J. Ringer
J. Meredith

If we can get Jennings or Greene Dale, than I'm happy. We've got to address the RB situation with the next pick for sure.

For the 4th round, if Roy Miller is available that would be nice to add to the depth at DT or Quan Cosby could possibly be a really sweet pick with one of our 4th rounders if he is there. Iglecias from Oklahoma might be enticing as well if he is there.

It's going to be fun tomorrow watchng Jerry Jones and Belichik manuver around in the third and four rounds. I'm really surprise Quinn Johnson has worked himself up so high.

Thanks for the list.

Anyone able to tell me if any of the punters are actually worth drafting in the 6th or 7th or should I just hope we can get one of them as an UFA?

I like Iglesias and Robinson from OU, Miller from Texas, and either of the 3 RB's Coffee, Greene, or Peerman.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow how the feel about Myers and White and Studdard. We didn't panic and there is a herd of RBs left. I like Duke Robinson...I've been told Herman Johnson is a "fit". We'll see. Jamad Meritdeth seems like a ZBS guy to me....Left guard who swings to OLT....different to be sure. The guards with a shot kinda got gobbled up didn't they? C/G guys got gobbled up too.

I would draft this guy in the 6th

Graham Gano P FLORIDA ST
01/29/2009 - Along with all the Super Bowl festivities in the area, the 11th Annual College All-Star Football Challenge was hosted at the University of Tampa this past Monday. The placekickers took part in both accuracy and distance competitions. West Virginia's Pat McAfee won the accuracy competition, in which kickers had to make field goals from distances of 40-55 yards. Florida State's Graham Gano won the long distance competition, kicking a field goal of 54 yards to win the event. In warm ups Gano was routinely making field goals of 60+ yards. Gano is both a placekicker at FSU as well as a punter, which should greatly raise his NFL draft stock. He also won the Lou Groza award during the regular season, which honors the nation's top placekicker. Pittsburgh's Connor Lee and Utah's Louie Sakoda also took part in these events. - Sam Gerb, The Minaret Online

01/06/2009 - The special teams units for the Senior Bowl have been finalized. Somehow, the top placekicker in the nation didn't make the cut. FSU kicker/punter and former Tate High standout Graham Gano, fresh off a record-setting senior season capped with the Lou Groza Award, became a Senior Bowl snub when the special teams rosters were announced on Monday. Gano made 24 of 26 field goals in 2008 while leading the nation in field goals per game (2.18) and leading all kickers scoring 9.55 points a game. He made a school-record 18 straight field goals, tied for the national lead in field goals made (24) and led the country with five made kicks from at least 50 yards. That resume was enough to earn him an invite to February's NFL Combine in Indianapolis ??? an invite he received on Monday ??? but not enough to get him into the game in Mobile, Ala. "I would have liked to play in it," Gano said. "I was hoping I would get a chance to play in it since my senior year in high school." Considered the top postseason all-star game in terms of NFL prospect evaluation, the only chance Gano has to earn a Senior Bowl spot now would be if an invited special teamer dropped out or suffered an injury. Even then, the Senior Bowl committee would have to choose Gano as the best replacement. - D.C. Reeves, PNJ.com

I wish we wouldve taken Michael Johnson in the 2nd. We won't take him now since we took Barwin already.

you should go watch some of Connor Barwin's reel. Maybe after that you can watch some of Johnson. After that, you could come back to this thread and tell us why you've changed your mind. Barwin is explosive as hell.

Definitely don't think we will look at DE or LB. I see RB, CB, S and OL from here on out. Maybe a WR/PR kind of flyer.

I could definitely settle for two Alabama boys in the next couple rounds (Johnson/Coffee).

Some of the guys I hope we look at: Rashad Johnson, Andre Brown, Glenn Coffee, Gartrell Johnson, Roy Miller, Keenan Lewis, Bradley Fletcher, DJ Moore, Chip Vaughn

Herman Johnson is definitely intruiging.

I have said ir before and Ill say it again. I would draft H Johnson and put him in in short yardage situations on offense and defense. Show me a center in the NFL that could push him back.

Ok with a very limited survey of what is left, this is who I have an eye on for the next two rounds.

C - Antoine Caldwell, Alabama
C - Jonathan Luigs, Arkansas
DT - Dorell Scott, Clemson
CB - Kevin Barnes, Maryland
CB - Asher Allen, Georgia
CB - Victor Harris, Virginia Tech
S - Rashad Johnson, Alabama
S - Chris Clemons, Clemson
S - Chip Vaughan, Wake Forrest
RB - Andre Brown, North Carolina State

^ just to add to the above, id like to have

rb rashad jennings
rb gartrell johnson
S Michael Hamlin
OG Tyronne Green

Players I think the Texans would have interest in:

3rd Round

Shonn Greene – RB – Iowa - Who really cares if he doesn't possess breakaway speed? A thumper who can bring the safeties up.
Andre Brown – RB – North Carolina State – This guys runs angry and has as much pure talent as any back in this draft. His best football is ahead.
Rashad Jennings – RB – Liberty – A big back with some finesse to his game. A good receiver, reminds of a raw Matt Forte.
Chip Vaughn – SS – Wake Forest – An in the box SS who has enough range. Reminds me of former Oiler Keith Bostic, who was a fierce blitzer.
Antoine Caldwell – C/G – Alabama – A big time SEC blocker who would be a more physical alternative than what the Texans currently employ at Center.

4th Round
Michael Hamlin – FS/SS – Clemson – Big hitter who has played both safety spots. More likely a SS in the NFL.
Courtney Greene - FS/SS - Rutgers – Another combo safety with good size. Like Hamlin, a 4-year starter who is better in a zone than in man coverage.
Jonathan Luigs - C - Arkansas – 4 year starter who is an excellent fit for a zone blocking team. Very experienced in snapping from the shotgun.
Cedric Peerman -RB – Virginia – Decent inside runner, who displayed good hands while in a pro-style offense. May have fumbling and injury concerns.
Chris Baker – DT – Hampton – Large NT who displays good quickness. Began his career at Penn State.

5th Round
Brandon Fletcher – CB – Iowa – Late bloomer who excelled at the East-West Shrine game (a favorite scouting locale for the Texans). Has the metrics Rick Smith loves.
Tyronne Green – G – Auburn – Athletic SEC lineman who began career as a DT. A nice project for Alex Gibbs.
Sammie Lee Hill – DT – Stillman – Huge, small college DT that played in the Shrine game. Nuff said.
Ladarius Webb – CB – Nicholls State – Small school DB with a knack for big plays. Smaller than Texans prefer, but has return ability.

6th Round
Greg Toler – CB – St. Paul's – Another small school corner who had a great pro day. Is on the Texans radar.
Lance Louis – G – San Diego State – Ex-TE who had a terrific pro day. Another Gibbs project.
Roger Allen – LB – San Diego State – Another Aztec prospect, has played all LB spots and started for 4 seasons. Could make the roster because of his versatility and special teams play.
Jason McCourty – CB – Rutgers – Has the size/speed metrics that Rick Smith desires. Has return capabilities.

7th Round
Vaughn Martin - DT - Western Ontario - Huge Canuck that's on the Texan's radar.
Khalif Mitchell – DT – East Carolina – DT project with great measurables.
Kory Sperry – TE – Colorado State – Best C-State Ram available. Was a high school QB (think Wildcat).
Todd Boeckman – QB – Ohio State – Got a raw deal in Columbus. Has to be better than Alex Brink.

Ok with a very limited survey of what is left, this is who I have an eye on for the next two rounds.

Hope Johnson, Jennings, or Brown falls to us. :)

Shanahan said that the Texans were considering running backs Shonn Greene (Iowa) and Glen Coffee (Alabama), but both backs were taken in the third round before the Texans' selection.
The Texans had Coffee on their board. Damn we barely missed him!

Not that we would take any of these guys, but here's an interesting list of guys still available:

1. Rhett Bomar (former OU quarterback)

2. Andre Brown (NC State running back)

3. Ian Johnson (Boise State running back)

4. Gartrell Johnson (CSU running back, Kubiak connection!)

5. Frant Joseph (Florida Atlantic linebacker)

6. Johnny Knox (Abilene Christian University wide receiver)

7. Mike Mickens (Cincinnati corner back)

8. DJ Moore (Vanderbilt corner back)

9. Duke Robinson (OU offensive tackle)

10. DRAFTED BY SAINTS: Chip Vaughn (Wake Forest safety)

DRAFTED BY BROWNS: And Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has a relative (Kaluka Maiava) who is an ILB at Southern Cal. If we want to grab someone related to The Rock.

LOL. What if the Saints picked up a RB right in front of us? Ouch.

Nope, they went with a LB. I just knew they were going to take a RB there.

we don't HAVE to pick a RB yet. I think we should still go defense with this one.

I just think there will be a huge run on RBs: Brown, Gartrell Johnson, Ian Johnson, etc.

There's a RB out of Abilene Christian--Bernard Scott--who might be a good UDFA prospect.

Ill be surprised if Ian Johnson gets drafted. He just isnt an NFL back.
