Yeah. Haha. I've gone on record saying how weak this overall DT class is. I think BJ Raji is a terrible investment in the first round. I don't think he was that good enough on the field to be a first rounder, and I don't think he has much potential left to tap into with his body already filled in very well. I also don't think he "gets it" in any other aspect other than football. I have Raji rated right around where I had Allen Branch rated. Raji reminds me more of Gabe Watson than Allen Branch, but that isn't a good thing even considering how little I thought of Branch.

With that said, next years DT class could be stacked. Austin is a top 10 player from just his first two years. Scary good. I like Cody as a NT, pretty similar to Haloti Nagata. McCoy is a good looking UT from OU as well. It's still early, but I expect Austin to have an amazing year.

I have gone on record multiple times saying how bad of a QB Josh Freeman is and will be. He never once led his team to a bowl game. He was KU's MVP in our game against KSU. I also plain do not like the guy, so I may have a bias to an extent against him. I have just seen too much of Freeman the past 2 years to believe he will be a good QB. He has no mental capacity and is very inaccurate even with all of his potential physical skills.
 
As I've said before: Freeman will get drafted high because he is big and can throw far, not because he can play Quarterback.

Which Smith?
I think Andre Smith is a top 5 talent. I don't know if that will translate to the field with everything else about him, but he is the most talented OT in the class strictly on the field.

I think that if Alphonso Smith were 2 inches higher he would be top 10 overall. I'm not a huge fan of Butler and I'm not sure why he is being talked about at 15. Butler is a generous 5'10, meaning he's got about an inch on Alphonso, but nothing else to speak of on him.

I think Britton is going to take a few years to develop into an NFL caliber player, and those few years are really dependent on who drafts him. If he goes to a team like our Texans or the Bengals, he has no hope of reaching his potential. If he lands on a team like the Giants or Eagles, his chances of developing to his potential are much greater.

I'm aware of that. This isn't a mock draft. This is my view on him, and my view of him is terrible. I would draft Nate Davis in the 4th before I drafted Freeman in the 4th.
 
I am surprised you have Sanchez rated better then Stafford. I think Stafford is a better overall QB who has been battle tested in the SEC. I think Sanchez will have a similar fate to Matt Leinart.

I am also curious as to why you have Andre Smith rated as the best OT despite his terrible combine and lack luster pro day results. Do you think his game day film cancels that all out?

Casey remains an enigma that i have problems with projecting a full time position to, but I have a feeling that New England would be the best fit for him.

Has Ayers really jumped that much up people's boards?

Sanchez seems too high. But I'm just not high on this year's QB class.

That's right about where I have Jenkins ranked. I'm laughing at anybody who thinks he will drop far because of his combine.

I think Maualuga is too high. I just don't think he can make it in the NFL unless he changes his style of play.

I think Orakpo is low but you seem to have all the tweeners ranked lower than the norm.

I'm not that high on Ayers. I like him, but I just don't see a first round player there.

That's the highest I've seen Sidbury.

You have stated your case on Matthews before so I'm not gonna go into that one. Some folks just differ on some players.

You have Tyson Jackson pretty low. I believe he was also low in your last one though.

I don't think Raji is an elite prospect but I still think he is a mid first round guy.

You have Ingram pretty high. Has he ever had to block? Can he?

I haven't seen Donald Washington that high anywhere. He's alright but Texas abused him in the Fiesta Bowl.

I think Sanchez is more athletic and more accurate, but the difference isn't that much. It's just a preference to be honest.

Andre Smith is the best OT simply based on his on-field performance. If he goes to the Bengals as has been projected, he is in trouble. He needs a hard-nosed coach, but he is more talented than any OT in the draft, and the only guy that could potentially push him IMO is Monroe.

Love the feedback by the way from everyone.

I think Maualuga was the LB that made that unit. I think Clay Matthews on any other team doesn't get a sniff at the first day. He gets put on that unit, and he gets noticed. Maualuga made the entire unit better, not the other way around IMO.

Tyson Jackson just didn't produce. He doesn't bring much to the DE spot for most teams. He is a more "in-shape" Marcus Spears. Pretty good if you need him for that one role, but not worth much at all if you don't. I don't care for him in general, so he is low.

I think Ingram can block, but he hasn't really shown much on film. He doesn't really need to in that offense. He has a good frame, but he is ranked highly because he is just like another WR. Great offensive weapon.
 
Interesting positioning.

I agree that Monroe is the best OT in this class.
I haven't dropped A.Smith's grade either. Most draftniks randomly drop a guys grade just because his stock goes down.
Sanchez really shouldn't be that high. He was surrounded by talent in a system that spits out overrated QBs every year.
Rey Rey could be that high for some teams, but for others he's not a first rounder. Depends on what they ask him to do.
Personally I would flip Moreno and Wells.
Cushing seems high at 13.
I agree with the Phonz in the mid teen range; I have him at 18. People watch him play then mark off for being 5'9. They seem to forget that he played that well at 5'9 and isn't suddenly going to shrink when he goes to the NFL.
Sean Smith seems really high. He's got a lot of talent but is really inconsistent and needs work before he can sniff his full potential.
Agree on Michael Johnson. He's a freak of nature and has shown he can get it done when motivated.
I'm really down on Vontae Davis. I don't care how athletic you are if you're not good in coverage, and don't want to work hard to get better.
Agree on the range you have Clay "Jesus" Matthews. The guy is way over hyped on this forum.
Rashad Jennings is a 3rd-4th rounder IMO. He doesn't run as hard as a 230 pounder should. Reminds me too much of former Texan J.Wells.
Everette Brown at 46? I think he's a top 20 pick as a 3-4 OLB, but probably in your range as a DE.
I don't agree on Raji at all.
I don't like Pat Chung. Dude is just not good in coverage. I'd rather draft a linebacker and play them in the same role that he would be effective at.
I have Rashad Johnson rated at #30. He has great instincts, great hands, great range, great leadership, very smart, and is solid everywhere else.

Anyways. That's enough nitpicking.

What has Russell won?

The QB before Russell Won a nat. championship (Matt Mauck). The QB after Russell (Flynn) won a nat.championship.

Flynn also won the bowl game his JR. year (when Russell was hurt).

I dont believe that LSU won a SEC championship during Russell's starting years there.

People are enamored with Russell's arm strength. (I get that), but Russell is anything but a winner.

Al Davis has hitched his fate to the wrong wagon IMO.
 
Interesting stuff. My biggest disagreements are on E. Brown and B.J. Raji. I think they are both great players and are going to wreck havoc in the NFL, Brown as a 4-3 DE and Raji as either a NT or UT.
 
You never know, he could turn himself around. That's the thing about the draft, things can change really quickly. If a guy matures after the draft or if he becomes even more immature after receiving so much money has alot to do with who busts and who shines.

Also coaching always has something to do with how a player turns out. I think alot of us still feel like Carr could have been better with a better situation. Maybe not a good QB but Carr could have atleast been average with AJ IMO. Instead, poor blocking and coaching magnified his inability to read defenses.

I'm not a fan of Freeman and I think if he is drafted by a team with a poor offensive line he will have alot of problems. However, it is possible that he turns it around and becomes a good player because he has the talent.

On another note, I can't wait to see where E Brown goes. 3-4, 4-3? I'm excited to see how that turns out as well as the other hybrid type guys. Orakpo, Maybin, Sintim, English, Matthews, Cushing. Who's defense will they be playing in next year.
