Is It A Message?

Its a little bit of both, Jamie Sharper was more on the business side. Glenn didn't have a horrible year, but it wasn't what we have come to expect from him over the years. And if we hadn't paid Walker all of that money, he'd be gone too. He really needs to earn that money this year. He's been more of a talker than a producer lately. As for Foreman and Brown, I don't think they will be missed, Wong and Earl should be upgrades.

Texans NT Seth Payne says that the recent departure of several key veterans has gotten the attention of the team: "If there was anybody on this team that didn't realize the reality of life in the NFL, they do now. I don't think [the Texans' front office] was trying to send a message, but a message got sent."

well hopefully these moves will wake up these older guys and make them play better.

.. and then?
It's a business decision to send the wake-up call to tell them the honeymoon is over.

How's that? :heh:

Personally, I'm digging the way we're heading... even if it is a slower, more methodical approach.

Really, even if you look at the demeanor that Casserly and Capers have held themselves during these interviews they seem very cut to the chase now. Before you would see smiles and stuff but that certainly don't look to be the case anymore.

The way I see it is the young guys are really going to see that there is a window of opportunity to cash in. Take for instance Gary Walker and Corey Sears and this is just an example.

A guy like Sears sees that Gary is older and cost more. Now Sears could really put forth his efforts and cash in on getting the space Gary is taking. If management were to see this new monster in Sears, "right now" management wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on a guy like Gary Walker.

And for Gary, it is earn that money or get out!!

Either way we get max production out of these guys or they go home.

Glenn certainly seemed to be a leader on this team. I guess the coaches were jealous because they weren't so they fired him in effect. I guess that's tongue in cheek, but I'm not so certain of that. Casserly has done his job for 4 years, but Dom has not. This team goes nowhere until Capers is gone. What little togetherness there was is gone. Remember, its all business, right. That means every player should only be in it for himself. Its only business. I think if look back the great sports dynasties were not just about business. They had a cohessiveness and a loyality aspect to the team.

What about the Patriots... Ty law??? how about Brown ..He took a paycut the last few years and when it became time to get more money, the pats released him..where was the loyalty and reward for him?
heck reason the Patriots are so good (beside their coach) is NFL players will go to the Patriots for a reduced price (compared to going to another team) so they have a chance to get a title.

Arron Glen was not cut by Casserly or Capers. A Glen asked for his release. So the Texans granted his request. To me that is a class organization.

Glenn would still be a Texan if HE wanted to be. :fight: :twocents:

That's right you can't blame the orginazation for granting his request. All people should be lucky enough to work for such a employee friendly company.

I have been an AG fan for a long time. I don't think I am now. When the Texans asked him to be a team player he refused IMO. He could have done what Coleman did last year, granted I don't think he was asked to take a cut in pay.

When the Glenn thing first came out my immediate reaction was

1) Maybe they told him his playing time would be reduced

After hearing Capers and Casserly on the radio that's exactly what happened

2) Maybe they asked him to take a pay cut

According to Casserly they never got around to discussing this

3) Maybe he felt slighted because they traded for Buchanon

He's human so I'm sure he was somewhat irritated by it

So I hear Glenn's interview on 610. He says that he and the Texans parted on good terms. The Texans presented him with the situation and gave him alternatives and he chose to move on for the betterment of both parties.

Now he's in Dallas.

1) His playing time will be reduced. I'm hearing he'll be the nickel back

2) He took a pay cut although he does get a signing bonus it's still less than he would've made here

So I'm asking myself ..... what gives? I like Glenn. In a time when athletes are beating their wives, using steroids, mixing it up with fans, .... he seems like the kind of guy you want your kid to want to be like .....

It seems like he's in the same situation in Dallas that he would have been in here had he stayed and agreed to play nickel. I haven't pored over the Cowboy's schedule but it seems to me he'd have been on the field more here than in Dallas since the Texans play Indy twice, KC, StL, .....

I did hear something in his interview that made me pause .... he has a genuine affection for Demarcus Faggins .... did he do this to allow Faggins on the field more?

or did he do this because of his relationship with Parcells?
or was it because he's human and let emotion decide for him that he'd rather have less playing time somewhere else than less playing time here ...

dunno

I think he thought he would possibly be a late camp cut with Faggins development and Sanders in the fold as a FA signing in the off-season. He sought out a path that allowed him to find a team in time to be in camp and learn their system. I think it is really just as simple as that.

Has anyone ever considered the fact that just maybe AG left so that way our young guys will develop as a unit? Ok so my thinking is much the same as Vinny's.

The only other alternative to Glen's thinking maybe that he believes Parcell's team has a better chance at the playoffs than Caper's team does???? :hmmm:

We can make as many assumptions on why these players are being released. We will never know why. There are sides to different stories and you will not get the whole truth from anyone.

 Personally I don't like cutting these guys because I got to know them off the field but hey what's done is done.
