It's football season!

Well, we've made it. Congratulations to everyone who has weathered the offseason. As you all know this morning the team reported for the conditioning program. This event attended by most if not all players on the Texans signifies the beginning of the 2009 campaign. Delusional? Perhaps, but hear me out.

So right now the majority of the '09 Texans are together in a room working to be better. They are preparing for the season. That's good enough for me. We've eliminated the baggage from last year, added new players and have begun moving forward with that lineup. That to me is enough to suggest that today, this morning, is the official beginning of the 2009 season.

In a few weeks we'll draft the rest of the players and begin OTA's a few weeks after that. This is the first time that the players are asked to "report". They're not at home or on vacation. It's back to work. It's FOOTBALL SEASON. IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!!!

Go Texans.

If you start a new job and you have to go in and fill out the paper work and do other officey stuff even though you're not sitting at your desk you're still "at work" right? It's different than sitting at home in your underwear. It counts. Yesterday, all these guys were sitting around in their underwear, today they're getting ready.

How you know this makes me nervous and makes me chuckle a little.:whip:

They're just coming together to condition/meet the new guys/get some gear...

I doubt there will be a whole lot going on directly related to football...

I see your point barrett...it's not really football season but at least there should be more football related news coming from the Texans now that the players are at Reliant on a daily basis.

it ain't football season till I see us slapping opponents upside the head...till then it's practice man, practice....practice. We don't even have our rookies in yet so to me it's just one big organized group hug.

:spit: Good grief. We aren't players.

The worst part of the offseason for the fans has yet to come. After the draft and OTA's there's a long drought before camp. :gun:

yeah, the worst part of the off-season is in front of us...not behind us. The part after we get our rooks in and the space to fill till the camp blows...heck, I am thinking of getting cryogenically frozen so I can pass the time easier.

But then who would water your tomatos?

What if your job entails sitting around at home in your underwear?

:spit: That would be nice.

I still like to catch my fair share of Baseball though. Maybe I can freeze the football portion of my brain. Nah, that'd be over half my brain and would clearly make me more of a dumbass than I already am. :winky:

was just going the worst part is still to come but others have said it. the gap between ota's & TC is painful

Hmmm I don't think you can say "it's here" until at least after the draft. There's still a long way to go.

We are just balling up some snow at the top of a mountain right now.

Football season or not, it's great to have something football-related like the NFL Draft to talk about.

Technically the 2009 season started on Feb. 27 when veteran free agency signing and trading period begins. That's when the 2009 rosters begin to take shape.:splits:

You've got to be joking Brando, but I didn't see a sarcasm sign...

Football season can't 'begin' because it never ends!!!

Hmmm....I was hoping that I'd slept in 5 months late this morning, and it was actually football season.

Today is the first day of the 'pretend I care about baseball' season...

Unfortunately, not even close!! I have to SEE it to believe it, and not seeing our boys butting heads, all decked out in red, white, and blue, just doesn't cut it as "football" season for me. I start getting REALLY excited when the final roster has been picked and we're gettin down to business. All the "pre" football stuff is just fluff! YES, it keeps me going, BUT, it ain't football season until that first kick of the reg season is sent sailing through the air.

<----for a second there, thought he had slept through the summer or that he does the same thing at work each day he lost track of time. I love the Texans and all ,but I am not entirly anxious to skip the best days of the year in Texas. Days full of BBQ swimming pools and being so hot you consider going to stores a-la-natural.

I cant wait until the actual season starts, but lets not forget about the Spurs playoff run and trips to Minute Maid and all the good stuff summer brings.

I wish I could be like Rip Van Winkle and sleep through the off-season and wake up in time for football season....sigh...
