"Steve Slaton Day" proclaimed on March 4th in Bucks County, PA.

Hall of Fame
Below the very stage where he once danced in a high-school talent show, Houston Texans running back Steve Slaton rose to the occasion, just as he has throughout his ascent to the level of NFL star and Fantasy Football phenom.
On the morning of March 4, 2009, prior to their bi-monthly meeting, Bucks County Commissioners Charles H. Martin, Chairman, James F. Cawley, Esq. and Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, LCSW, proclaimed “Steve Slaton Day” throughout the county. After Commissioner Cawley, a 1987 graduate of then-Bishop Egan, read the proclamation, a crowd of some 500 uniformed Conwell-Egan Catholic High School students howled their approval.

As happy as I am for Steve he needs to get his head out of the clouds. He had one good season, let's see 5-7 more good seasons before hes annointed the savior. I hope he's staying in shape and keeping his body in good health and prepares for '09 like he has more to prove.

I agree he needs to get his head out of the clouds, if his head is in the clouds, he is not DD or DW or whatever his name was, He will be fine.

He needs to get his head out of the clouds? Slaton is very much like AJ, I seriously doubt he floated the idea out.

Yeah he had one good year, but I haven't yet read anything about a guy whose nose is up in the air. If anything it sounds like a small town guy makes good kinda story. Nothing wrong with that. If anything it might create some Texans fans in Penn.

I think he feels slighted about the probowl so hopefully he gets in and puts the work he needs to. The off season(or after the last game of the season) is the time to take a little time off, rest, and heal. Then March 1st its time to get back to the gym and start working and getting ready for the season. I think Slaton will be fine.

Well after a youtube video that I saw of him being toasted at a WVU alumni dinner, the guy really looks up to A.J. (a great athlete/talent that also works his ass off and stays humble and doesn't have a ego....pretty much Slaton's words) so I doubt his "heads are in the clouds" and hopefully he's following that example.

Andre might be quiet, but his actions speak volumes for those smart enough to listen.....Slaton sounds like a cat that's listening. (he's also pretty soft spoken if you think about it)

Yes, they're both soft spoken. Because of that, their interviews...well...they suck. They both remind me of boys in middle schools who are getting used to their new deep voice.

Not everybody feels comfortable in front of a camera or a large group of people....I also rewatched the MNF game where they interviewed Slaton after the game, because of his great performance. The guy was nervous as hell, him and A.J. just don't have the charisma in front of a camera, but throw pads on them and stick them on a football field and they're right at home and in their comfort zone......However I don't see sports analyst jobs in their future. We won't be lucky enough to see "Slatonisms" on ESPN like the great Emmitt Smith.

Ok, how can ANYONE spin this as Slaton's is getting ahead of himself, head in clouds, bringing undeserved attention upon himself?

If Slaton had been selected to the Pro-bowl should he have said thanks but no thanks because he might be a one-season sensation?

Rubbish...

SS strikes me as the kind of athlete who has the ideal mix of some confidance, but in an understated sort of way, while at the same time respecting his superiors like AJ who have set the example of the behavior of a pro. And I thought the little ceremony his home-town gave him was very thoughtful. They are obviously proud of him and they have every right to be.

In the Brooke Bentley interview on HT.com, he said that he got started working out a week earlier prior to the off season program.
