Come to papa!! DALLAS SIGNS Glenn- Houston Chronicle: Cowboys, Glenn reach deal

As Aaron Glenn's future with the Texans appears headed south, it seems the three-time Pro Bowl cornerback is headed north -- as in up Interstate-45 to Dallas where he will be reunited with his former coach, Bill Parcells.

The Texans gave Glenn permission to seek a deal with another team last week when they acquired cornerback Phillip Buchanon in a trade with the Oakland Raiders.

According to sources, Glenn has reached an agreement with Dallas, and the Texans will facilitate the deal by granting the 11-year veteran his release. Attempts to reach Glenn were unsuccessful.

That's what I'm talking about! Welcome to Dallas Aaron! Can't believe how good of an off-season Dallas is having so far..

O dallas their like the hobos of the NFL. Taking everyones left overs (Keyshawn, Glenn, Henson, Eddie George)

Ehh, just another illeterate Cowboy fan. We have a whole thread devoted to this already, but I think it takes at least a 4th grade comprension level to understand it. Having said that, the Boys are having a wonderful offseason, and they will win 10-11 games next year. Wish the same could be said of the team on the other end of Interstate 45.

Good luck (and I as just ribbing you...or was I :shocked )

Its the score of the only season game between dallas and houston. Oh, and it was our first game ever.

Quiet down about that 2-0 lead...I don't wanna hear a peep from the Rocket fans until the series is won...now keep it quiet...

STAYING ON TOPIC (something this MB lacks a bit)

Good signing by the 'Boys...their D is gonna be nice in 2005.

Attempts to reach Glenn were unsuccessful.
??
He was on 610 today, talking about his trip to Dallas this afternoon to sign.
Sounds like everything is OK .. between him and the Texans.
He probably is signing with the Cowboys to get more playing time then he would be getting by staying here. That's what I get from it all.

o sorry, knew 19-10 sounded familiar, at first i thaught you were reffering to the Astros record but knew right off the bat that couldnt be right

Pssst.. All NFL teams are full of "leftovers", like you guys signed Buchanon and we signed former Parceller Aaron Glenn, except Glenn had better stats than Buchanon last year and the fact this "leftover" is from Houston makes it all the more sweeter and tasty at that!

Welcome to Big D Aaron!

Actually PB isn't a left over since both teams received something in the trade. Aaron on the other hand is a left over because he could easily be raplaced and wasn't needed

I know AG is a good signing for the cowgirls, but don't get full of yourself, you still have never beat the HOUSTON TEXANS, and if it takes us handing you our players, I guess that counts as an inner squad practice.

19-10!!!!!!!!!

I bet you were excited about getting Eddie George last year too.....that worked out well for ya.

Glenn won't even be a starter....I can't figure out why he thinks thats any better than what his role would be here.

It's true. Aaron Glenn is now a Dallas Cowboy.
The Dallas Cowboys: What a Draft! A ROYAL FLUSH. And now Aaron Glenn. By far the most improved team in the NFL in 2005.

thats great for 2005.
But lets look eyond that in Dallas shall we?

Bledsoe is still getting older, after bledsoe there is henson. Pray bledsoe doesnt go down

2 the defense will definately not gel this year considering its a transition year.

3. WR core totally overpaid. and they have no real homerun threat like AJ

4. Running game beyond Julius? from who? Barber?

its not that great. the defense will be really good next year If Bledsoe goes down your hosed offensively. And the WR core is a rag tag team of hot and cold players. Only thing i envy about the cowboys is a wish jason Witten was a texan

Julius Jones is going to be a very very good back for them... as much as i hate to say it... i h.a.t.e, hate the cowgirls....

I agree he has the potential to be a good back but if you think DD is injury prone this guy freakin has a ambulance follow him wherever he goes. He missed most of last year due to a broken shoulder. He missed time in college due to injury and the fact that they give him the ball 25+ times a game he won't make it through a season without missing games in his whole career.

As a fellow Cowboys fan, you embarrass me. Why are Houston leftovers sweeter? If a player can't make it in Houston, they aren't worth bragging over. Not that Glenn wasn't a class act and a solid player, but you get my point. I'm just glad there haven't been any arraignments with this current squad.
19-10 punk

It's a business guys...Aaron wants to play and he feels he can play more in Dallas and he has played for Bill before. He may be the toughest coach in the NFL but darn if players don't like playing for him.

As for the Cowboys they've made definite improvements and should have a much better team this year.

Aaron is a class guy. He represents whatever team's uniform he wears very nicely. No need to dog the guy just because he's gone. He represented the Texans very well when he was here.

I'm a big Randy White fan. He was my favorite player for a long, long time. He's probably the best player defensively the Cowboys have ever had.

Houston will miss Glenn. He's a classy player and was a great Texan. He seems to be very community minded also. Can't ever have enough Aaron Glenn types on your team.

Congrats Dallas, you just purchased two bad hammies that are good for missing anywhere from 2-3 games a season. He's good when healthy but did anyone else notice all the INTs that he dropped?

Oh come on. You can't honestly tell me the Texans are a better team without Aaron Glenn.

Newman was a head case last year than towards the end of the year he was doing better. I don't consider him a bust. He's just somebody that needs to be more consistent.

I can't say we are better without him and I can't say we are worse without him. I do know the guys that came in for him when he was out with injuries stepped in nicely. The only game I can say Aaron Glenn played real well was against Pitt and Dallas our first season and against the Packers this past season.

Well after listening to Aaron this afternoon on 610 I can say that he's leaving the Texans with nothing but good memories and well wishes; he said he wants the Texans to win and do well.

He mentioned he had talked to Bill Parcells and knew what his role would be. I have heard he signed a 4 year contract so I guess he's planning on playing a few more years.

The Texans did the nice thing by honoring his request to be released and that speaks volumes about what they think of Aaron. They could have held out till June I think and left him hanging but chose not to.

I personally think it's a good sign by the Cowboys; injuries or no he's the type guy a team can not have enough of.. Good leadership qualities, hard worker and does his best each and every play.

He said he would stay active in the Houston community with his volunteer work.

If he signed somewhere else it wouldn't be as bad but the fact he signed with Dallas makes him a real puto!

What is a "deadskin-like" offseason?

They had a very good defense last year. I think they ended up no. 1 or 2.

If they can get their QB in place they'll be ok. I think Joe Gibbs is an exceptional coach.

I'm really surprised at the attitude towards Aaron.

Just like Houston Leftover OT Ryan Young a few years back... Hopefully for AG's sake only, it turns out better...

p.s. There is no word in the English language spelled popa...

you were most likely trying for papa, or another accepted variant, poppa or maybe even pappa which is also considered correct... but again, no popa.

you had three chances to spell the word correctly, and you couldn't even luck into it... I am laughing at you...! :loser:

Are you kidding me? Their defense was horrible last year! Thats why they are changing to the 3-4. Im not sure where they ranked, but I am sure that it was prob 25-32. Ill look this up and get back to you...

He is talking about the Redskins not the Cowboys. The Redskins had I think the #2 defense in the league.

I'm female just for clarification purposes. But yes I was talking about the Redskins who had a very good year on defense. They just couldn't do anything on offense. I'm far from a fan but I think Joe Gibbs can straighten that team out.

And the Cowboys were horrid on defense. Couldn't stop anybody. Which explains why almost all their draft was defense.

ah much better. I thought u were talking about the Cowpie's def.

I hate the Cowboys.. but it's sad to say, they could have a better defense then us this year. You people don't really look at the situation, you think over your heads just because you hate Dallas so much, them and Minnesota, best improved teams this year.. through draft and FA. By far...

I thought KC did a good job of rebuilding their D too. Derrick Johnson will do well as a 4-3 OLB and Patrick Surtain still has some gas in the tank. Didn't they add Kendrell Bell (over injury?) and someone else of note on defense?

Looked it up. They added Sammy Knight and Carlos Hall. Knight used to be great but it sliding. Hall is solid but nothing special. Still, they should be better overall.

Cowboys Officially Sign Veteran CB Aaron Glenn
The Cowboys went through the entire draft without taking a cornerback, but couldn't resist on grabbing 11-year veteran Aaron Glenn, who signed to a two-year deal Wednesday at Valley Ranch. Glenn, who was released by the Texans on Tuesday, played three years in Houston after eight years with the Jets, including three of that under Bill Parcells. Glenn, a three-time Pro Bowler who turns 33 in September, has 35 career interceptions, but will likely come to the Cowboys as the third cornerback behind projected starters Terence Newman and Anthony Henry.

Well I have to say good luck to Aaron, but not the boys. He is a stand up guy. All I can say is that I hope the Fat Tuna lets him return punts.

Cowboys still BLOW!

How in the name of God does that post make you embarrased in me? All I was saying is we got a great player from a awesome state rival team which is pretty sweet.

Umm sorry to burst your bubble buddy but what are the cowboys against the texans so far? o yes 2-0. What are the Rockets with the Mavs right now? o yes 2-0. And if you want to start comparing cities overall, which city is larger? O yes Houston. Which city has a beach? Yep, Houston again. Which city has the biggest tower west of the Mississippi? Hmm Houston again. Which city's baseball team actually made it to the playoffs last year and all the way to the NLCS? Haha that's right Houston. Which city had a much internationally hated president as their baseball owner? Dallas. Which city is home to a man who proclaims he's the best center in the NBA, but not even 2nd best in this playoff series? Dallas.
2-0, 19-10.

So what you got to say now?

For the life of me I see NO way AG doesn't beat both of these guys out for a starting spot. Good luck AG, this Texan fan will sorely miss you & your leadership on the field.

Since when has the Rangers owner Tom Hicks become internationally hated? That makes no sense.

well shoot thats 4 years from now. fortunately, the fact that what happened on September 8, 2002 will still remain

Am I missing something here? Was the poster talking about President Bush owning the Rangers? That's the "internationally hated" baseball owner?? That went right over my head since he hasn't owned the team for YEARS.

Oh never mind..

I believe the person you left off is Sammy Knight.

As far as Glenn , I hope all goes well for him . The guy was always a classy cat in his stay here . :thumbup

If this moves tells Pete Hunter the only way he's going to see the field is as a FS, then I'm all for it. I just hope the contract is not much more than the league minimum. Anything more than that is a lot of coin to be giving up to a 33 year old nickel back.

O dallas their like the hobos of the NFL. Taking everyones left overs (Keyshawn, Glenn, Henson, Eddie George)

Frank Chamberlin
Morlon Greenwood
Lewis Sanders
Daleroy Stewart
Reggie Swinton

Know who these guys are? They're the leftovers the Texans have signed so far. Remember Reggie Swinton? Former Cowboy.

I bet you were excited about getting Eddie George last year too.....that worked out well for ya.

Glenn won't even be a starter....I can't figure out why he thinks thats any better than what his role would be here.

What I felt about Eddie George is/was well documented here (I know you didn't address the question to me).

And you're right about him not being a starter here (Dallas). At least not right away. How is that better than Houston? Because Dallas offered him money to be a nickel back. Houston wasn't willing to do that.

But lets look eyond that in Dallas shall we?

Bledsoe is still getting older, after bledsoe there is henson. Pray bledsoe doesnt go down

1. If you're going to look "beyond 2005" why would it be a bad thing if Bledsoe goes down? At least Henson would get some reps and the question of whether or not he's our future would be answered. I'm praying Bledsoe does go down.

2. Again..."beyond 2005". You think the defense will have gelled by 2006? So wouldn't that be a good thing?

3. Andre Johnson has averaged a whopping .2 more yards per catch than Terry Glenn over their respective careers.

4. Running game beyond Davis? From who? Morency?

I agree he has the potential to be a good back but if you think DD is injury prone this guy freakin has a ambulance follow him wherever he goes. He missed most of last year due to a broken shoulder. He missed time in college due to injury and the fact that they give him the ball 25+ times a game he won't make it through a season without missing games in his whole career.

Jones played two seasons at Notre Dame and missed a total of 1 game. His broken shoulder was the same injury Emmitt Smith sustained his first game back in Dallas a Cardinal. I myself consider Emmitt to be one of the most durable football players ever. How 'bout you?

19-10 punk

One day, you'll get it. It won't be soon and we can't explain it to you. But one day...

Are you kidding me? Their defense was horrible last year! Thats why they are changing to the 3-4. Im not sure where they ranked, but I am sure that it was prob 25-32. Ill look this up and get back to you...

No, we're switching to a 3-4 because that is what Parcells has always coached. We're not switching this year because we were so bad last year. We're switching this year because Parcells finally has the personnel in order to do so.

I'm female just for clarification purposes.

I had no idea you were a lady. :)

Umm sorry to burst your bubble buddy but what are the cowboys against the texans so far? o yes 2-0. What are the Rockets with the Mavs right now? o yes 2-0. 2-0, 19-10.

So what you got to say now?

Well, I can say that Dallas is not 2-0 against the Texans (read your own post above). Even if you had it backwards, how are the Texans 2-0 against Dallas?

NBA smack if funny.

Chicago is bigger than Houston. Does this mean Chicago is better than Houston?

Houston has a beach? I grew up around Houston. Did I miss it the whole time I was there?

Skyscraper smack? Really?

Baseball smack? From a team that's been shut-out 5 times already this season? I grew up an Astros fan. Please don't bring them up...ever.

"Internationally hated president"? I tell ya, I'd much rather have a "internationally hated president" because he's doing what's best for his country than one that everybody likes because he sits on his ***.

Finally, I'm quite certain that Shaq is the only player that says he's the best C in the NBA.

I think Patriot and I were seperated at birth (although I can't stand the NBA and gave up on MLB after the '94 strike).
