Lets trade the 15th pick and our 4th to the Patriots for......

that would work in Madden but in real life a mid-1st and 4th is not worth a 1st and 2nd...if we were to trade down it'd be more like going back 3-5 spots and picking up a late 3rd or 4th, similar to last year

and the Patriots want to do this why?

I've seen a lot of projected trade scenarios where people are listing the Patriots as one of our potential trading partners..

This doesn't make any sense to me. The Patriots simply do not trade up to draft a player, they believe very strongly in their system and believe that they can make anyone fit within the scheme.

On top of that, Belichick apparently just turned down a first round pick for Cassel in favor of a second round pick. Either it's a conspiracy to help out his buddy in Kansas City or he really doesn't want to get locked up in the money that a top 15 pick requires.

Bottom line - the Patriots are not going to trade up, and it will definitely not be this year because of how weak the top half of the first round is.

This is exactly what it is. The Patriots are generally a smart savvy organization. They draft, trade and sign well. They're not a team I want our Texans doing business with.

Based on the draft chart, Our 15th pick for the 33rd and 47th would be fair.

I think having 3 2nd rounders would be benefit the team to add more depth since we dont have any major holes.

Lets trade our 7,6,5,4,4,3 for their two two's!

I get what you are trying to say but its not even a possibility. The Patriots just traded Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel for a 2nd round pick and you think they would trade it to us for a 4th rounder and swap of firsts???

Deals like this almost never get made until the draft is under way. Why would NE trade up now when it is almost impossible to predict who will be available at 15? During the draft if they or any other team sees a player slide they might be inclined to move around. This thread should also probably be in the draft section.

Last year we got a third for going from 18th to 26th. So 15th from 23rd would be comparable. I think a third would be realistic, and a late 2nd is close to the third.

Actually an even trade would be our 1st and 5th round picks for their 1st and 2nd round picks. (not including the KC 2nd rd pick)

There could be a player they really covet that slips to 15. If they get scared he'd get taken in the next couple picks they may trade up. I don't know who that player is but if they came calling I would most likely take that trade. Depends who's on the board, but I'd give it a 90% chance that I'd take that deal.

Maybe they really like one of the USC LBs (Maualuga, Cushing, Matthews).

True enough, but I'm thinking we'd probably want one of those LBs ourselves. We don't need to draft a DE in the 1st round now. I'm thinking a safety or LB is what we take in the 1st round now. Just guessing though.

How dare you guess when we have people here with direct insight into Rick Smith's soul.

:sarcasm:

we would only make trades like that if we are not targeting ANyone ... are we targeting anyone ??? i dont think so i think we trade up IMO our 1st round

Never say never.

Billhoodo is a clever coach so if someone came a fallin' like Stafford or Sanchez or maybe BJ Raji I'm sure he's gotten a close look or two at him seeing as he's from Boston College. Texans would do it and still grab one of the USC backers but I think there's a slim chance New England in the mood for such wheeling and dealing.

Vinny DiTrani, of The Bergen Record, reports New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said the team may look to trade some of their draft picks before the draft. "There are a lot of things that can happen before the draft," Reese said. "Who knows? We may not have that many picks by time the draft rolls around." The Giants currently have nine draft picks and could receive one or two compensatory picks.

We could probably get the 34th and the 47th picks for the 15th. Not sure why NE would want to move up though. They would have to trade up higher than 15 to get one of the hybrid OLB like Orakpo or E. Brown. Our best bet at trading down is if Sanchez or a RB drops.

Can we trade for some good rookie posters?

It might cost you a 1st rounder…unfortunately those are hard to come by. I would be willing to sign on for a little more than the vet minimum, but you would probably want to put in the contract a strip club clause. My buddy Pacman and I tend to get a little carried away at times…
