To clarify my position. I do not rate Kruger higher than either EB nor MJ.
I realize that I've been scrutinizing all the first rounders pretty harsh.
Like Raji with whom my concern is whether a big fat contract will lead to 2 many Big Macs. But it would be hard to find another big guy like that, unless we're willing to wait 'til next year when that Terrence Cody guy from Bama comes out. I watched a game yesterday, and the announcer said he's at 360 lbs. But wait... This is the fun part. He was logged at 420 lbs in Jr College. Ouch!
Everette Brown, I think, is ready to contribute right away.
Bowden rotates guys on the defensive line somewhat like the Texans do, more so than with MJ, and especially Kruger. So his stats can be misleading.
On the other hand, because of that, he can go all-out when he was in there.
What I like about him is that he has great anticipation on the snap.
(One time the announcers thought he was offside, I didn't.
He was on the RB as he got the hand-off.)
He already masters the dip move and the rip move.
His spin move isn't so bad, either.
And he's good in pursuit.
IMHO (humble), he's more proficient at DE, and not as a 3-4 OLB.
I've seen him working on Cherilus the yr before with some success. Some great battles there!
I've seen him fighting a triple-team and advancing!!!
Michael Johnson is still intriguing.
There's this one game where he looks a tad out of place.
Then there's another game where he was totally into it from start to finish.
Rousing the fans even though they were behind. Showing good sportmanship with opposing players even toward the 4th qtr. And he was doing everything he could, including blocking a FG.
If he can pull everything together, I think he can be a force.
(But can we bank on potential, that is the question!)
The plus; however, I think, we've seen the floor.
And that floor still shows a good player, IMO.
Kruger, I don't want to write him down, I need to study him more.
