Plaxico Looking to Be Traded

I thought I'd post this just to ruin the fun for those who will post it and write.."I'm sure the Cowboys will sign him." There, now you don't have to....HA!:smiliedance:

The agent for Plaxico Burress reportedly is shopping the embattled New York Giants wide receiver around the league, and the team is none too pleased.

Citing multiple sources close to the situation, the Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J., reported on its Web site that Drew Rosenhaus sent e-mail to every NFL team earlier this week indicating Burress could be had via a trade.

According to the Star-Ledger, the sources said the e-mail contained a list of Rosenhaus' free-agent and draft-eligible clients and three clients identified as tradeable -- Burress, Anquan Boldin of the Cardinals and Chad Johnson of the Bengals.

A Giants spokesman told the Star-Ledger that general manager Jerry Reese had "nothing to say" about the report. Rosenhaus did not return a call or an e-mail from the newspaper

Didn't he just sign an extension before this past season? He ain't going anywhere.

It may not be that big a hit to dump him:

9/4/2008: Signed a five-year, $27.25 million contract. The deal contains $11 million guaranteed, including a $4.25 million signing bonus. Another $5 million is available in performance escalators, with a $100,000 bonus for each game Burress is active. The contract requires him to participate in all offseason workouts, including "voluntary" OTAs. 2009: $1 million, 2010-2012: $3.5 million, 2013: Free Agent

Only $4.5 mil of signing bonus. Most of the other guaranteed money may have been his salary for last year akin to what we did with Reeves. In any event, the Jags just dumped Drayton Florence and Joey Porter after one year so sometimes teams will do it.

Has his self inflicted gunshot wound healed yet? IF so and he can still run I say give him some kevlar thigh pads and sign him. Andre needs help.

Please no. This guy is a mess

Walter had more receptions for more yards and more TDs than Burress did last year.

One of them is a hard working competitor who thinks of the team. The other one is a selfish moron who disrupts the team chemistry.

The guy is looking at jail time, how is that going to help any team much less the Texans?

No one will deal for this piece of crap until the legal matter is over.

...Drew Rosenhaus, who represents the Giants' troubled receiver, sent an e-mail to NFL teams earlier this week letting them know that Burress could be available in a trade, according to a report that was published Wednesday night. A league source confirmed Rosenhaus did not have the Giants' permission to solicit trade inquiries, and that the Giants were furious when they learned about the e-mail.

The report said that Kevin Abrams, the Giants assistant GM, notified the rest of the league that Rosenhaus was not acting on behalf of the Giants, and that Rosenhaus eventually sent out a second e-mail admitting as much....

He's not on the market. Rosenhaus is just a tool.

He's still under contract so he cant' up and leave, he would need to be traded and the Giants need him. They would be dumb to send him off unless they find a replacement.

NYG would be dumb to trade to a division rival. I could see a teams like Jacksonville, Seattle, and Minnesota going after him. I could even see Az letting Boldin walk and nabbing Burress.

Good points, I had to rep you for that. NY wouldn't trade him to Dallas because they are in the division. That would be an excellent trade for the Cards and the Giants for sure. Both teams would benefit. Also Jacksonville would be a great destination for him, but Jacksonville won't do it, AND I"M GLAD. Seattle will most likely take Crabtree, so I don't see that happening, but Minnesota would be a good destination.

Boldin walk where? He's under a multi-year contract right? He can walk back to practice with the NFC Champs or back home to sit for the next few seasons...

I see this as a big slap to NYG. They did what they could to support him, some want him back even and now he's asking to be traded. Every time I read idiocy of this magnitude involving a WR a say a thank you to our very own "Rainmaker"-Andre Johnson for being a dominant WR with a freaking brain in his head.

That's why AJ & Fitzgerald are the 2 best WR's in the NFL, bar none. They have the talent and they have character.

I guess everybody missed my first post in this thread. I suggest y'all go back and read it.

Burress did NOT ask to be traded. Rosenhaus made a mistake. This kind of thing has been known to happen to agents who represent a large number of clients.

Yea agreed, but I don't know why Plax has come out saying he wants to be traded though? The Giants have stood by him, he's just proving he is a tool by wanting to get out...
