heh.. I think they just repeated their mistake in last years draft. Taking the unknown prospect that they think will be the best WR.. and skipping on Mark Clayton :P.

Jones has no real reps as a WR.. no experience.. its gonna take him a while to transition into WR in the NFL. Chances are he will not pose any real threat to our secondary.

lol, i'm torn as well...i loved watching him gives the horns hell the last two years and i wanted to root for him in the pro's...except on a division rival team :heh:

I wanted him in Houston, if not Houston then in St. Louis or another NFC team. The last thing I wanted to see happen was Matt going to a division rival. That blows chunks!!

thats why we arent GMs J-Man. matt Jones has done NOTHING to show he has any NFL talent.

he is athletic.. hes big and runs a fast 40. so what? the jags made a bad pick.. mark my words.

why is everyone so worried about Matt Jones? The only reason he was even in the first round is because hes big and ran a fast 40. So what? he has no experience at any position other than QB.

Why do people suddenly think Matt Jones is going to give us issues? We have the best secondary in our division.. possibly in the league (we will see).. and we are gonna worry about some pretty boy that cant run routes or catch the ball.. just cause he ran a 40 in .1 seconds faster than other guys?

When was the last time Matt Jones played WR? 4 or 5 years ago? It will take him at the very least a year to become a viable option as anything other than a goal line threat...Maybe he can develop into a WR by the time his rookie contract runs out, but I'm not sure...

Antwan Randle El was a special case. he was the exception, not the rule.

Just being athletic enough to play a position, doesnt mean you will be good at it.

And btw.. Randle El isnt all that impressive anyway :P. A good receiver.. but not a starter quality receiver. Even if Matt Jones becomes good enough to be their #1 guy.. I think the odds are against him ever becoming a top 10.. or even top 20 WR.

its possible, but I know im not worried about it.

Matt does have experience at WR he played it as recently as year before last. He practiced at WR often. He is more than a speed guy with size. He is plain and simple a big time play maker with size and speed. It was a great pick for Jacksonville, but one I wish they had not made.

I can tell you have never seen Matt Jones play at all. You are looking at combine numbers and going off of what some national "experts" were saying about Jones.

I havent seen him play.. your right. All I know is he was a late first, or second day pick (if that) until he ran at the combine.

So, saying that his hype comes from the Combine seems like an accurate statement.

I don't think Jones will ever be a top notch WR... I think he would have a better shot at TE or in the slot. I think he would give teams fits there, but he still needs a TON of work as a WR. I think it'll take him a couple of years to become adjusted.

just have to disagree with you. Give randle el Matt's size and speed, and he would be an elite player. Matt is just as elusive as randle was, plus he has the things you can't teach.

I don't mind the pick. He could play TE or WR and if Byron goes down and we don't have faith in another QB, he could play backup.

Yea that's true. The pick makes more sense if they are maybe thinking he can come in and play mop up QB if needed. He's got great skills and he's really tough. He never lets up.

He's a baller. Put him on the same field with Jimmy Smith and Reggie Williams and they could do some serious damage.

Who'd a thunk it?

Seriously... everyone was all up on how the Jags have no offense and won't be doing anything. Well, we have a defense, and we now have an offense... getting Barnes will do wonders, as well as having Jones.
