Got a text from the Texans stating he is replacing Antonio Gates and it will be posted on the main website shortly.

The NFL announced today that Texans tight end Owen Daniels will make his first-career Pro Bowl appearance after San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates pulled out of the game due to injury.

“It’s really exciting,” Daniels said. “I can’t wipe the smile off my face right now, honestly. It’s going to be cool to go out there and play with all the best players in the league.”

Daniels ranked second in the AFC among tight ends in receptions (70) and receiving yards (862) this season, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs’ Tony Gonzalez in both categories.

Congrats to the Weatherman !

I have one request .. bring some freakin' hawaii weather to Texas when you get back
:jogger::scarygirl:

Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels did his part, catching 70 passes for 862 yards before becoming a restricted free agent this offseason. But given the economy, an unsettled labor situation and the possibility of an uncapped year in 2010, it will be interesting to see how NFL teams spend money across the next few months.

Daniels, the former Naperville Central quarterback, tells HoustonTexans.com that he would like to remain in Texas.

"I'd love to be here for a long time," Daniels said. "That's not completely up to me, but I'd definitely love to stay in Houston. I really like our team, I like our coaches, I like the guys and I think we're going in the right direction."

PLEASE let Slaton get in.

Still the only team to have 3 players from the 06 draft class on the PB roster.

Not bad.

Good Deal !
I heard OD on 1560 a few weeks ago saying he regretted that he won't get a chance to enjoy the PB experience, the whole culture of it being in Hawaii since this was going to be the last year it would be held in there. He said everything would be different if the PB-week was stateside (which it will be in the furture). So it's great that he'll get to make that one last, final trip to
Hawaii with the rest of the NFL PBowlers.

I'm sorry, but if you have a problem with today's weather, there's simply something wrong with you - it's beautiful.

Not all parts of the state are having such a good weather day. We got about a third of an inch of sleet/ice last night. It made for a wonderful commute here in the DFW, and the temp just recently cracked 32.

Great news, well done OD...you enjoy your holiday in Hawaii!

And the Texans continue to take the world over...

He's in Kerrville, where it's 59 degrees and sunny. Sounds like he should be happy to me.

Added benefit of going to PB is that our young guys get to meet and learn from the best of the best.

Being the youngest team in the NFL we need to aquire this knownledge somehow. PB, experienced coaches and bringing guys in are the only ways.

Interesting note... The Texans are now the only team that has 3 players from the 06 draft that are pro bowlers. Is there really any question who had the best draft that year???

thanks to ... well i shouldn't say thanks but due to Antonio Gates injury Owen Daniels finally gets the credit he deserves. Now i'm just waiting Steve Slaton

The Texans said they now rank as the only team in the league with three players from the 2006 draft class -- their first with Gary Kubiak as coach -- heading to the Pro Bowl.

Very nice, lets repeat in 09. Congrats OD you deserve it!

So i understand that Charley Asserly made the mario pick...but what about the rest of that draft? Smithiak?

Kubiak has given credit to Casserly for the Owen Daniels pick before. He said after the 1st day was over Charley stayed in their ear and kept raving about a TE out of Wisconsin. 1st pick of Day 2, Texans select Owen Daniels and the rest is history.

*scratches head trying to decide whether to post here or in the thread that was started 3 hours ago for the same topic*

Awesome news.

I choose to believe that all of the picks for that draft were told to Kubiak by Jesus himself, because Jesus is all about helping out the little guy. Also, screw Casserly and waiting until he was already out to finally have a half-assed draft.

How many people outside this messageboard think that Clark should've been in over Daniels?

I bet it's a lot.

They do have a point. Both Daniels and Clark are pro-bowl caliber players. Statistically, Clark had the better year. I could see it both ways. Its a shame they both can't go
