Anquan Boldin is becoming T.O. like

stingray

Hall of Fame
I thought this guy was better than this behavior. While his team was celebrating a Super Bowl birth, he was throwing a tantrum.

Not content to just have a screaming match with the offensive coordinator on the sidelines (which landed him on our list of five least valuable people of Championship Sunday), Anquan Boldin carried his hissy-fit to the Arizona Cardinals postgame celebration, too.

While most of the other Cardinals were still on the field being showered in confetti and picking up their NFC Championship trophy, Boldin had already bolted out of the locker room. The behavior prompted CBS's Mike Freeman to call him a naughty word.

Rest of story:

The way that Bolden acted yesterday was definitely bad, but in no way does this first time action make him TO like. It was a TO like moment for him, but the first I have seen from him. Hopefully he learns and realizes what a jerk he looked like yesterday.

I actually added this story to the old Cowboy thread earlier today since it was funny that you mentioned Boldin being a better guy to sign than Williams. Found it ironic in a funny way.

That is ridiculous. He is a moron. He needs to take a look at Matt Leinart. You know Leinart has to be upset that he isn't getting to play. But did Leinart bolt right after the game? Nope! He was out there celebrating with his team.

He hasn't exactly achieved T.O. status, but this isn't the first example of a Prima Donna personality.

From this past off-season:
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin asked to be traded, saying he doesn't feel his situation can be resolved and declaring he has no relationship with coach Ken Whisenhunt.

"I'm a football player. That's about it," Boldin said Tuesday when asked to characterize his dealings with the coach these days.

Are you serious? You're trying to act like they are even comparable as far as how good they are?

This is the first time Bolden has ever acted that way, and he was very upset about his contract before the season and had a right to be as well considering how well he has produced every season and the fact that Fitz has been there less years that he has and Fitz is paid like a top WR. Bolden came in any way, and had a great season. Did you forget that he was leading all WR's for like the first 8 games of the season before he got hurt and missed a few games?

I'm pretty sure that Bolden will realize how stupid he acted and the Offensive coordinator and him will probably resolve this. If he continues to act like a mal content than I'll judge him the same way I have with several Cowboys players I can assure you.

But don't sit here and act like Bolden and Williams are even in the same boat as far as production or as players in the NFL. They're not even close.

Just so there is no confusion, Boldin's contract is his own fault. He signed an extension in 2005. He had already proven himself at this point and it is his own fault that he signed the extension.

I disagree. He has been able to produce just about the same as Fitzgerald, and been there longer. I doubt that you would be sunshine and peaches if you were performing just as well as another co worker at your job who held the same position as you and he was getting paid several more MIllion dollars more than you especially when you had been there longer than he had. I'm sure that you'd be a little ticked as well. He is a very competitive individual obviously and wanted to be out there to help his team.

Again though, I'm not defending the way he acted. He acted like a grade A prick, but he doesn't have any long pattern of acting this way. No one deserves to be compared to TO after one bad day. Hopefully he'll learn from this and be better for it. If not, he'll be criticized for it more and taint his reputation, but I don't think one poor display like yesterday makes him a bad guy when it was the first time. Everyone has a bad moment or two, it's what you learn from it and how you move on. If he doesn't then he'll continue to embarrass himself.

Why are you so darn defensive?I said it was ironic because you had mentioned Williams being a bad move while Boldin was a quality guy.

Also, you might want to check your facts with Arizona fans. Boldin has been an a-hole all year. Going on 2 years now. I've read their rants during preseason on other sites. His contract demands were part of the reason..although he had a contract in place and Arizona said they wanted him. He claimed he didn't want to be there anymore. Part of the reason he was mad last night was because he claimed their coach doesn't really communicate with him and he didn't get the ball enough. I love his talent and think he is better than Williams. And he played hard and cameback through the drama. I never said he wasn't good. But he sure seems more like TO than some may have you believe. Plus ever since his breakout rookie campaign where he helped me win a fantasy title, he has had some injury issues.

So you can stop preaching about the guy. I know he is talented. There are alot of talented primma donnas though. You have told us about them and it was ironic that he was brought up as one that wasn't this way.

Defensive? How was I defensive. I gave my perspective. You came off as if you were pointing out that Bolden was a big time jerk and that the Cowboys wouldn't have been smarter for going after Bolden instead of WIlliams. Maybe that wasn't what you meant, but that was how I interpreted your post.

And he hasn't been a jerk all year long. If he had been, he would have made a much bigger deal about his hold out and not came back to the team when he did. He came back and played exceptional all year. I haven't made any excuses for him once here. I've just explained why he had a legitamite gripe to have a better contract than what he currently has. This is the NFL Frog, and teams can cut you when they want or ask you to take a pay cut at any time, so I don't fault every single player for wanting a better contract in certain off seasons when they have earned it all while his counter part has been there less years and is getting a lot more money.

I'm not defending what he did at all yesterday. He was a jerk and I was disappointed to see him act that way. I hope he learns from this.

Cool. Seems like after some head butting we took the worst out of each others posts. Sorry. My bad. I do appreciate how he played despite what I had read this year and I do think he is a better receiver than Williams...who has some attitude himself. I just found it funny that this happened when he was the other option we had and we already have TO. Hopefully it is isolated.

You found it funny? It was odd. For me though it was just extremely disappointing to see him act that way, because he really hasn't in the past and here they were on their most important drive in team history and he's over there calling his coach names and making a big scene on the sidelines while his coach is trying to play a chess match on the offensive side of the ball. What would we be talking about today if the Cards didn't score a TD on that drive and the Eagles come back and win the game? Most likely a lot of folks would be blaming Bolden for his distraction he caused I'm sure.

And not only that it was reported that he didn't even celebrate with the team for god sakes. What the hell is his problem? All because they didn't want his banged up body in the game on the last drive? Come on man, he should have known that they have full confidence in him, but they needed their most healthy guys out there. To be honest I'm thinking that he might slowly be getting jealous of this extra spotlight and attention that Fitz has been receiving in these last few games while he has been hurt. You combine that with the fact that Fitz is getting a lot more money than he is, I'm sure that it is eating at him. That is only natural, however it is no excuse to not be more for the team and pouting off after they had just gotten their first SB appearance. That definitely taints his reputation a bit, but hopefully he'll realize what a jerk he acted like.

Did you not read my post? My point was Boldin's contract is his own fault. He has been with the team since 2003. In 2005, he signed an extension. This is from RotoWorld.

Contract Info
In July of 2005, Boldin agreed to a contract extension through 2010.

He signed the extension, and it is his own fault he is making a measly 4 million a year.

His rookie season he proved himself to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. He was injured in 2004, something that has been a problem for Boldin his entire career. He played 10 games in '04, 14 in '05, and only 12 in '07 and '08. On the other hand, Fitzgerald only missed one game last year and 3 in '06. He has 3 seasons with over 10 tds and 1,000 receiving yards. Now, don't get me wrong. Anquan Boldin is a good and maybe great WR. But Fitzgerald is one of the top 5 in the game. Personally, I put AJ and Fitzgerald as 1A and 1B.

Once again if Boldin's problem is his contract, he can only blame himself for signing the extension. He would have been a FA in '07, I believe, under his rookie contract and thus would have gotten the big money he is clamoring for. Instead, he signed an extension, for a bit more money, in '05.

No one deserves to be compared to TO after one bad day.

Agreed. He is not T.O. I just cannot understand his behavior. His team is going to the Super Bowl. His team. And yet all the guy focused on was himself. IMO, this is a big deal. The Super Bowl is what every player is supposed to long for, yet Boldin was, and is, more concerned with himself.

You found it funny? .

You need to stop reading things so harshly. I found it funny..as in the fact that Boldin came up in talks and his actions were so TO like...funny as in ironic funny. I didn't think his actions by themselves were funny. Really!\

And this was a point I have made in every Boldin thread...including above. Great player..hasn't stayed healthy. Thus probably having contract problems...and the fact that he is under contract.

Come on Frog you're doing it again. Lol!

I wasn't reading it harshly at all. I had no problem with what you were saying, and I too find it a little ironic, considering how we were discussing it in the Cowboys thread. I thought you wrote a nice post. :)

I was just explaining it from my perspective and how it was disappointing to see him act that way for me. I have always liked Bolden a lot remembering when he first came into the league the same year that AJ did and even had a better rookie season than AJ and sort of came out of nowhere. I've always felt a little sorry for him sort of like how I have felt sorry for AJ since both of them had such poor QB's for so many years until now. It was disappointing for me to see him act that way after finally getting a QB that played great for them and for the Cardinals to reach such a pinnacle point for their history and him to act that way. It would be sort of like watching AJ act that way if we were in a game like that you know. Just disappointing, that's all. I wasn't questioning what you were saying like I had an issue with it.

Point taken. I think the guy is going to regret not enjoying the celebration atmosphere. It was selfish and he makes it seem like he will get back there to experience that. He should have saved his problems and taken it all in with his team!

Agreed. It also could cost him some money when teams are considering trading for him and what they might want to pay. And it might make some teams shy away from going after him in a trade as well.

there's no comparison between the two. lots of players have a moment like this once in a while. i liked Haley's reaction though
