ESPN said:IRVING, Texas -- Troubled cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was released by the Dallas Cowboys following a season in which he was suspended six games for an off-field fight.
The announcement came Wednesday, but the transaction will not become official until Feb. 9, the first day NFL teams can make waiver requests.
The Cowboys traded for Jones before the season even though he had been suspended for the 2007 season because of a series of off-field incidents.
He missed six games this season for violating the league's player conduct policy after an Oct. 7 scuffle with a team bodyguard at a Dallas hotel. He missed a seventh game with an injury.
Jones averaged just 4.6 yards per punt return and had no interceptions.

Heh. They didn't release him because they'd had enough. .. they released him because they had no choice. He's going to be banned from the NFL for life.
Pacman arranged to have three guys shot at shortly after he was suspended.
I wonder if the Cowboys will now give the NFL permission to give Pacman his lifetime ban.
I really feel bad for Pac. Product of bad upbringing, no true family, and a world that just adds to his confusion, through it's own ways of taking advantage of all people. I pray he stays out of trouble and restores the life that he has left. There is more to life than football, and he needs to address all these other aspects first and foremost.
Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Jones release came after the team became aware of allegations that Jones arranged for someone to shoot at three men outside an Atlanta strip club.
I would feel sorry for him, except for this:
Almost every time this guy has gotten in trouble its been at a strip club. Fool me once, and all that business. Social upbringing can only screw you up so far. At some point, plain old stupidity kicks in
I agree....But his social upbringing seed has only fueled and added to his overall addiction. As most know, addiction comes in many forms. For some, Alcohol, drugs, eating, and let's face it, his is strip clubs/"social pornography" and the excitement that comes along with it. His deviate activities add to another main problem, anger and his not being able to control it. All addictions stem from another underlying issue, that needs to be addressed, but is often suppressed. His social upbringing is the main seed. If he can get back to that area of his life, accept his lack there of, and look at the blessings God has permitted, regardless of his past, he may be able to move on. He's not much different than the rest of us. He just acts out in a far more violent manner. I'm not justifying his allegedly placing "hits" out on people, but eventually that fruit, from the seed placed long ago, will rear it's ugly head. For him, it comes in fighting. For others, killing their wives, kids, family members ,and the company secretary with their words. Both slice at the heart of a person. The question is, which one is worst. The one that kills quick or or the one that kills slower? Both Kill.

Gotta disagree with you on this one pb3.
He definitely is 'different' from most of us, he was given opportunities that most of us can only dream about.
This man has been given many chances to straighten out his act, overcome his 'social upbringing'. I'd venture to say more than you or I would be given.
He was blessed with amazing athletic talent and more money than most on this MB will ever earn.
He is incredibly stupid and self centered. His actions only verify this.
Stupidity is not inherited or caused by osmosis from your surroundings, its an accumulation of bad/wrong thinking/actions.
Many of us come from less than ideal circumstances, but we don't become criminals. Gods' blessings to pac man included a free will, he made his own choices.
I don't hate the man, but I certainly will not find reasons to justify his actions either.
" Kill with words? " Words can only hurt if you let them, but bullets give you no choice in the matter.
I am a firm believer in second chances, but not a lifetime pass.

You know, I sarcastically refer to people as stupid from time to time. However, I think Adam Jones really is stupid. I mean, I think he has a brain disorder. He is incapable of learning. The whole "upbringing" argument only goes so far, and addresses morals, norms, etc. Even an animal learns when something hurts to stop doing it. I really think he's mentally challenged or something. It's sad, actually.

I am not going to call the man stupid, but there is certainly something going on in his mindset that is not functioning rationally. The blessing for many is that most of us realize that some of our decisions have been poor, and take measures to correct them due to experience, reflection or maturity. But I do believe that there are people who are so disconnected from reality that only years of therapy can assist in a shift of behavior and functioning in a reasonable capacity.
I tend to not judge people by how I act or if I made millions of dollars they should do blah, blah, blah. To me it is more a blessing that I am rational enough (I think) that experiences or others and even less desirable my own personal experience was enough to keep my life on track. When a person has the kind of opportunities that Pacman has been given, yet there are still significant deficits, then there seems to be more going on that the average mental capacity can fix.
Hopefully, he can get his life together and take advantage of people trained to assist is situations such as his. Too bad it didn't come at a time that he could positively use his talents in his chosen profession.

LOL, better you than someone serious about it. Heh.
Goodell was talking last pre-season about penalties for teams that sign players with previous problems that continue to have problems. any teeth to that or will Dallas escape a draft forfeit penalty?
My thoughts on this piece of **** has been well documented. I'll add, if he isn't served a lifetime ban from the NFL and another team decides to give him a shot. That team would then turn into one of my most disliked in the NFL.
Put his ass in the chair and fry his dumbass until Colonel Harland Sanders is jealous of how fried he is for all I care.
I love the way black women of my mom's generation rationalize. At some point I'm going to have to introduce you two ma'am. The two of you would probably get along great. Women like yourselves are the reason the bulk of my generation isn't making liscence plates right now. That being said, I have to agree with you. Mr. Jones doesn't realize how truly fortunate he is and makes stupid mistakes. It doesn't nessasarily mean HE'S stupid, it just means he's making dumb decisions.
Like many athletes, he's been coddled for the bulk of his life because of his ability. If you've always been coddled you get a sense of entitlement and unfortunately Mr. Jones ISN'T unique in that. Many athletes of his generation are like that. Quite frankly this generation of pro athlete in general are pampered little princess prima donnas. I have a great deal of respect for gents like Andre Johnson, Okoye, Mario Williams and Marvin Harrison because they play the game with a great deal of humility.

I still don't know how he got a 4 game suspension after he'd already been disciplined with a full year suspension.

He was on a zero tolerance reinstatement of an indefinite suspension. Then he went out and got into a fight with one of the guys handled to keep him out of trouble.

These are all excuses for people like him. I was raised in bad social environments in different parts of my life growing up, and I had moments in my life where I chose to involve myself in bad elements. I never chose to make the decisions that Pac Man ever has, and I never had football skills like him to fall back on to tell myself NOT to get into trouble.
There have been tons and tons of athletes in worst conditions than he was in growing up and they are great men. You make your own choices. Being a product of the hood or the ghetto is NEVER an excuse for doing the things that he has done over and over and over.
who cares...what a looser...can't he die already!!!
