for those Houstonians worried about the Texas Bowl:
6. Texas Bowl
Western Michigan (9-3) vs. Rice (9-3): If you like offense then this bowl is for you. Both of these teams have not struggled to score this season. Actually, these teams are pretty identical when you look at it. They both have good quarterbacks, good receivers and a good tight end. The only difference is that Western Michigan has a good defense.

She's missing the national name recognition factor. And, as are many others, I am probably a lot more willing to watch a stinker between two major football schools than anything between two schools that I can't name what city they're in - or what state that city is in.

(as I know many others don't care as long as it is good football).

Interesting blog post, though.

I think it was Herbstreet this morning on SC said his upset prediction was Ole Miss over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. I hope this game goes largely unpublicized for the most part... if Tech comes out dominant it could lead to some embarrassment (myself included). There's no way we should be favored (and aren't) but too many 'upset picks' is usually a bad thing for the underdog team. It almost makes people expect them the win.

That should be a great game. Boise St can put up points but I expect that one to be a tough, physical, low scoring game.

TCU is #1 in the country in rush defense and #2 in the country in total defense, scoring defense, and sacks.

Boise St, despite playing in the WAC, is #3 in scoring defense and #16 in total defense.

I won't be surprised if that's the most exciting bowl game :)
