Cutler wins Fed Ex Air Award not Schaub. WTF!!!!!

Big Lou

Hall of Fame
Schaub: 414 yards and 2 TD's 1 INT in Green Bay at 9 degrees
(Plus a clutch game winning 2 minute drill)

Cutler: 286 yards and 2TD's 1 INT at home against KC

OK, so how does Cutler deserve the award this week???
I guess Schaub will have to throw 4 TD's for over 500 yards left handed to be given any credit.

It's all based on fan voting. The Texans have the second-smallest fan base next to the Jaguars. I would have bet everything I owned that Schaub wouldn't win.

He won the AFC POW award though, which has zilch to do with the fan voting. That's the one that actually carries some prestige. The FedEx award doesn't mean anything.

Figures. Fans are stupid. All one has to do is look at the Pro Bowl votes by the fans.

It's because Schaub doesn't have diabetes.

Cutler is so sweet he gave himself diabetes.

Seriously, any award that's voted on by fans is a terrible award that has almost zero merit. The ProBowl only has a little merit because the retarded fan vote is (sometimes) outweighed by the coaches/players vote.

Where does that assertion come from?

It's from an article about a year ago. It compared TV markets to fan bases... it came out when all the talk about LA getting an existing franchise was a big topic.

Jacksonville had the smallest fan base and the smallest or second-smallest TV market. Green Bay had one of the top 3 fan bases, and the smallest or second-smallest TV market. The article attributed the small bases to the fact that Jax and Houston are expansion teams, and that Jax is already in a state with two other NFL franchises.

Of course, they were all approximations, as that sort of thing can't be measured with anything I can imagine is near 100% accuracy... but the numbers were interesting regardless.

Anyway, it may have changed slightly by now, but I doubt it. Is Houston having the second-smallest fan base actually surprising to anyone?

Seeing as how Houston is the 4th largest city in the US and football is the king sport in Texas. . . yes.

****ing Houston :(

Detroit has been around for a heck of a long time. As bad as they are, they have a lot of loyal fans. The Cardinals have been in Arizona for a while now - plus there isn't another hugely-popular NFL team in their state. In fact, San Diego is the only other NFL team even remotely close to Phoenix.

Once we become playoff contenders, I suspect the numbers for Houston will jump dramatically because of the size of Houston.

difference between Houston and other "struggling" teams.. is that we are in a top 5 city. If we start winning games.. we can easily have one of the larger fan bases.. while if a struggling team in a smaller market started winning games (Jax), there is only so high they are likely to get.

Cutler is probably more popular
This ^^^^
Oh let me count the times a Titans' player got shafted out of something like that due to a more popular player/team. I can think of more than one ROW award Chris Johnson was up for, only to be beat out by a RB, with worse game stats, from a more popular team.

Sadly this is true. I hate bandwagon fans though! Especially if they bandwagon on the Texans once they start making the playoffs, while me and most of the people who post on these forums have been riding through all the tough times since 2002.

Then let their experience be less that stellar?

Honestly I dont care if/when fans join this team, I sure as hell dont feel special because Ive injured more pain following this team than other fans. For all reasons they should laugh at me for being a sucker :)

Now... can we win todays game please... let the bandwagoners come ;)
