The opening drive of the game and how this weeks might turn this franchise around

Is there any team in the NFL that has had more success than the Texans with their first drive out of the gates?

We are real close to becoming a good team and IF we can "turn the corner" and win this week and take care of Oakland and Chicago (both games we will be favored to win) I can see us not only in the playoffs but as a serious contender by next season.

This week we need that great first drive we have been getting recently and then we need to follow it up with another score, this plus protecting the ball will get us this win. The Titans don't want to play from behind and more importantly this is the key to establishing an identity.

Get up, run the hell out of the ball but still have the big play threats with our receivers and Slaton. Then let the D attack/attack/attack.

So let go win this and finish the season with 6 straight and Mr. Smith you

A. Get another stud opposite of Mario
B. Find another back to go with Slaton
c. A hard hitting safety that scares the hell out of receivers

One more thing. Against the Titans you play 60 minutes of football or you might as well not bother showing up. Roll that prevent defense out there with 4 or 5 minutes left to go in the game and watch them rally to force overtime and/or win. Should the Texans get off to a fast start and get up by 10-14 points they need to keep playing or they will lose that game.

I don't care if they are up 38, they should still be trying to ram it down their throat. Not on every team--it ain't smart football--but against the Tacks smart football should be thrown out.

we have no problem going down the field its the red zone that gets us

thats why we should try different things for each down in the red zone

QB sneak
Run
Pass
FG

That would be great but honestly, I just don't want to go through watching what it would take to get that far down to begin with. I've seen too much of that already in 7 years without the comeback fireworks on the end.

They had a similar chance last season and blew it. Such is life.

The last two visits by the Titans to Reliant still leave a bitter aftertaste. And if it still stings as a fan, I can only hope that the players are living it and plan to rectify recent history.

I thought Davis Carr's QB 1-yard touchdown rush in the fnal seconds against Jax or our win against INDY were supposed to turn this team around????? It seam to me that every time we turn around, we get our asses handed to us the next week. He have won some games this year, but most of those teams were bottom dwellers. I like tat we didn't give this game away and didn't let the cold give our playes an excuse to loose. I think we have moved up to the midddle of the pack.

Our main problem in scoring terms is no backing up that first drive, last few games we have gone down field to score and then not followed it up with much at all. A couple of field goals and thats it, we really need to put the points on the board this week its been coming.

Anyone rember that guy that had a sign in our inaugural game vs. Dallas that said:
" 1-15 is okay. Just win this one!!"

I think either that dude or even someonelse needs to make a sign that says:

9-7 is okay. Just win this one!!!

I think you mean 7-9 is ok

From the Texans perspective it's an important game for only sentimental reasons since we are no longer have even in theory a shot at the playoffs this season.

I'm really looking excited for this game. The last few weeks have been good but I wasn't really really excited for those games like I am for this one. Hopefully we can come out and pull out a victory. It would be a tremendous accomplishment. :fans:

you might through a d. in there to grab a big time run stuffer

i'm willing to risk another season with meyers and brisel to see if they "gel" even thought clearly they are all very much in sync, those two guys just stink.

I was all over those two early but now I am willing to give it another year although we need to continue to bring in more O-linemen

I really want to see Okam play the last few games to see what we have in him before we start saying our interior d-line needs fixing remember Amobi is freaking 21 he is a normal junior in college

If the Texans win this game, I think the Green Bay game will be more of a franchise turnaround moment than the Titans game... mainly because The Texans have already kind of established themselves as a good home team. But that road win at what might be the most hostile environment in the NFL - that was incredible, gutsy, and it was done the toughtest way possible - starting from the 2 yard line with under 2 minutes left.

Anyway, not to belittle a potential win against the Titans... but if this sparks something, I think it comes more from that HUGE road win.

I'd like to see him play more as well, but, then again, I also want to win. Amobi, although young, and injured is also not physically set up to be a run stuffer. I'd like to see a situational "big man" maybe Okam is that guy but I wouldn't mind drafting one in the 3rd or something to compete and push or eliminate Okam from the discussion.

As far as Meyers and Brisel, sigh, well, again they are gelling but man they get blown up alot. they have the rhythm down though and that's almost more important than anything in this offense. I vote to keep them going as well.

Red Zone has been the achilles heal. I say if the WR or RB cant' score when they get to the 21 yard line they take a knee. I think this would help us overcome our woes. The strategy takes advantage of our bieng stronger at the 21 yard line as opposed to the 1 yard line.

I don't care if it takes 15 FG's just win dammit. I'll take an ugly win, although kicking the crap out of the Tacks would be a great early Christmas present.
