Report: Pacman's neck injury is career threatening

Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the neck injury suffered by Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones Sunday could end his career.

It was previously reported that the injury could end his season, but Schefter reports that it might even be worse than first thought.

Per Schefter, Jones’ body went numb for two minutes when he first suffered the injury. He has been having tests on his neck this week and is planning to meet with a neck specialist in North Carolina.

I'm no fan of Adam Jones, but I hate to hear about guys getting these serious injuries.

I do to (hate to hear about serious injuries) but we need to keep this in perspective. That giant case of the dumbass that he's walking around with is just as "career threatening" as any neck injury. If the guy can't play anymore he's earned a small mountain of money and if he has somehow managed to blow all that money in this short a period of time then he is certainly qualified for a job in either the food services or janitorial industries.

He'll be just fine.

Meh, it could've been avoided if Goodell stuck with his policy. Jones should've already been banned from the League.

If it is career ending I sincerely hope he treats it as a wake up call and rights his life.

I certainly wish no ill will on anyone, but it really does make you wonder about that little beyotch named Karma.

I know how it sounds, but I think his career was already threatened. If he recovers, I don't see him having a long career.

Terrible news, and I would never wish this kind of thing on anyone.

But, what goes around comes around...

Does the NFL not have some form of disability for it's players that get career ending injuries "in the line of duty" so to speak? Would only figure a unionized entity would have that.

Somewhere in Las Vegas there is a guy that is paralyzed directly because of "Pacman", just because he went to work to support his family.......I don't give a crap what happens to Mr. Jones. With other players...yeah it's sad, with "Pacman" I don't care.

To keep the anti-union perspective in line on this, keep in mind the NFL has an anti-trust exemption as well. Basically, there are two entities negotiating here.

The most they've ever given out is around $14,000 I think. They really don't care about players no longer in the game if there's no profit. The players have been fighting the league over it for years and some guys give up their paychecks to support retired players and their families who are disabled in some way.

What I really find strange about NFL players knowing career ending injuries not being provided adequate league compensation, is that even though it may cost more than for the average person, players could take from some of their millions (or even hundred of thousands) enough to pay for their own disability insurance.

Such disability policies are available to all NFL players. In fact, there are even disability policies that college draft prospects can individually purchase covering them up to the time of NFL contract.

They just reported on the news here in Austin that his injury is not career threatening however he could miss the rest of the seaon.

"THAT'S MY CORNERBACK"

Always a classic Wolf!

I kind of thought he was just an eye, a mouth, an endless pit for a stomach, and a big yellow ball-head/body...never saw a neck on him.

alright alright that was lame...It's funny though, reading everybody saying "Well, I don't want to say it, BUT..." It's okay everyone. He deserves it.

No, I doubt it. His ego would make him WAY unqualified.

Karma makes no sense because we could easily find someone who did nothing but be a good boy or good girl their whole lives....only to get cancer and die, or have a train run over them, or meet some other fate. And then what about people who ARE good little boys and good little girls, yet their parents were awful awful people? Kinda' negates the concept of karma, to me.

I guess Jesus died on the cross because of karma? LOL.

Sorry to be a Doug Downer in the thread. There's been so much talk about karma with Jared Allen, and now this thread.

PacMan makes mistakes. So do we.

I've never put myself in a position to paralyze another human being. Pac-man has. That's KARMA.

Karma is not always earned in this lifetime.

Which says everything about you.

Good people have to die too. Take your boy Jesus, for example. Karma is not an immortality cloak. It's also not hereditary, there is no karma gene. Your concept of karma is negated most likely due to the fact that you don't understand karma, perhaps because of some other beliefs, maybe both. One thing for sure though, is Adam "Pacman" Jones is a human being who despite given so much talent, fame, fortune (and everything that gooooes with it) continues to prove himself unworthy of any of it.

He's responsible for someone's paralysis, then himself suffers injury with similar repercussions and you think what?

Jared Allen takes dirty shots after dealing dirty shots and you think what?

Ironic? Sure.
