great win

they dont look like a team playing for nothing. i think we are seeing the best football played by our texans ever.

Yeah and once again, it looks like we have a D, AT THE END OF THE SEASON.

We better fire Dick Smith. All I care about at this point are good games and that we fire Dick Smith.

This win came off a short week in brutal weather conditions. Great efforts my Schaub, Slaton, Walter, Ryans, and Mr. Bruiser, Vonta Leach! How 'bout the plays by Leach today.

Unleash DeMeco more often please! Maybe getting this win despite all those turnovers will get the monkey off our back but who knows. Three more games to see if we can improve in that category and keep up the good work elsewhere.

This was NOT a great win....they won because they were lucky enough to get the last possession. Turnovers were the cause why the Packers scored then it would have been a great game had they not turned the ball over. They cannot play like this against the Titans next weekend or it will be a massacre.

Exactly, he is like a Tom Rathman type a guy ... sweeeeeeet!

it was a very unclean game... but thats what made it a great win. the D and schaub really stepped up when it mattered

Sometimes when you take a whiz on fortune you get shocked and sometimes you get lucky. ...today we got a win despite getting shocked.

If Kubiak can't see that, then he needs to go, too.

Smith pulls this crap at the back-half of the schedule every season.

Three seasons in a row. I know he does because I make this same post every year at this time.

Excellent win in tough conditions... but am I the only one thinking if those calls (fortunate spots, phantom holding, undetected fumbles) against GB had happened against us we'd be screaming for justice!

Anyway, it's about time we had some luck and it's still, a great win. I just hope it doesn't cause the FO to disregard our weaknesses. This team still needs serious work to become a play-off threat.

It's almost like Smith turns the calendar, realizes his defense has helped play his team out of contention after eight games, and then with nothing to lose for the rest of the season, lets them play more aggressively and they start playing well enough to pick up some W's.

But this one's for Demeco's game-saving sack: :d:

Give some props to the refs today, they were so on our side.

There were like 4 or 5 mini-Hocules running around in blacks and whites today.

Agreed. Even Shannon Sharpe alluded to the fact that we need to get rid of the DC.

No it wasn't, but most of the turnovers were not Ints; they were fumbles in the freezing cold at Lambeau. We won't see all those fumbles in warmer games. Hopefully, the Ints. will stay down.

Yes, it most definitely was a great win. Operative word: win.

Nobody here will argue the Texans played a perfect game because the critical turnovers say otherwise. Nevertheless, the fact that the defense held the Packers and forced a punt, followed by the offense going on a 75-yard, turnover-free, game-winning drive is what makes this an amazing win.

This was not a game the Texans usually win. They got it done. Give credit where credit is due.

In that case, they owe us a rebate for the non-call on Donald Lee's offensive pass interference for a TD.

I dunno about a great win, but its a significant win. Going up there in those weather conditions after a short week following an emotional win and having enough to beat a descent team is significant progress for the Texans IMO.
And doing it in spite of losing the turnover battle by a 4-1 ratio.
I didn't think they had a prayer to win this one, but I was wrong and I'm glad of it. Congrats to the Texans, and bring on the Titans next week in Reliant !

They called a ticky-tacky offside penalty on Kampman; a series after overlooking the blatant Mario offside, where his whole body was over the LOS, which resulted in a DeMeco sack on Rodgers pushing them back 9 yards and out of FG range.. This was when we were tied, I believe, at 21 so this was a total game changing non-call.

I hate to agree with this but I must! The Texans played a great game but killed themselves repeatedly with mistakes. First off its a good thing JJ covered his first muffed punt, another that Matt Turk took off on the near blocked punt and that for once the correct call was made when KDub fumbled to ball after his forward progress was stopped, otherwise it could have been even uglier! This would have been a great win because of the things we did right but to me those things they did to try and give the game away overshadow the good for me. I am sorry but I can no longer be happy just getting a win and scraping bye due to stupid mistakes. To me this is not a great win it just a win, it could have been great, hell itshould have been great! Instead there were fumbles in the red zone and passes completed by Rogers in between over double coverage. I dont blame those of you who are happy with a win no matter how its achieved but from here on out I will demand more of this team. Its time to win clean and win big against some decent teams quit blwing it late and or scraping by.

Wow. I guess the glass really *is* always half-empty in this place.

You rang?? I have been reading and looking for a chance to jump in with my :twocents:

Was it a pretty win? NO

Did we hold it together, overcome adversity and get the win? YES

How about the smile on Shaub's face at the beginning of that last drive. I  his heart.

For some reason, I had a really good feeling going into this game. I was catching up on DVR, so wasn't able to comment during the game. It took me til the end of the game to finally catch up. Along the way, I was reading the game thread. I was dismayed at some of the negativity displayed and the number of posters who gave up on the team. Some of them multiple times. Good thing the players didn't give up.

In some ways, I was glad I couldn't comment. It really gave me a chance to see how others were reacting. And color me unimpressed with the negative fans who like to complain all over the threads.

No, I don't believe that reflects the mood.

What I see is a generally knowledgeable forum utterly terrified that the recent improvement in defense is going to result in an off-season of inaction. It's fantastic that the Texans are playing better ball right now, but the bottom line is: the improvement started once the season was over.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but I can't abide the thought of another off-season of false hope caused by front-office miscalculations. Fix the defense. Fix the turn-overs. Then talk to me about half-empty :-)

Agreed.

Even on the game day thread most everyone was saying this game was over near the end of the 4th, pretty pathetic.

I just said this game is in no way over annnnnnnd of course

Texans won!!!

Yeah, I was one of those giving them up in the 2nd half. It's obvious the Texans are a better team now as they are playing through their mistakes and winning on the road. After losing their first four games, the Texans have gone 6-3 in nine games. If they manage to squeak out a win against the Titans, we very well could have our first winning season.

I'm thinking it's a nice thing to not be in last place at the end of the season for a change. Let someone else do that for a while, I'm tired of it.

Anyone catch the "Houston You have a problem" sign? Like we've never heard that one before.

I got one... Houston cut the cheese! How does it smell Green Bay?:heh:

*replacing one original sign with another*

Guilty as charged. I think it is a conditioned response which we will all have to unlearn now that we have a real football team that overcomes little adversities.

How about the smile on Shaub's face at the beginning of that last drive.

Ya' think in the huddle he said, "We've got 'em where we want 'em." I fell:heart: with Schaub when he said that during the Miami? game. My memory ain't what it once was.

I think some of the negativity came after stupid plays by the Texans, which is a normal response. I was so pissed at JJ I wanted to rip Shadow's #12 jersey to shreads! Decided not to cause he has had #12 on his football team for the past three years, which is the real reason I bought him a #12 to start with.

If we didn't care, we wouldn't *****! I'm proud of our team today and what they accomplished. They played with grit and determination, and gave us a glimpse of what's to come in the future. Personally, I will continue to complain when they do dumb stuff, like 4 freaking turnovers which almost cost us the game. I LOVE my team and will support them until the day I die. BUT, I also have the right to grip when they cause me to ALMOST have a damn heart attack!!

I can tell you one thing for sure. If JJ was my son I would be kicking his ass when he got home, not giving him a hug!!!:)

Too many people are calling for him to be kicked out of the house!!
I'm sure he'll get it in the film room, but I just think it's rediculous all
these people calling for him to get cut/benched only NOW. We've
won because of this cat, and I don't think he's the best he's gonna
be when it's all said-and-done.

I thought that was a great game by the Texans. Here's to all the posts that accuse us of not complimenting our team on a solid win.

Oh, I don't know. I think we're seeing a young team getting better by playing.

I know the mantra is "Fire Richard Smith", and that's supposed to solve the global warming problem, and create world peace and all, but . . .

Yeah, the glass is half-empty. Always has been.

Mission accomplished...The Texans :logo:won the game..:smiliedance:

and

Dullas lost... :thud:..

:coffee:

Mario got back on sides. Thats not a penalty. They snapped it a full second after he was re-set.

What?!
how can he suck when he threw for damn near 300 yds, hit 63%, and tossed two TDs?
Help me out here; I need some clarification on this one.

I can't speak for whoever made that statement but 1 for 10 on third down is sucking pretty bad despite all the pretty numbers.

Umm, wrong. Mario got back on his side of the LOS before the snap. He was not offsides.
