How would you feel if David Carr...

GP

Go Texans!
...wins a Super Bowl ring with this year's Giants? Just let that thought sink in for a second. He stands a good chance of getting a freaking Super Bowl ring.

(Sigh)

So this is why we must root against the Giants. I wish I didn't have to do it, but it has to be done. It has to be done. Period.

Who cares if Mr. Mittens gets a ring for carrying a clipboard. I say good for him, if it happens.
:specnatz:

I have thought about this...

The Giants make it to the NFC Championship, Eli gets hurt and can't play in the SB. The defense wins the NFC Championship and David Carr starts in the SB.:mcnugget:

It would be entertaining though.

Of all the ex-Texans...

I'd just have to laugh. It would be pretty funny.

I wouldn't consider him "winning" a ring. It'd be more like being awarded a ring.

At least the K, P and backup players actually do something for the team - unlike Mickey Mouse.

Would you rather Vince Young & Bud Adams win a SB ring? I thought Carr was a disaster here and wanted him gone however I have nothing personal against him. Contrary to my initial reaction I am currently OK having him as Eli's backup. Believe it or not I think he can do OK in the Giants offense since he doesn't have to do too much.

carr pretty much sucks in any offense. the giants ask more of their QB than you may think. defenses respect Manning. there is no defense in the world that would respect or be afraid of a Carr-led offense. Just blitz him and watch him go into the Fresno Tuck and curl up in the fetal position. It's pretty simple gameplan to beat him.

I would think it would be wierd for Manning to get hurt and for David to have to come in. Oh boy, the NY media would have a field day with one of his performances.

Carr sucks and dude should be walking down some fashion runway with a manpurse and has no business in the league. The Giants better hope they never find out what Carr is made of....he is made of doggie doo.

Jeeeeezz. I can see the front page of SI right now.

"Super Bowl winning QB David Carr only wears sheep wool mittens...because he's worth it."

:gun:

It's not a manpurse!

It's active man gear.

hahaha

I wouldn't care at all. Lots of guys who aren't worth a damn get Super Bowl rings and just being handed one for standing on the sideline doing nothing would be in my opinion kind of fitting for David. He was drafted first overall and given a mountain of money. He was given the starting QB job without any competition and he wasn't allowed to lose it no matter how badly he played. He was given all the credit for things that went right and took none of the blame for the horrendous sack totals and pitiful offensive output until the very end when it became undeniable that he was a major part of the problem.

In short he's been handed everything he's ever gotten in the NFL so why not hand him a free Super Bowl ring too? He could never possibly be proud of it or feel deserving of it.

You'd better knock on wood or find a few dozen four leaf clovers. Just the utterance of those words might have a butterfly like effect that would put Eli out with an injury for a few games. Just the mention of it is like opening Pandora's Box.

Disagree with that. I'm guessing just about any player who has a Super Bowl ring probably feels proud to have gotten one. Whether they played a little or a lot, they were part of that team and contributed to that team.

I can see how any NFL player would feel proud and deserving of one.

I just don't see how David Carr could manage to do so.

"Rings are awesome"

Robert Horry

for the record I am not taking a shot at him, I like Will Smith...err Robert Horry , but who would have thought that he would have more rings than Hakeem.. but right place at right time is all

The only reason I would care is because for that to happen, Dallas would have to lose. It would not have anything to do with David Carr except for him being a member of that team.

Carr's done his part ... he hasn't played .

LOL. Snap!

Hook 'Em is in a tough jam because he's also a Giants fan. Come on, Hook 'Em, if David was another team that's doing as well as NY...you'd secretly wish that he didn't get to the SB. Correct?

"Carr's done his part...he hasn't played." Too freaking funny, Honoring Earl.

What if Eli Manning leads the Giants to victory in the NFC championship game, and then get a bad case of the flu or something the day before the Super Bowl. Then David Carr starts for the Giants in the Super Bowl and manages the game sufficiently well to lead them to victory in that one game. Not only would David Carr earn his ring, he would earn a permanent place in the annals of NFL history.

Wouldn't that be something?

Carr was a good guy, but not a good NFL Quarterback.

I would have no problem with him getting a ring for toting a clipboard.

On another note the ring would have to be HUGE to get it over those mittens of his.

What if a giant Monkey destroys the field before hte game?

I think thats equally possible to the scenario you described.

If, by some miracle, the Giants end up in the superbowl with DC at the helm, I am 100% confident they'll lose the game

You mean like King Kong? That would be very disturbing if that happened.

If the Titans and NY GIants led by DC are the superbowl teams, thats exactly what I"ll be rooting to happen (hopefully no one will get hurt too badly.... some people will have to be eaten, of course, but that is inevitable)

I don't give a crap what Carr does on the Giant bench...there are lots of benchwarmers in the league with a ring.

Honestly, I don't think I would care. It would be more disturbing if he led a team to the Super Bowl, however he's riding the pine and no one is even going to remember he was on the team.

Honestly, who'd really care? I haven't even thought about that dude in months. Eh, I guess as long as this GP and second honeymoon's around we'll continue to see his name pop up.

hey buddy, i didn't bring the dude up but if someone brings up Carr and his suckitude, expect a long suffering Texans fan to chime in. he who forgets the past is destined to repeat it. anywho, carr sucks.

Excellent point there. If all of a sudden the light bulb came on, the impossible happened, and this guy instantly became the player we were always told he would be and then he led another team to a Super Bowl then I'd be enormously ticked off. That would be a whole different ball of wax right there.

As a backup he's meaningless though.

It's not about forgetting the past. It's should be about moving on from the past.

It wasn't Carr, it was the O-line. Who could succeed when they're being protected by Todd Wade and throwing to Corey Bradford? :D

I'd be happy for him. He's a good guy so there's no reason to root against him. It's not like he's the starter there or anything, Eli would have earned the ring (again) and David would have just been a part of the supporting cast.

Interesting things do happen. Suppose the Giants do make it to the Super Bowl, and something happens that Eli has to come out of the game. What if David has to come in, does heroics of the century, everything clicks and leads his team to a 42-14 victory and is named MVP. I could even live in peace with that. Beyond the Cowboys and Texans, there aren't too many other teams or players (even David Carr) that I have more than a casual interest in.

I'm only bringing up the topic because it WILL be a topic when the Giants are playing in the Super Bowl.

If you think ESPN or someone else won't do a story on poor old David Carr who finally landed with a super duper neat team...you're in for it.

If the Giants make it, this will certainly be a topic. Just thought I'd throw it out there so we can deal with it. I think a lot of you "say" that it wouldn't bother you, only because it hasn't happened yet and you think it won't. So you won't even go there (yet).

It's going to happen. You'll see him on the sideline, wearing those mittens, flashing his Joe Jonas grin at everybody. And your anger will arise. It'll be Vietnam-esque flashbacks. LOL.

Unless you look at how he utterly threw the entire Texans organization under the bus when he went to Carolina and started making all his catty remarks to the media.

But he still cashed that $8 million check, didn't he? Rich brats shouldn't smack talk the people who pay them outrageous money to suck for so long.

Yeah, he's a loveable little fuzzball. I hope he wins a ring.

I don't care who gets a freaking ring as long as it DOES NOT have Tennessee Titans on it!! (or Dallas Cowboys.) I detest the meatballs because of their organization, and the Cowboys because of their obnoxious fans! Crazy!

I wanna see a Giants/Jets SB with Farve making Eli look like the mediocre QB that he is. Only good thing about the Giants winning would be Eli having more SB RINGS than his media loving brother!! MIght be fun seeing a Manning SB though! Mannng vs Manning!! GAWD spare us!!!:gun:
