Win These Last Five Games For A 9-7 Record

I think its possible, but if I had to put my money on a guess, I think we'll probably:

Beat the Jags
Beat the Raiders
Lose to Chi
Lose to Ten
Lose to GB

That'll put us at 6-10

At leat beat Ten.

Admittedly that's the only game that i really want them to win. This season is a wash & at this point a 9-7 record is just a detriment to us getting better for next year b/c it pushes our draft slot down.

9-7 was my prediction at the beginning of the year. I think I'll be wrong, but hope not. Would be nice to finish the year on a positive note, but, we play UGLY football, and I just don't see us beating GB on their turf, and I think the Raiders will be tough to beat. They kicked the crap out of the Broncs yesterday, and they have a hostile environment at home. PLUS, we are HORRIBLE on the road! HOPEFULLY, pride and home field advantage will net us win's over our division rivals. We just need to be the 12th man for our last three home games and end this year with positive hopes and dreams for next season.

I think that the Raiders will be an easy win. That win over Denver was a divisional game, and Denver really has a terrible defense.

I see us going 2-3 over the last 5

Beat Jacksonville and Oakland

Lose to GB, Tenn and Chicago

Just my opinion. They could beat Chicago, but I doubt it.

for the Texans to go 9-7 the defense has to get it's act together (and keep it together), and the QB (either of them) has to quit turning the ball over. If both of those happen, we could go 9-7. However, I'm thinking 6-10 for this year, maybe 7-9.

I don't think we beat Oakland in Oakland. They have one of the best cb in football. Our surest bet is probably Jacksonville and even that isn't a sure thing.

Will they do it? It'd be very sweet.

It'd be nice, yes. But then the media, the fans, and the team will feel the Texans have turned the corner. "You know, we just got off to a bad start, but look how we finished the season." would be the quote of the offseason.

And speaking of offseason (already?) since they turned the corner after rolling 6 in a row - why fix it if it ain't broke, but just need to be tweaked. Schaub would get his extension, Rosenfelds (now losing the "copter" since he helped start THE turnaround with the Brown win) gets a 2 year extension. Smith is has apprarently developed the defense and they're on a roll - he gets to stick around to improve it for next year with just a "few key pieces" missing...... so they focus the draft on defensive line and acquire a "just past" his prime RB.

.... but I don't see 5 in a row happening. I see 2 more similar to above, Oak and Jac - even those don't seem to be gimmie's. Anything more is icing.

I dig the optimism but I'm sure the Texans are handling these games one at a time, and I suggest we, as fans, all do the same.

yep, IF we're lucky. I expect nothing from this team at this point, so if they win, yay. :howdy:

I don't think we beat Oakland in Oakland. They have one of the best cb in football. Our surest bet is probably Jacksonville and even that isn't a sure thing.

You do realize we have the best receiver in football too right? Along with the fact that outside of Asomougha, they have literally nothing.

We always go to Oakland, and we always beat them, and with how hilarious their FO has been this year, I actually still expect a win there.

But yeah, I'd say the winnable games are probably JAX, OAK, then probably CHI unless TEN or GB has playoff spots sewn up already and are choosing to rest starters that are nicked up.

I think we win the last game against Chicago for the same reason we beat Jacksonville. They'll be resting their starters for the playoffs.

I believe we'll get W's against Jax on Battle Red Day and Oakland.

Dont think we'll beat Green Bay in Lambeau and outside of Tennessee having homefield locked up we shouldn't beat them either.

7-9 imo.

Honestly, I'd be somewhat pleased with 7-9. Not to say that it's a good thing, but from what this season has become 7-9 wouldn't be so bad.

one game at a time people

Battle Red MNF at home

we should take care of thoes jags

when we play in red we usually play lights out football :gun:

I think 8-8 again is more likely. I see it playing out as follows:

Monday Night against Jacksonville I expect the Texans to win. I'll be sick if they can't manage that one. That makes us 5-7

At Green Bay I just don't know how that's possible for this team. That's like asking them to reverse the earth's rotation with the power of their minds or something. It's just out of the question entirely. If it happens and the Texans win it then that will all be on Green Bay. They will have laid an enormous egg. We will simply be the beneficiaries of said egg. It won't happen though so we lose that and fall to 5-8

Home against the Teets is a tough one to call. It really is. Much of it will depend on things like how much the Green Bay game took out of us the week before, how badly the Teets need this game and totally aside from that whether or not they've peaked too soon. I have no idea what happens here so being a Texans fan and all I'm picking a Texan win there. In a lot of ways that would help salvage the season in the minds of a lot of fans so I hope they pull it off. We are 6-8 at this point. Familiar ground.

At the Raiders I'm going with the Texans again. We are 3-0 lifetime against the Raiders and they never play is well. Whether it's played here or there seems to make no difference and hopefully that happens again this week. We climb up to 7-8.

The season finale will be a lot like last years with the visiting team not needing the win and resting a lot of starters I expect. If this is the case then we maybe get a worthless win against the Bears to pull even at 8-8.

That's how I see it.

I agree with your assement of Jacksonville and the Raiders. Chicago will depend on if the Bears have it clinched by then, if not, they'll be wanting this game and that will make it tough going.

I think Green Bay and the Titans are loses though, so maybe we go 7-9. That would be nice actually, considering how this season has been. I expect we will be NO LESS than 6-10. We really should take the Jags and Raiders.

Winning shouldnt even be the priority anymore. The coaches need to decide who isnt in our future plans and sit them for good (Green, Weaver, so on). Also get all the young guys playing time NOW. Start Molden, Okam and so on. Lets find out what these guys can do with a few starts under their belts.

Let the team know we are not going to except this level of play. Everyone is going to be evaluated the rest of the year and changes are going to be made. Tell the young guys you know they are going to make mistakes and thats fine but we better see 110 % effort.

This is not giving up this is moving forward.

That must be some mighty sweet koolaide you're drinking there, my friend. :victory: :texflag:

Seriously, we beat the Titans in 2004, and that is it. Our record against them is almost as bad as our Indy record. 1-13 vs. 2-11. The Titans are one of, if not the, best team in the AFC this year. And we are cellar dwellers. While I will certainly be rooting my ass off, along with the family I'm bringing along for that one, I would consider it a huge-gargantuan-monumental upset if we were to squeak out a win. Remember, Commander Cody...errrr....Sage Rosencopter will be our QB for that one. And our D will still suck under Richard Smith.

No, it's not Kool-Aid. I'm just taking into account the possibility that the game may be an upset for the Titans. You see we have a tough game against the Packers in Green Bay before we play them. They coast against Cleveland (in Nashville) before coming to Houston. The week after that they have Pittsburgh at their house. They could look past us and just be thinking "easy wins against the Browns and Texans, then we play a real team". That's totally possible. Happens all the time.

I just hope that Cleveland doesn't jump up and smack the snot out of them. We want them to roll over the Browns and then come to Houston feeling happy with themselves and thinking of Pittsburgh.

Plus we can't be too beat up in Green Bay. It can work, it just takes a series of events to go the way we want it to.

I gotcha'. It's a matter of the stars aligning and that game being the nut that the blind squirrel finds, 'eh?

Hey, 'any given Sunday' and all that jazz. It would be an awesome game to win, especially since it's my oldest son's first regular season game and I'm bringing the entire family for his b-day present.

But, it's just the past two years of the Titans visiting Reliant that kind of leaves me gasping for air...I mean hope and all that crazy thinking called optimism. Rob Bironas kicking an NFL-record 8 FG's last season, the VY stake-through-the-heart run the season before that...I just expect choke and failure from our football team these days. And that expectation by me won't change until they stop doing it on a consistent basis.

All that beating the Titans in our crib means to us fans...and our players still can't find it within themselves to do it unless HWSNBN is calling the shots back in '04. It frustrates the crap out of me...well it used to at least, cuz I ain't got no crap in me to be frustrated out of these days.

Texs vs Jags-W i see a win here like most of u both teams have nothing to play for other then pride finnally MNF back in houston

Texans vs Packers- THe packers will have something to play for keeping pace in the tight NFC North Race and the texans will play for spoiler but i predict a LOSS to cold to Loud and to much engery in lambo and a strong packers december team to much to handle IMO

Texans vs TItans -Now i think Tenn will take care of biz nass aganist Lions and CLE so what would that make them 12-1 so wouldnt that wrap up home field atvantage and bye for the playoffs no other team can catch them what does pitts is the only one with like 8 winz i think and maybe the jets anywayz i have no idea who will win this one

Texas vs Raiders -W texans win raiders have never beat us

Texans vs CHI no coming in i think CHI will be 9-6 and GB will be 9-7 so CHI deff does not wont to lose this one they wanna get to 10-6 and win the divison but there playing in houston and its time for another last game high note with texans playing spoiler

matt might be rdy for some reps for the Titans Game i think with sage on standby

MNF and TItans game is OBV the most important games for the locker room IMO we dont want to be the divison punk bitches anymore and i know the tenn record is like 2-11 but we need to narrow that game and might has well start it this year 3-11 then maybe next year 5-11 HAHAHAH cut that **** in half

If nothing else happens this year, I'd just like to see us punk Jacksonville and have someone else roast in last place for once.

If that means dumbass errr Dick Smith keeps his job .... I'd rather lose out. That would likely put Kubiak on the hot seat from the opening gun next season .... maybe this team would play like they were all on the hot seat. This team has nothing to play for this season (other than pride) , may as well position themselves for next season.

I think we lose to the Titans because they are very good and Green Bay.

Raiders is an away game against a schizophrenic team that is surprisingly only one game behind the Texans in the standings. Jags is a home game against a team they usually do well against. However, the Texans are historically lousy in prime time. I think they split these games one way or the other.

That leaves Chicago. If the Bears care the Texans lose; if they are sliding into the play-offs the Texans win.

I think 2-3 to finish 6-10.

I hope OAK leaves the "best" CB one on one with AJ.

AJ is going to abuse him...if <insert QB here> can throw the ball in his general direction.

Of course they could put the "best" CB on Walter and double Andre...I don't know if the Raiders CBs are assigned players or stay on one side of the field though.

I would love to see Nnamdi vs Johnson, that would be amazing and make it one helluva game. I seriously think the game against OAK won't be as easy as some of you guys think, I can easily see it being a game decided by a FG or a TD. This game is going to suck big time for me, I'll be rooting for both sides. I'll be happy for whoever wins; but I would like to see the Texans win since they have a chance at going 9-7 whereas the best the Raiders can do is a 8-8.

I hope we win them all but not at the cost of keeping Richard Smith on the defensive side

I believe we are 2-2 in primetime which I do not consider lousy in the least considering those were are first primetime games ever, almost beating GB in a great game.

Hmmm - interesting. I guess I just remember the two Sunday night games where they looked pretty bad. Were those the last two?

Or maybe I just don't remember correctly. I can easily believe that.

We spanked the Broncos last year
We beat Dallas of course
Lost a great game at the last second to GB
Got blown out by KC

Pretty sure 2-2.

Seattle beat them 42-10 and rushed for 320 yards in 2005. That game sticks in my mind and I thought it was played Sunday night. I did a quick web search but can't find a place that summarizes game times with results. I may try again when I have more time.

This is all i want, dont care how we finish. I would just like us to be off the bottom place. Can see us beating Oak, Jags and Den thats all really

Yeah, I remember that game. Their backup RB even hung a 100 on us after Alexander got his buck forty something. Good times, good times....:gun:

I believe that was a sunday night game because I had to shut it off

I think AJ or someone went to that game because they were talking about the fans being d*cks if I am not mistaken

O ya you are correct!

Probally better I forgot about that one.

That puts us at 2-3 in primetime.

I was wondering about the whole primetime thing so I did a search in wikipedia. Apparently, 2006 was the year ESPN left SNF and took up MNF (replacing ABC). NBC took over SNF the same year.

The Jags game will be the first MNF in Houston in a long time. Though the Texans have been on SNF, I'm pretty sure they haven't been on the NBC version of SNF, yet and, IMO, SNF is *the* primetime game nowadays...
