Texans-Browns Preview

Put some stuff together as a bit of a preview:

Texans-Browns

I am particularly concerned about the Wildcat stuff and that the Browns designed their defense last week to shut down Lee Evans.

Also concerned because they are another 3-4 team.

Browns are a very up and down team. Kinda like the Texans. Texans really need to not turnover the ball because the Browns offense has been struggling and they don't need to bail them out like Buffalo did.

You think???

:sarcasm:

I am especially looking forward to seeing if we can have close to the success we had in the run last week against the Browns. Call it the movable object vs. the stoppable force. We haven't been able to run against the 3-4 but the Browns give up big yardage against the run. This looks like the type of game that could be very entertaining to a casual observer who isn't rooting specifically for one of the teams. What I mean is it should be high scoring with multiple mistakes on each side and numerous lead changes. Luckily(?) for us we are pretty much all numb to this season already.

Well yeah, and if only the Titantic was on the look out for icebergs....

But really, the Browns offense needs some bailing out. They need their defense and special teams to help them. And their defense hasn't always been able to do that.

So in other words, I don't want to see the Texans getting into a throw first mindset, even if they struggle some trying to run.

It seems to me that one by one opposing teams are clamouring to line up in the soup kitchen.................and the "soup of the day" is the Texans. :mcnugget:

This game should be titled "The Underachievers Annonymous Bowl".

Both teams fan bases have been let down by bad breaks, injuries, and plain poor execution.

When I visit this site the comments are an almost an exact mirror image of the Browns site I frequent. (dawgbones.com). Fire the coach, our QB blows, our defense stinks, ect.

I just hope both teams can actually play a good game for four quarters. Something the Browns have been unable to due lately. Here's hoping for a good game with no injuries.

The wildcat?

Dolphins ran it and we beat them.
The Texans beat the Dolphins because the defense was so bad Miami scored too quickly. This allowed enough time for the Texans to drive the field back for the final score.

They didn't defense it very well. Stopped it some but got burnt for a TD once.

The Texans defense tries hard but they are not the most football smart guys in the world. They can be hurt by overpursuit and not recognizing the play. Do you really want to see Joshua Cribbs running wild with the Texans defense on the field?

We need the Texans offense to play their game. We need the Browns offense to shoot themselves in the foot, sort of like the dropped passes in the Colts game.

Snow probabilites are high at gametime!

Neither here nor there as far as our team is concerned, but it will make the game more palatable to watch if the weather is extreme in some fashion.

Ugh , I'd like to forget the Texans struggles against this scheme .... but the nightmares are just too numerous and too fresh.

Amen to the no injuries thing.

And yeah, things kinda suck around these parts right now. But as usual, we still hope. LOL

The Texans are fully healthy aside from quarterback Matt Schaub as the team prepares to head to Cleveland, according to Texans coach Gary Kubiak after practice on Friday.

Except for Schaub, the Texans are at full strength. How often can a team say that this late in the season ?
To have a 3-7 record in a year when the team is not bitten that badly by the injury bug just compounds the frustration and disappointment of the season.

You put a lot more effort into it, I was just going to with "the toilet bowl" or suck vs. suck.

Don't get me wrong, it's not on local TV even in Austin, TX so I will be driving to the sports bar, spending my money, actling like an ***** rooting for my team in battle red probably just to get my hopes crushed. What's wrong with me?

I think for some reason the league is trying to make us rivals, but we're more of twin teams; I can always relate with Browns fans and vice versa.

Back in the good ole days of the Oilers it really was a rivalry. I used to go to the Astrodome to watch those games. We both got our teams taken away from us so that kinda puts us in the same boat so to speak.

I live in TX, (Livingston), so I always watch the Texans and even root for them, especially against the cowgirls, dolts, and titans.

Kinda frustrating for both teams for the last few years. Oh well, there's always next year.

Haven't we played the Browns Raiders and Dolphins at some point in the last 3 or 4 seasons?

Wow you can't catch a break, a Browns fan AND a Texans fan.

The Browns have injury questions this week, but there are no questions about what's at stake.

Coming off a wild Monday night win in Buffalo, the 4-6 Browns have a chance to make a final push at finishing strong and at least making December very interesting in the AFC Playoff race. They'll need to start winning at home to do that, and that starts Sunday against the Texans.

Kickoff is at 1pm. CBS has the broadcast.

The Browns are just 1-4 at home this season and have three of their remaining six games in Cleveland. The 3-7 Texans have lost three straight following a three-game win streak and have not won a road game this season.

Both teams have been scoring points but struggling on defense. The Browns were able to rally back after squandering a late lead last week and win on Phil Dawson's fifth field goal of the game.

The Texans have allowed 28 points or more in eight of their ten games.

They're scoring plenty, though, even after losing quarterback Matt Schaub to injury. Veteran Sage Rosenfels has stepped in and continues to throw to Andre Johnson, who leads the NFL with 955 receiving yards.
