I did not watch the game today. That is the first time EVER that I have not seen a game in person or on TV. When I lived in New York for a few years, I would often be the only guy in a sports bar watching our games decked out in Texans gear. I was mocked at times but still endured the **** being fed us and still was there backing the team even during the nightmare 2-14 season. This year to me is worse than that. At least back then we knew Capers and Casserley would be gone. We don't have that this year and to me the culture of losing and suckiness is and endemic problem in the way too corporate, sterile culture that McNair has created.
Spent some time with family who were in town, went grocery shopping at the new awesome H-E-B on I-10 and Bunker Hill, and spent time with the wife who was happy that I wasn't an emotional wreck after watching another Texans loss.
Thanks McNair, Kubiak, Sage, etc. You turned a die-hard Texans fan who lived and breathed with the Oilers and the abortion of a franchise we have now to one that was extremely happy to have not watched the game today. EPIC FAIL on all of the Texans for doing this to me. Think how much of the fan base has tuned out to them because of the eternal suck of Texans football.
Now, I am still a fan and will play out the string and watch and attend the rest of the games. I boycotted today's game for my own sanity and to realize that there are a lot more pleasurable things to do on a Sunday than to watch the same **** repeat itself every FRIGGING YEAR.
Don't get me wrong, my ideal way to spend a Sunday is to watch the Texans at Reliant or on TV for road games. When they win and have me believe it feels better than virtually anything. Damn them for not giving this town the winner it deserves.
