Who do we bring in?

With Schaub out, who do you think that we will bring in for back-up?

If anything, this gives us an opportunity to bring someone in who - if necessary - can replace Sage as the back-up (assuming Kubes and Co. stick with Schaub - which I suspect they will do) or who could compete for a starting spot next year.

Maybe Chris Simms? It is probably not setting fire works off with anyone on this board...especially UT fans. I think he is a guy with some talent that has experiencing starting in this league. Maybe in a new system, this can be a veteran who can flourish?
 
I say we add Kubiak to the roster...A career back-up backing up a career back-up....

He already knows the plays and should make smarter decisions with the ball...

Yeah - he's still a Titan. Inactive on most if not all game days, but still a Titan.

Plummer's rights are still controlled by the Bucs, so while I'm thinking the suggestion wasn't serious, it's not an option regardless.

I think you're right about Brink. Last year they brought Boyd in under similar circumstances, and he had zero NFL experience beyond preseason.

Brink is in the exact same boat, but with a full off season, pre-season and half a regular season practicing in the system. If you're looking for anyone besides Brink & Boyd with experience in their system, you're pretty much back to Bradlee Van Pelt, and Quinn Gray. I was actually kind of impressed by Boyd in preseason, but if the powers that be liked him, I imagine he'd be on the PS right now.

Alex Brink didn't look half bad in the preseason and neither did the other guy whose name escapes me at the moment. That said, bring back Quinton Porter.
 
Shane Boyd. He did look pretty good... but man, I don't see anyone out there that I think "we need him NOW!"

Crap. Life as a Texans fan. Sigh.
 
Ok, I just got off the phone with Gary and I wasn't going to get involved but, well he's a very persuasive guy and so I'm going to sign with the Texans tomorrow and back up Sage for a few weeks. I told coach that I would do my best but not to expect too much since I'm a little out of shape and packing a few more pounds than I did back in the day.

I told him I could never get enough altitude to run the "Rosencopter". We're just going to have to take that one out of the playbook. I think I'll wear #0
 
Not a lot to work with really unless we want an out of work QB the past few years to try and step in. I really think we overvalued Sage and should've taken that 3rd Minny offered and in the meantime we could've have looked at a decent second option.This staff might face a tough choice this coming off-season at the QB position

Bruce Gradkowski is the only name other then Shane Boyd I can realistically think of that might make a difference. Maybe Tim Rattay?
 
nevermind lets just get Gary Kubiak to suit up i didnt know he was a Quarterback

Shane Boyd had a rocket for an arm...........but his accuracy was meassured in terms of yards. That's essentially why Kubiak has avoided entertaining getting him back over Boyd.

Imagine Brett Favre in this offense.

As much as I hated his drama, I'd have given him a shot with us.

I also would have given Cedric Benson a shot.

It's kinda' funny to see how this team deems certain players "high value" and others are not even considered at all. I mean, you're the Texans for pete's sake: You could live a little, you know?
