LOL!
I kid.
Seriously, can we give some love to Schaub? He KILLED it today. I didn't get to watch the whole game because I was traveling to Katy for dinner with my pops, but 24/28? C'mon now...that's pretty durn good.
Schaub love? No way! Not when we have Rosencopter!
I was greatly out numbered in my section today by Schaub haters. I just don't get it. I think they were watching more for their opportunity to boo then to watch the Texans win. I was making snide comments in the fourth quarter to the effect that we should put Sage in to make it interesting.
Please don't make me eat those words Matt!!!!

You have got to be kidding Vinnie. Folks were calling for Sage?
Wow, really? I don't know what game or QB those Schaub haters are watching, but he's had a couple really solid games. I know he still has to show consistent quality decision-making and he didn't face a tough defense this week, but our offense has really made it easier on the QB this year with a good running game and a ton of weapons at receiver.

I wouldn't say they were yelling "Start Sage", but they were audibly angry at Schaub, especially in the first quarter when they had to punt on that first drive (the drive after JJ ran it in). They all shut up in the second half. I just don't get the contempt for him. I'm sure it's a combo of the injuries last year, the turnovers in the red zone, and what we gave up for him, but I think people need to get over it. He's going to do a lot more good for this team then bad in the long run, and I hope people start coming around to that.
I would ask to see their IDs. I'll betcha it was Paprika and Thyme Rosenfelds calling for Sage to play.
I don't get it either. Seems like some folks just want to manufacture stuff to ***** about and others just want their guy to be the "Chosen one" and to do that they feel the need to drag the other guy down. I guess they see it as some sort of zero sum game rather than a good thing to have two guys that can play.

Ok ... Jen ... leave the herbs in the pantry .
I was saying last game put in SAGE during midway through the 4th Quarter
I was thinking why are we playing our A team its time to put in are B and C team
we need to see what they got during a live game iam glad they gave moats a few carries tho
*ahem* Do we not remember what Sage was able to do in the last 4 minutes of his last game? Let's just say he didn't really "put the game away" if you know what I mean.
Schaub has been consistent the last two games. I like it alot.
If he can keep up this level of play, we could be a dangerous team.
Did you know that Matt Schaub, who set franchise records against the Bengals with his fourth consecutive game of 250 or more passing yards and a passer rating of 144.0, has the best passer rating in the league over the last five weeks? (Schaub was out one of those weeks a loss against the Colts because of an illness.)
The last 5 games he has the best QB rating in the NFL and that is with one game of him not playing due to illness and Sage in.

I agree. Here is the funny part. the whole start Sage group isn't really posting after wins. That is like 3 nice games fro Schaub, including the J'Ville loss so they will wait to he has a bad one and talk about how Sage wouldn't do that...even though Schaub just got us our first 3 game streak. Some people truly just want to complain to prove a point instead of winning.
There's a reason Giants-Steelers was a great back-and-forth game, yet the Steelers-Texans game was an all day laugher.
I wasn't laughing.
Good post.
I think there's a lot of truth when the talking heads in the sports media are saying that Sunday's Giants-Steelers game might be the Super Bowl matchup in 2009. Two teams that have a t-e-a-m effort each and every week. They have guys hurt, and it doesn't matter. They just slug it out.
Matt's headed to the Hall of Fame now.
All he needed was the backup QB to implode, and three teams to visit Reliant who, today, are a combined 3-19...with the Dolphins being the only team with any wins.
Schaub was horrible against the Steelers. Why? Because of pressure. He was not much better against the Titans. Why? Because of pressure.
I don't look at the games in a vacuum. The story on Schaub is that he looks good when he's not pressured, but he crumbles when defenders are in his face. Dolphins-Lions-Bengals are not a good measuring stick of Schaub's abilities. You don't get them scheduled for you every-other-week.
Obviously, the guy played lights-out vs. Cincy. Maybe he can grow out of his inability to avoid the pressure against better defenses--He'll have a shot at it with the rest of the schedule. I just know that whoever the starting QB is, on any team, better know what to do when he's being harassed by the blitz all day. Has Schaub proven that? Can he overcome a great defense? Can he elevate his game and play mistake-free football against teams like the Steelers or Ravens?
If he can, then I'm a converted man. If he can't, then all this trash talk by both sides is not really worth a whole lot (in the end).
When he rattles off another 5 or 6 games like he had Sunday...but against legitimate teams and not against weak defenses...then I'll believe. The mere fact that we salivated the whole month of September in anticipation of those three games, as they approached us, is proof positive that this t-e-a-m is incapable of overcoming legitimate teams. The d-coordinator is the majority of that problem, and problems at QB has played a part, too. There's a reason Giants-Steelers was a great back-and-forth game, yet the Steelers-Texans game was an all day laugher.
Schaub was horrible against the Steelers. ....
I don't look at the games in a vacuum.
Whether teams are horrible or not, he still played well but has more to get done. No one is saying he is great. They are happy with the progress. The fact is, the board is quiet and people disappeared. The minute something goes wrong, they will complain here and come back. Some just like to complain because they seem really negative...all the time.
The only fly in the ointment of this argument is that sometimes players learn from their errors and get better. Does Schaub fall into this category? We will certainly be able to know the answer to that question by this time next week. I think he has improved by leaps and bounds. I think the whole team has.
I totally agree. I think that some have a hard time believing we are getting better because we have had our hopes dashed so many times before. It isn't as if we have had nothing to complain about for 7 years and complaining becomes a habit. It is going to take a few more wins against teams deemed "worthy" in order for people to turn the negativity into just plain having fun. Folks seem to forget things like the Lions almost beating Washington yesterday - I know, almost only counts in horseshoes- but we didn't have to come from behind to beat them. And the Bengals? The Giants only beat them by 3 points and we beat them by more points than any of the other teams they have played so far. This could be a fun ride!
Good points. The Bengals took the Giants to OT and almost came back on the Cowboys. It's not like they are talentless. On the whole though, you have to be happy to play a complete game and outclass a team that you should beat from start to finish.
The Bengals know their season is done. They have low morale. When they played those other games, not so much.
I agree with the fact that Schaub has to limit his turnovers against good defenses, but to expect him to play like he did against the Bengals for 5-6 more games against top D's is unrealistic to say the least. To have a game like that against a defense like the Steelers or Titans, it has to be a team effort. You cant expect a QB to light up a top defense if his O-line isn't blocking, and his recievers aren't catching etc.Matt's headed to the Hall of Fame now.

No QB in the league can. Remember what happened to Peyton Manning in the playoffs a few years back against the Steelers?
Yeah. Or Tom Brady in the SB last year.I agree with the fact that Schaub has to limit his turnovers against good defenses, but to expect him to play like he did against the Bengals for 5-6 more games against top D's is unrealistic to say the least. i'm still on the fence when it comes to schaub, on the road in minn and the ravens D will get me leaning though
...Overall, it would just be nice for people to talk football, have the criticism be constructive or at least something that we have to deal with...the defense for example and not come and go so as only to complain. There is always something we can do to get better. I like complaining about some of it. But I also see the good when it is there.
