LOL!

I thought I was watching Colt McCoy throw it around .... Until I remembered what stadium I was in.

Real good game by Schaub , now if he can only do that on the road next week .....

Schaub love? No way! Not when we have Rosencopter!

I was greatly out numbered in my section today by Schaub haters. I just don't get it. I think they were watching more for their opportunity to boo then to watch the Texans win. I was making snide comments in the fourth quarter to the effect that we should put Sage in to make it interesting.

Please don't make me eat those words Matt!!!!

Wow, really? I don't know what game or QB those Schaub haters are watching, but he's had a couple really solid games. I know he still has to show consistent quality decision-making and he didn't face a tough defense this week, but our offense has really made it easier on the QB this year with a good running game and a ton of weapons at receiver.

You have got to be kidding Vinnie. Folks were calling for Sage?

Yes, Schaub had a great game the last two games, but the two teams we beat are 0 - 15.

I'll really be impressed if it's the same after the next two games.

GREAT GAME MATT!!!!!!!!!:kingkong:

I wouldn't say they were yelling "Start Sage", but they were audibly angry at Schaub, especially in the first quarter when they had to punt on that first drive (the drive after JJ ran it in). They all shut up in the second half. I just don't get the contempt for him. I'm sure it's a combo of the injuries last year, the turnovers in the red zone, and what we gave up for him, but I think people need to get over it. He's going to do a lot more good for this team then bad in the long run, and I hope people start coming around to that.

I don't get it either. Seems like some folks just want to manufacture stuff to ***** about and others just want their guy to be the "Chosen one" and to do that they feel the need to drag the other guy down. I guess they see it as some sort of zero sum game rather than a good thing to have two guys that can play.

I agree. Here is the funny part. the whole start Sage group isn't really posting after wins. That is like 3 nice games fro Schaub, including the J'Ville loss so they will wait to he has a bad one and talk about how Sage wouldn't do that...even though Schaub just got us our first 3 game streak. Some people truly just want to complain to prove a point instead of winning.

*ahem* Do we not remember what Sage was able to do in the last 4 minutes of his last game? Let's just say he didn't really "put the game away" if you know what I mean. :foottap:

well i figured we would give him a chance to redeem himself

we wouldnt do thing crazy with him just run run run then maybe short pass

Schaub has been consistent the last two games. I like it alot.

If he can keep up this level of play, we could be a dangerous team.

The last 5 games he has the best QB rating in the NFL and that is with one game of him not playing due to illness and Sage in.

Did you know that Matt Schaub, who set franchise records against the Bengals with his fourth consecutive game of 250 or more passing yards and a passer rating of 144.0, has the best passer rating in the league over the last five weeks? (Schaub was out one of those weeks — a loss against the Colts — because of an illness.)

He had a great game with the Jags. I didn't like the Miami game all that much. He made some great plays, but I didn't think he was overly consistent.

It's good news though because it's one great game, a little bit of inconsistent game, and two more great games. I really like what I am seeing. Hopefully we can keep this up. Our receivers have ALOT of confidence right now, and it looks like Schaub has started to get some confidence as well.

Oh, he was able to put the game away. Just not in a good way.

Matt's headed to the Hall of Fame now.

All he needed was the backup QB to implode, and three teams to visit Reliant who, today, are a combined 3-19...with the Dolphins being the only team with any wins.

Schaub was horrible against the Steelers. Why? Because of pressure. He was not much better against the Titans. Why? Because of pressure.

I don't look at the games in a vacuum. The story on Schaub is that he looks good when he's not pressured, but he crumbles when defenders are in his face. Dolphins-Lions-Bengals are not a good measuring stick of Schaub's abilities. You don't get them scheduled for you every-other-week.

Obviously, the guy played lights-out vs. Cincy. Maybe he can grow out of his inability to avoid the pressure against better defenses--He'll have a shot at it with the rest of the schedule. I just know that whoever the starting QB is, on any team, better know what to do when he's being harassed by the blitz all day. Has Schaub proven that? Can he overcome a great defense? Can he elevate his game and play mistake-free football against teams like the Steelers or Ravens?

If he can, then I'm a converted man. If he can't, then all this trash talk by both sides is not really worth a whole lot (in the end).

When he rattles off another 5 or 6 games like he had Sunday...but against legitimate teams and not against weak defenses...then I'll believe. The mere fact that we salivated the whole month of September in anticipation of those three games, as they approached us, is proof positive that this t-e-a-m is incapable of overcoming legitimate teams. The d-coordinator is the majority of that problem, and problems at QB has played a part, too. There's a reason Giants-Steelers was a great back-and-forth game, yet the Steelers-Texans game was an all day laugher.

I wasn't laughing.

Good post.

LOL. I wasn't either.

That was the longest game I've watched in 7 years. I was like, "Geez...just run the ball (both of ya!) and get out of Heinz Field already."

I think there's a lot of truth when the talking heads in the sports media are saying that Sunday's Giants-Steelers game might be the Super Bowl matchup in 2009. Two teams that have a t-e-a-m effort each and every week. They have guys hurt, and it doesn't matter. They just slug it out.

I was amazed at watching both defenses.

I hope ours shapes up to be one of the elite.

BTW, did Dick take the week off?

Don't get so defensive GP. I'm not sure what riles you up and makes you so negative? All I did was point out a fact of the board. As I said at the beginning of the season and said again after Rosencopters game was that we had two QBs around the same level that turned the ball over. The last four games, including J'Ville, Schaub has played really well. It's the NFL. Whether teams are horrible or not, he still played well but has more to get done. No one is saying he is great. They are happy with the progress. The fact is, the board is quiet and people disappeared. The minute something goes wrong, they will complain here and come back. Some just like to complain because they seem really negative...all the time. Also, Schaub played well with pressure the beginning of last season. Then he dealt with injuries. He has to get more consistent. No need for people to hang around and wait to chant Sage again.

Overall, it would just be nice for people to talk football, have the criticism be constructive or at least something that we have to deal with...the defense for example and not come and go so as only to complain. There is always something we can do to get better. I like complaining about some of it. But I also see the good when it is there.

Schaub was horrible against the Steelers. ....

The only fly in the ointment of this argument is that sometimes players learn from their errors and get better. Does Schaub fall into this category? We will certainly be able to know the answer to that question by this time next week. I think he has improved by leaps and bounds. I think the whole team has.

I totally agree. I think that some have a hard time believing we are getting better because we have had our hopes dashed so many times before. It isn't as if we have had nothing to complain about for 7 years and complaining becomes a habit. It is going to take a few more wins against teams deemed "worthy" in order for people to turn the negativity into just plain having fun. Folks seem to forget things like the Lions almost beating Washington yesterday - I know, almost only counts in horseshoes- but we didn't have to come from behind to beat them. And the Bengals? The Giants only beat them by 3 points and we beat them by more points than any of the other teams they have played so far. This could be a fun ride!

from the players, coaches on down all say they compliment each other & are interchangeable. not a bad situation, however I would like to see Sage get some PT in garbage time. you know those all important fantasy point totals, must be a conspiracy for all those Schaub owners :poker:

Good points. The Bengals took the Giants to OT and almost came back on the Cowboys. It's not like they are talentless. On the whole though, you have to be happy to play a complete game and outclass a team that you should beat from start to finish.

The Bengals know their season is done. They have low morale. When they played those other games, not so much.

They moved the ball pretty well yesterday. They just quit after the 3rd quarter. So, in that sense, yeah a different team. It also could be the fact that the Texans kept pouring it on instead of going into a shell. Either way, it's an NFL team and if it was so easy to excel and to have the players step up, this wouldn't be the first 3 game streak of the franchises history.

I really want to be a Matt Schaub fan. I'm just gonna hold off and see what he does for the rest of the season. I remember last season he started off like gang fires, then after his injury it went down hill. I'm sure that had a lot to do with his regress. He started off shaky this season, and I was like, oh no here we go again. The past few games though you couldn't ask for more, that's what I'm hoping he will continue to do on a regular basis. As far as being a good guy, he seems to be that. So yes, I give him all the credit in the world he has been money. Lets hope we continue to see that and he turns into this great QB Kubiak is always referring to. :texflag:

I agree with the fact that Schaub has to limit his turnovers against good defenses, but to expect him to play like he did against the Bengals for 5-6 more games against top D's is unrealistic to say the least. To have a game like that against a defense like the Steelers or Titans, it has to be a team effort. You cant expect a QB to light up a top defense if his O-line isn't blocking, and his recievers aren't catching etc.

Guys....give Matt Schaub a chance. He has tremedous upside. Can you even compare him to David Carr? He's young, aggressive and a leader with a rocket arm. GET BEHIND HIM.

No QB in the league can. Remember what happened to Peyton Manning in the playoffs a few years back against the Steelers?

Yeah. Or Tom Brady in the SB last year.

Even I have to defend Jen on this. She was kidding and actually asked for some love to be thrown Schaub's way...

I've been one calling for fair competition between Matt and Sage.

I will say congrats to Matt for stepping it up and having a pretty good run of games. He has looked impressive these last 2 games especially.

i'm still on the fence when it comes to schaub, on the road in minn and the ravens D will get me leaning though

Damn, takes ALOT to get you supportive huu. A win agianst the vikings is understandable and would be REALLY NICE but Raven D is solid and somewhat of a tuff cookie for us to crack with ease. Not saying we can;'t do it but I just hope our schaub haters don't multiple if things dont go the way we planned... Granted we can blam the TEAM and not just him.

I think I have constructive criticism, and Kevin Seifert had a stat that I'll throw out, which supports my assertion that I can't tell much about Schaub after these past three games.

Here's what he said, over on espn.com:

"Six out of seven opposing quarterbacks have established a career-high passer rating against the Lions. 'Nuff said." (Kevin Seifert)

We're so accustomed to sucking, that we take wins out of context...then, we're right back here again: Consoling each other after we get smashed by legitimate teams.

Coming off an 8-8 year has been hard. Is 8-8 Kubiak's ceiling? Is a Richard Smith defense really doing better, or is it an aberration? Is Matt Schaub progressing, or did he benefit from playing bad teams 3-in-a-row?

I have way too many doubts, guys. The heart wants to believe, but the head is processing all the information we've been amassing over the past 3 years. It could very well be that Kubiak needs another full draft in order to put enough talent on the field to see this entire team rise above mediocrity. That's pretty much my ray of sunshine in all this.

I see the "good" when it is there, but how much of the "good" is actually just dependent upon how much "bad" we have played the past three weeks. We hung onto a win vs. the Dolphins, which is the better team out of those three teams. And we smashed two lesser teams. To me, that says we're about as good as the Dolphins.
