Texans Picks

R.1. Thomas Davis- ILB , Georgia
The Texans will try to trade down, but its not very likley. Davis can play SS or LB. With the new emphasis on speed he will play inside for the Texans. He has the tools to be special.

R.2. Adam Terry -OT, Syracuse
The Texans have no depth at tackle. Terry is inconsistant but is big, quick and has the ability to dominate.

R.3a. Eric Shelton- RB, Louisville
A big pounding back that would be a good compliment to D. Davis.

R3b. Ronald Feilds- DT, Miss. St.
6-2, 320 pound run stuffer. Will provide insurance if Payne gets reinjured

R4. Stanford Routt - CB , UH
Good size/speed, but very raw. Should be pretty good eith the coaching he'll get from A. Glenn and John Hoke

R. 5 Richie Incognito C,
Once an elite prospect, a suspension has dropped this talented young man. Expect Capers to find a way to re channel his aggressions.

R6 Adam Bergen, TE Lehigh
Talented enough to go in 3,4 , lack of compitition and an injury history have moved him down

R7. Walter Washington- QB Temple
Interesting prospect. Casserly Takes a late round QB every year to see if he gets lucky

I like all of the picks, but I don't know much about Ronald Fields...Incognito has the talent to end up being a steal in the fifth round...From what I've heard, Routt has terrible coverage instincts and the coaching he received at U of H was less than stellar, to say the least, but Hoke is a very good DB coach and Routt has a lot of potential...

Yeah, I debated on wether or not a 4 should be used on Routt. He has the physical tools to be a decent CB. Hoke is one of the best DB coaches and Glenn is good at taking guys under his wing. I think that with several talented centers ahead of him Incognito will slip into 5, but if not I'd pick up Rob Hunt from N. Dakota.

well we should get another good CB soon so gleen can be his mentor while he is STILL around !

congrats coldsteel, i think this is the best mock i've seen that represents more or less what i feel the texans will do in the draft. i haven't considered us taking a RB in the top of the third, but if we can fill in the DL and grab a corner before the 5th round, i can't argue. *insert british accent* i would not be the least bit dissapointed if our draft plays out similarly to your ingenious work!! kudos to you my fellow texan fan :thumbup

Overall probably the best mock ive seen thus far . The only position of need i dont see addressed by this is WR and im not so sure it is a position of "Need" outside of depth .

Thomas Davis in the first is a solid pick and could be gotten a bit later in the round but as you say it will be tough to find a partner to trade down with .

Adam Terry , Eric Shelton and Ronald Feilds are all good value picks that fill a need .

Stanford Routt has all the physical tools you could ask for but is a raw talent that could turn out to be a solid player given time .

Richie Incognito , something i think the Texans line misses is a personality with a mean streak , this pick might not pay off right away but i think most Texans fans believe Mckenny isnt getting the job done @ center , given a year to develop this could be his replacement .

Adam Bergen I would love the pick especialy this late in the draft but i doubt he lasts this long as he's in the top 10 TE's on almost every draft board .

Walter Washington ..... what would a Texans draft be without CC taking a QB prospect somewhere along the way ? Washington has the physical tools to be a NFL QB , might have gone much higher in next years draft had he stayed in school .

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the feed back. I think that if Bergen is not there, then we will take TE Wade Fletcher from Columbia.
