Early Line: Houston -10 over Detroit

Did you see the Lions QB? He dropped back straight out of bounds, and kept going as if he didn't realize.

I could have done better on that play

I believe Kitna may play this weekend, so we don't have the running to the back of the endzone to look forward to.

No sir. Kitna is headed to the IR:

REPORT: KITNA TO IR
Posted by Mike Florio on October 14, 2008, 9:54 a.m.
With no teams interested in giving the Lions whatever they wanted in exchange for the rights to quarterback Jon Kitna, the Lions reportedly have decided to place the veteran quarterback on injured reserve.

Dave Birkett of the Oakland Press reports that the decision has been made, and that it will be implemented later in the day.

But Kitna could be released from IR, once the team concludes that his back injury is healed. At that point, Kitna could sign with another team (after passing through waivers), or he could file a grievance aimed at recovering the balance of his $2.95 million base salary for 2008.

On Monday, Kitna said that he expects his back to be healed within a couple of weeks.

Well, our defense has been known to make unknown QB's look like Pro-Bowlers. My money would be on the Lions to cover that spread.

Mario should be ripping the QB a new ass this Sunday. At least he better because there's no one else that can.

Well thats good, cause so far in this season when Kitna starts at QB the opposing team always blows out the Lions and score 31+ on them.

Only time that didn't happen was last week, when *hitna didn't start.

After how our team has figured out ways to lose, I am not guaranteeing anything. We did figure out a way to win though so, I'm very optimistic.

I was listening to the Texans post game on the radio as I left the stadium and the host was comparing Schaub to Kitna...I thought it was a kinda interesting comparison as our offenses are similar when it comes to moving the ball between the 20's.

Did they have anything clever to say ?

it was kinda a backhanded compliment since he was pointing out that Kitna can move the ball but isn't exactly what you want in a QB if you really want to make some noise in the league.

Oh my gosh I know! My buddy and I were watching espn? or sunday night football when they were showing like the top 10 highlights. We weren't really paying attention but that caught my eye and busted out laughing. Rewound (rewinded?)... Rewound to play it again... we must have watched it at least 12 times.

I forget which announcer it was, but he said something to the affect, "Well the Lions apparently never taught this guy the correct dimensions of the endzone." LOL- That play made my day.

Anyways back to the game. I hope we trounce Detroit. Defensively, they are no better than any of the teams we've played. Offensively... I could see our Defense struggling a little but I have the fealing we're playing a lot better. I think this is a game where all facets of our team come together. I predict after this game we're feeling really good about our team and the direction we're headed. Of course I'm usually always wrong with predictions so shouldn't be saying anything!

The way I see it is this team has to come together this week. By together I mean correct the mistakes and play a solid game of football. My reason is because it really doesn't get any easier for us now. Even with a win we will have to do something we haven't done before and that is win a 3rd in a rowe. Typically we lose that 3rd game even if the team is winless or whatever.

Then after that we have to play 3 out of 4 on the road and those team are not easy.

So if the Texans want to get some momentum they need to get well against Detroit and the only way you get well is by playing a very good solid game and not taking these guys lightly.

Limiting turnovers is certainly something that has to be cleaned up. It's interesting, however, how clean this team is playing in terms of penalties. I can't recall a team ever playing this clean. It's interesting that the team is on opposite ends of those two measurements: last in TO margin but first in fewest penalties.

I just checked this morning and it's down to Texans -8.5. If it keeps trending that way then that might be worth looking at!

I think the Texans win this game by atleast two touchdowns...

Lions quit early as Texans punch them in the mouth...

I think the Texans will win this game handily but the Lions will get garbage time points to make it look not quite as bad as it actually was.

The game i'm worried about however is the Bengals game, especially if they dont win on Sunday and if Carson Palmer is back for our game. They've played some teams pretty tough this season and seem to put up a fight when they're counted out. If people think they're a threat to win they usually roll over but the Bengals are the team to be worried about. Nobody wants to be the team to hand these last two teams their first W and the Texans can potentially be both of their firsts.

We have to be on our A game ladies and gents. These next 2 weeks are going to be a real test for the coaches to make sure they have their young team ready to play even though they're pairing up with a couple of gooses.

This game kind of reminds me of Atlanta last season. We had all the confidence in the world and got our asses kicked. Lets hope there's not a repeat of that performance.

Biggest difference however was we were riddled with injuries in that game. This is the most healthy we've been in franchise history at this point of the season.

Thats a big suprise to me considering they trades Roy Williams yesterday. If I were a betting man I would jump on that. Alas I am not

I hope they don't fall into that trap! This team, despite the turnovers and 2 losses, has been playing well the last 3 weeks. I hope they don't take anyone for granted. They need to play hard from start to finish, and if they do get a big lead (like the Colts game), don't let up! I hope they've learned their lessons from the Colts game and the Falcons game last year.

This really does have all the makings of a land mine game. If we don't watch our step we'll get blown up.

The Detroit Lions might be the 2005 Houston Texans:

1. Bad QB play.
2. Bad line play.
3. A really good receiver who isn't going to get the ball.
4. Doesn't really use a tight end.
5. Horrible defense.
6. GM situation that is for most purposes up in the air.
7. Special teams that plays better than the rest of the team.
8. Overall chaos.

The 2005 Texans won 2 games, and lost a number of close ones, and got blown out of the water more than a few times.

Agreed but we all know what happens when there are sleepers.
Cleveland v Giants 10-13-08
Rams get a win ?
Theres more I just cant think of them.
We need to play and play big and win big!

man, sucks to be a lions fan. the saddest franchise in the NFL. at least we've got some positives to be let down about. i don't know how they can even get let down over there. seems like they would just kind of shrug every time something bad happens and say "ooh neto!" evertime something good happens.

I firmly plan on starting Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson in fantasy next week!!

Yeah, I suppose Bodden played well...but c'mon Berrian is no Andre Johnson and while Steve Slaton is no Adrian Peterson, Peterson dropped a 111 yards on us despite fumbling twice. 2ndly, Houston for the most part, despite losing up until this week, has played a tremendously difficult schedule...Pitt, Tennesse, Jacksonville, Indy (who they almost beat), and upstart Miami.

Bottom line I'd take the Houston offensive skill players over our players and or the Minny crew anyday!

Thanks Lions Fan!

On the subject of large spreads how about USC (-41.5) @ Washington State
