Fun Announcement-Join me for Nickstravaganza for some Texans talk

I know we often complain about the lack of serious Texans talk on the local airwaves. I've tried my best as an individual to help encourage thoughtful talk (and once in a while, pull out a can of whoop-a).

In any event, this is my official Texans Talk announcement that I will be doing a regular hour long segment about the Houston Texans every Friday during the season from 3:00-4:00 pm with 1560 The Games' Sean and John afternoon show. They are really good guys and are good to talk Texans with--they are looking to make this a show where we talk about more than just the superficial stuff.

And it is going to be held at a remote, at Nick's Place at Rockyridge and Westheimer (on the south side between Gessner and Fondren).

So, you can either join us in person and drink and eat yummy stuff. Or you can listen in online or on the radio (1560 am, duh) and if you have a question that you think would be an interesting topic, you can either call in at 713-439-1560 or email the show.

The first time I ever was a guest on a sports talk radio show I won as a contest thingy, the only person I told was my husband. I didn't want any of my friends to hear. It was really kind of embarrassing and scary. But ended up being a lot of fun. And over time, I've just learned to see experiences like this as something fun that if I am able to do it, why the heck not?

Anyway, it is always fun to talk football going into the weekends, and I hope you can join us either in person or over the airwaves. Represent.

An hour per week, huh? I'm glad I don't have to come up with the material.

I don't think I could do a radio talk show. You might be a little more outgoing than me (to say the least).

Good luck and have fun with it.

Ha. I could easily talk for more than an hour, though it would be nice if some nicer stuff was going on because that is always more fun.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the blog stuff a little because there is a lot I want to say, and it takes too long to type it all out. So the radio is nice because you can talk about stuff a little more. Although, even then, with commericials and stuff, you still have to talk a little bit more in sound bites than drunk rambling tailgate discourse.

There is a market niche you could shoot for. Listeners with two things:

1) Brains
2) Attention Spans

I don't listen to a lot of talk radio because I get tired of hosts more impressed with their own schtick than current topics. I would also like to hear more in depth discussion than hopping from topic to topic.

Not that I'm making any suggestions.

I'm there, guaranteed! I've supported 1560 since they fired it up and I could barely hear them a year ago. Those guys are good people, and I will always go out of my way to help/hire local guys over corporate piles of dung every time I can. Look forward to meeting you in person, if I can get there early enough.

Anybody up to leave work early and get a bite to eat this Friday?

They were promoting it the other day by saying that the economy is in the crapper and your 401K is crushed, so you might as well not kill yourself at work because we are all screwed. So come out to Nick's Place for Nickstravaganza.

Interesting promotion.

Awesome TC. I remember you being on with Craig Robert's last year and he did not let you talk as much as I was hoping for. Now you got your own slot, Awesome .... I will be listening to you here in Austin.

So Dick Justice you do not know who Stephanie is .... well she is the one with a radio show and you don't LMAO. :user:

I tried to rep ya but said try later.

I am adding this to my calendar in Outlook right now so I remember to tune in on Friday. I know you will do a great job representing us diehard fans. I will try to think of a question or two to email in between now and then.

*edit - I put the appointment on a weekly reoccurence all the way through the post season just in case. :texflag:

Feel free to show off a certain magnet to the peeps if you happen to get the urge....:shades:

Craig Roberts is H-Town's worst sports "personality." My Min-Pin knows more than he does.

Dick Justice doesn't have a show...lol He comes on twice a week now. His decision.

Alrighty. I'm off. I promise not to say "Maverick" or "Youbetcha" but I might say "heck."

Personally, I am just rooting for not gooning out. :)

You did fine. Those dudes are kinda dorky though. Either that or intimidated.

I remember why I don't listen to the afternoon show too much. I have more of a sophmoric (Lance & John) sense of humor. Sean is more like an 8th grade clown.

Hey, just a reminder. I will be on from 3 to 4 again today. :fans:

I want to thank those of you who sent them supportive emails about my time on the show. I really appreciate it.

Hello all, I just wanted to let everyone know I'll be tailgating in the maroon lot this Sunday all are welcome to come out. There will be plenty of beer and bbq. Look for black Chevy Avalance with big chrome rims.

Hey, just want to let you know that I will be on at 3:00.

Hope you listen in. Thanks to everyone who has been sending in emails. They read them during the breaks.

I sent one last week about Cornheiser and mentioning Tom Brady as a drinking game except sub Jaws and the words "National Football League"....same effect.

I will try to listen but I have a conference call at 3PM, I will see how much I can sneak in by keeping them on mute.

Great job Steph! You need to go out strong, not on a downer note like comparing our run defense to the Lions D. :bat:

:jk:

Anyway, I know someone who will be thanking you Sunday for your blog. ;)

Haha.

So I guess you heard me go off on the Bud Adams rant, huh? They were baiting me, and well, it was fun to take the bait.

Hey TC will there be any segments in the offseason or is that a wrap until further notice?

Sorry I just saw this.

We might do some things here and there for the draft and maybe during OTAs and training camp.

It was a lot of fun. And now my kids like Nick's Place pizza the best after I would bring it home for whoever was watching my kids for an hour.

Evil woman.........You will shoot poison darts with your glances at those deserving, and speak to all without forked tongue:pirate:
