If we beat the Colts next week...

Then that would put us right on track with most of the forum's projection that "we need to win 2 of the first 5 to have a shot at the playoffs".

Most people projected the Ravens as a win, we didn't get to play that game. That leaves us with 4 games where we had to pull something out of our asses to win...kinda like how the Jags beat us today :(

We beat the Colts, we're on track its that simple. We have a 4 game home stretch and the Colts are the toughest game. But they dont have Bob Sanders. We beat the Colts we should expect to reel off 4 in a row.

The sky is not yet falling fellow Texans fans!!!:jogger:

HAHAHAHAHAHA man who is the Joker OH, it is the Hide the salami guru.

Dude good luck

We will not beat Peyton Manning with the holes in this defense, Right Jaques

we got to win are divison games plain and simple

everything else is just day by day

we are going to have strong teams tho competing us for the 2 wildcard spots

New england has a +2 lead on us we never have beat them

Balty has a a +2 lead on us we never have beat them

the jets have a +2 lead on us

Jags have a +2 lead

if the playoffs whe 2 weeks i would have to give it to the AFC east yes

and denver has a +3 lead -which i think SD will take the divison

then u got INdy which is a player with a +1 lead

THats 7 Teams !!!!!!!!! things are not looking good

Jets and pats to prob take some wildcard spots that hole divison has gotten better

Honestly, I think we are fortunate that the Ravens game was pushed. I have the feeling that, at that time, they would have thumped us. Perhaps our offense is getting on track now...

Right now, our only focus should be on Indy and getting a freaking win.

So do we have a shot at beating the Colts in anybody's mind? I mean our running game should be able to do better against the Colts because they don't really have any big uglies.

But our secondary, oh my :(

IMO, yes we have a real shot at beating them. It's a home game and first of the season so we should be up for it. The key as I see it is to be physical with them. Knock ol Pay-me-a-ton around and bump the WRs hard and often. That has proven historically to be effective. If we play them physically I think we can beat them. If we try to out finesse them, they will eat our lunch.

It's just that their passing game vs our secondary favors the Colts so much. Ugh. I think that we can shut Addai down, but holy god we're so atrocious against the pass that they might not have to run.

Our offense has to be even better next Sunday or we are going to be on the wrong end of a shoot out.

Im a little confused. you have this team with +1 that team with +2 and you say 7 teams are ahead of us. The last time I looked, the only team that you can say we are ahead of is Cincy and that is because they have played 1 more game. Given each division has 1 winner out of the pool, there are 10 teams ahead of us.

I agree. But IMO, now we have to win 3 of these next 4. The only good thing about being 0-2 in the division, is that both were road games. Now if we lose this Sunday, we'll be 0-4 and 0-3 in the division. At thta point, I'd say the season is a wash. This Sunday is a must win, IMO.

As per the title of this thread...

If we beat the Dolts next week ... It will be a miracle with this defense. :d:

If any of the "experts" have anything to say about this, they would say it's mathematically impossible for an 0-3 team to make the playoffs since practically no one does it.

Thank goodness that the experts don't know %$#@

You've got that right. Compound that with the fact we couldn't pressure DC if he was lined up behind center and you've got a giant chance to lay a big fat egg in this one. No matter though, I will be there screaming for the defense until I puke this Sunday anyway. No way in hell I'm missing our home opener. :kingkong:

Playing physical, bumping WRs doesn't really describe the coverage scheme the Texans run.

10yd cushions, matador tackles and comical "which way did he go?" expressions are more the bread and butter of what the Texans defense offer.

I think Manning is going to carve up our even more depleted secondary and to win we are going to have to have Slaton run for 100+ yards to keep him off the field. That is the only way I see us winning the game.

Its really sad when one starts to miss Pbuc back there, he could not tackle if his life depended on it, but at least he made some plays now and then.

lawl.

Our defense will not be able to stop Peyton Manning through the air. Hell, the way the D plays now...I'm not entirely sure that we could stop Peyton Manning on the ground.

For the sake of your sanity, don't place all hope for this season on this next game...as it's likely to be a fairly ugly outing.

If we lose we're 0-4 & 0-3 in the division. It'll take 10 wins to make the playoffs in the AFC, and IMO there's no way we'll win 10 of 12 from that point. We have no bye week, and 3 of the 10 games would be against our division. Going to 0-4 this weekend puts us in a hole that we can't get out of as far as playoffs are concerned.

Granted 0-4 is a tough hole. First of all, if you're 0-4 you're probably not good. However, these are some fairly extraordinary circumstances. Other than the road game in Indy and perhaps the road game in GB, I like our chances in every other game... so, even at 0-4, I'm not morbid. However, 1-3 sure sounds a lot better- tied with Indy in the division. Please God?!

There are a couple of things in your post that I think are wrong.

First off, it will NOT take 10 wins to make the playoffs in the AFC. The past 5 years or so, the AFC has dominated the NFC; this year, the AFC is not that dominant. Two years ago, the Chiefs made it in at 9-7 and 6 years ago, both wildcards from the AFC were 9-7. An 8-8 team could make it into the playoffs this year. Last year, we finished 8-8 but we were still in the playoff talk in December.

If we go 0-4, we can still make it in but obviously, it's going to be very, very hard. Hell, it's going to be hard to make it to the playoffs from 0-3.

But, I've said it before, I think the Colts are vulnerable right now. We can win this game. It won't be easy but we can do it.
