After Further Review

After going over game tape and rewinding and slow motion it appeared to me that the red flag could have played a crucial role in the outcome of this game. That being said more accuracy on the QB's shoulders and better coaching decisions would have given us a better chance to win. Oh and Andre Johnson needed to put the stick of butter down and grabbed the pine tar.

I know Gary Kubiak is the leader of this team and he says Matt is our Starter. I know Matt got hit a lot and played as hard as he could. I know the Johnson drops are a fluke.

Matt Schaub was a back up QB when we picked him up, Is he not still a back up in a starters role. Everybody is quick to say Sage is a career Backup, How is he so much different than Matt. I am not the Coach and I am leaving the coaching to the Staff. But please put the best players on the feild to win the game.

Sage was a nightmare waiting to Happen in Tennessee. The main topic on Tennessee Radio was what if Sage comes in. Do we not have scouts listening to stuff like that so we realize we might have a victory chip and play it.

My coaching suggestions
Andre carries a ball with him every day this week
Coach gets better advice some how
Matt throws 500 passes in practice or we try Sage, the only QB we have with a winning record.

It is Hard to point the finger any direction except that we once again were not prepared for this game. I hope we get back to the drawing board quickly cause Jacksonville is right around the corner

Can't argue with any of that, except I still point the finger at a lack of brute strength on the inside (both sides of ball). That no red flag play was a killer. Schaub is too thin, frail, and slow for the ZBS, which I'm not real fond of right now anyway.

We don't have a snowballs chance in Brownsville of beating the Jags especially if we continue playing as we have played the last two games.

First and foremost, Schaub needs to sit down and let Sage give it a try - keeping Matt in the game was a dumb decision given his performance and Sage's history with the Titans.

This was a winnable game - we continued to go for 4th and whatever when it obviously wasn't working. We passed on 3rd and 1 but ran on 4th and 3 - go figure. At least they should have known that Brown would get some points on the board and given us some momentum. We can't score from the red zone to save our lives and someone needs to figure out why and fix it.

We threw a red flag when we shouldn't and didn't when we should - go figure. Or just stop throwing them altogether - we never get the call overturned and all it does is bring down the team.

The defense finally woke up in the second half but the Titans weren't doing anything spectacular either - just keeping the lead.

A :flowers:to ya' for watchin' that game again - I don't even like to think about it.

After further thought and review - I think this team needs a Plan B fast. Perhaps a total shake up even. Something to light a fire under these guys cuz right now after three years of totally new players - can we really be this bad - talent wise?

lol a total shakeup after two losses to good teams? This isn't Madden people, lets stop assuming that chemistry and time are irrelevant. You can't switch schemes completely in the 2nd week of the season. It just doesn't work like that in real life

Some of it is how good our first 2 opponents are, especially in their own houses. We are not a top 10 team, and they both are this year. Throw in crowd noise, swayed refs (as always), stupid refs (as always), and 3-4 Ds against ZBS and you've got problems.

There are hundreds of excuses. Hurricane Ike, etc

But the fact is that both of those teams are better than us right now. A lot can happen in the span of 17 weeks, though.

We are in the middle of transitioning on offense. I have no excuse for the defense. But to assume changing everything in the middle of the season would be beneficial is too short sighted

What history?

Playing slightly better in a losing effort is still a losing effort.

Starting/playing Sage in the next couple of weeks might not be a bad idea, but saying that Sage should have started last Sunday due to his "history" against the Titans is a bit much. Neither QB has best the Titans.

True, changing right now is not a realistic option, except for the QB. I don't know what would actually make us more successful with Sage, but I bet we would be. One thought is Schaub is too not quick, for lack of a better phrase. He can't excelerate fast enough or change direction fast enough. We need a mobile QB, and Sage is just a little quicker, though probably not as fast. Schaub is also too thin and you can just tell that he gets hit and his brain goes south for the next 5 minutes of play. His facial expressions are almost comical. He can't take the hits, get right back up, and play at full potential. If he gets hit, he will play like a retard for the next five minutes. Can't say I'd do any better, but that's not what we need.

Well for one, the team really believes in Sage. They know what he's capable of. They've had success with him, and they know he is not going to quit.

Mechanics wise, Sage has a quicker release it seems like. Althouth Schaub may be more accurate, it is based on not being hurried. Sage, just seems to get the ball out faster.

Also, Sage runs the play action tons better. How many times, if you're watching at home, do you see the camera man get faked by Sage's play action. That's right...almost everytime. He sells it better and positive things happen with that.

I have been a proponent of sticking with Schaub, but I am starting to re-think this position after this week. I don't think that the last two losses are all on Matt. I think Matt has made some bad decisions, but he has had some bad luck and the line and the receiving corps haven't done all they can to help him succeed.

Sage may not be any faster, stronger or even make decisions a greater % of the time, but sometimes a team just needs a change. I think he has taken some hits and has lost some confidence against two of the best defenses we will see all season. I think we put Sage in to shake off some of the funk and require the offense to re-focus.
