Last Chance Roster Prediction Thread

Kubiak just said they'll probably keep 9 DL and 10 DB or visa versa.

He also mentions that it is a concern that both Thompson and Adibi have been hurt all preseason and they are nonexistent. So Coley and Moffitt who played a ton get new life.

I live in Austin where Vince Young once lived so we don't get to watch the Texans final preseason game. All I have to go on is an online radio broadcast...That having been said... where are we? Last chance roster prediciton thread:

2QB: Schaub, Rosenfels, (Boyd is lost in the numbers game)
4RB: Green, Slayton, Taylor, Walker (Brown out, Walker in)
1FB: Leach
4TE: Daniels, Dreesen, Bruener, Krause isn't getting the playing time but 4TE's make the 53)
5WR: Johnson, Walter, Davis, Anderson, Jones (best of luck Harry)
9OL: Brown, Pitts, Meyers, Brisiel, Winston, Butler, White, Frye, for no reason at all tonight I think Studdard makes it and I'm disappointed.

1K: Brown
1P: Turk
1LS: Pittman

9DL: Williams, Okoye, Johnson, Weaver, Cochran, Okam, Kalu, Robinson, Maddox or Zgonina (until they figure out how to help Williams we keep all these guys)
6LB: Diles, Ryans, Greenwood, Thompson, Bently, Adibi (Colvin couln't be more cut.) Somehow they keep Thompson on pure theoretical potential. Moffitt and Coley miss out, too little too late.
5CB: Bennett, Reeves, Faggins (moved up on depth after tonight) Fletcher, Molden
5S: Demps, Brown, Earl, Ferguson, Harrison (Harry's injury bumps Harrison up as best ST guy, he makes the squad at the expense of Boyd at #3 QB

PUP: Robinson
IR: Weary, Williams, Jackson
PS: Barber, Nading, Coley, Boyd & Moffitt & Simmons

Not bad...

My head is spinning with all kinds of scenarios and I'm afraid some of the guys I really wanted on the squad aren't going to make it:

Frye
Harrison
Barber
Thompson
Coley

I think Colvin makes it based on a few early QB pressures and our desperate need for a speed rusher- He definitely makes the team if they cut Thompson- one of those two must make the team.

A few guys I really want to be cut:

Studdard
Weaver
Zgoniga
Bruener
D. Wynn

2QB: Schaub, Rosenfels
4RB: Green, Brown, Slaton, Walker
2FB: Leach, Taylor
3TE: Daniels, Dreesen, Bruener
5WR: Johnson, Walter, Davis, Anderson, Jones
10OL: Brown, Pitts, Meyers, Brisiel, Winston, Butler, White, Frye, Studdard, Salaam

That's a great list overall Barrett, I don't really disagree with too much, if any!

I'd like to see Alex Brink make the practice squad and hopefully grow into our backup once Sage leaves. I've been impressed with Brink.

I wouldn't change anything from your linebackers, cornerbacks, or safeties. I'd choose Maddox over Zgonina... but I really want Bulman to make the team too. That'd be 10 DL and 10 CB/S (too much?)

I like your offense too. Are you that confident we keep Krause as a 4th TE?? On the OL, I think our starting 5 and White and Butler are locks. I'd like to keep Salaam as insurance too but he could end up getting lost. Frye and Studdard need to be on the team or practice squad... although I wouldn't be confident at all if they actually got significant playing time, if you know what i mean.

Dexter Wynn did pretty well tonight but there's no way he jumps ahead any of the 5 cb's you've got down.

I like your list too but I don't see Walker getting much PT as a FB.
I'd replace Colvin w/ Bulman.
You've got 6 LB's.

I fixed it, meant Taylor. I have not seen Colvin this year, but I would imagine he will be putting his hand down on 3rd downs based on his specialty. I don't see him getting a consistent pass rush as a LB in a 4-3.

I'm thinking that he meant Taylor as the backup fullback since I'm pretty sure he's not using two of the 53 roster spots for Darius Walker.

I didn't even notice that. While our random mix of RB/FB's isn't that exciting... I kind of like them for some reason.

I hadn't really noticed Colvin at all during the preseason until tonight. I am really hoping he is that 3rd down pass rusher, but I wasn't impressed with him in the least bit. I saw him make less than a handful of plays tonight and he was in there like the whole game (against scrubs). Glad Kubiak/Smith know what they're doing and I don't have to make these cuts.

QB (2) - Schaub, Rosenfels
RB (4) - Green, Taylor, Slaton, Walker
FB (1) - Leach
TE (3) - Daniels, Dreessen, Bruener
WR (5) - Johnson, Walter, Davis, Anderson, Jones
OL (10) - Brown, Pitts, Myers, Briesel, Winson, Salaam, Butler, Frye, Studdard, White

K (1) - Brown
P (1) - Turk
LS (1) - Pittman

DL (9) - Williams, Okoye, Johnson, Weaver, Cochrane, Okam, Maddux, Kalu, Bulman
LB (7) - Ryans, Greenwood, Diles, Adibi, Bentley, Thompson, Colvin
CB (5) - Bennett, Reeves, Faggins, Fletcher, Molden
S (4) - Brown, Demps, Earl, Ferguson

I think they carry an extra lineman (Frye) to start the season because right now both backup tackles are hurt. I don't know how bad Butler's injury is, but they can't go into Pittsburgh with none. Once they are healthy I think Frye will be out and they'll look to add depth somewhere else.

I listed Colvin at LB for the same reason as above. Thompson and Adibi have been hurt and they aren't going to want to have just 4 healthy LBs for Pittsburgh. I don't think Colvin did enough to make this squad, but his ability to play OLB could help him.

Safety was by far the toughest spot to make cuts. I like Ferguson so this might be a wishful thinking pick. I think they look to add another safety once they have a roster opening.

I have to say I don't think Darius Walker makes the team, I reckon we are going to go with Green, Brown, Taylor and Slaton in the backfield.

I'll wait until Sunday to make my predictions. LOL

However, I do think they are going to keep 3 QBs on the active roster.

Think you meant Leach at FB. Cook has already been released.

Obviously they'll keep Faggins after last night performance and effort. He wants to make the team, Petey was intense last night, and they shore do need some help from anybody at corner. Please get well soon D-Rob !
I hope they keep Bulman, he made a couple of real steller plays last night and has had a strong TC this year. If we release him this year, I dunno if we see him here again ? He'll be picked up by another team and has what it takes to develope into a player IMO.
Thing is Kubiak and Smith are like any other NFL executives who play some politics to cover their own mistakes and they have fired mostly blanks in FA this year. Colvin is a disappointment and Reeves is an even bigger one. Jordan Black was a FA flop last year, and 2 Jordan Blacks this year is even more disappointing. As well as the Smith & Kubiak team have done in the college Draft, they've done just about that poorly in some of their FA decisions.
And Coach, please let Studdard go.

Wonder if Robinson #66 made the team tonight. He made alot of plays.

No doubt in my mind. I've had him on my roster prediction since the second preseason game. He can move for a guy his size.

And, I'd be shocked if Bulman doesn't make the team.

I can dig this roster. I think I can agree with Coley due to Adibi and Thompson missing most of preseason.

I'd be willing to keep Thompson on the squad and PUP Adibi. We know Thompson can contribute in the NFL.

Studdard is very, very much on the bubble

Harrison has quietly become a pretty darn good STer.

Good roster. Go with it coach. :winky:

If Barber doesn't make it then I think Earl takes his spot. Barber would then likely be on the PS.

Adibi can't be placed on the reserve PUP since he isn't on the active PUP.

 IR him then. Stash him away to keep him away from other teams and get him bulked up for next season. I expect him to replace Greenwood next season.

Eh, maybe I'm just full of poo.
