I Would Trade ........

Rookie
Our ENTIRE backfield (yes all QB's and RB's) to the Iggles for Kolb and Tony Hunt. I know some of you will like this..... :)

I think you have a fine future as an NFL Network talent analyst once the determine that Charley Casserley is too competent for the job.

In my best Jim Rome voice:

If by "some of you", you mean "barely anyone"... then I completely agree.

I might be convinced to trade our backfield for Kolb and Westbrook ..... OK, no.

I like Kolb, and our backfield is crap, but I think Schaub will be good.

See above.
That was not at you sorry if it came off like that but IMO wanting to trade away the whole backfield before they have a chance to blend together is just like saying that it is crap and giving them no credit.

I should clarify - when I say backfield, I'm referring to our running backs. As a group, they are crap. The only guy I have any optimism for is Slaton. I guess we'll just wait and see. I would hate to be right.

If one or more of our Rb's have some great flashy runs against the Saints most of this predictable "the sky is falling" should die down, and people will regain their wits about them, instead of rambling on about trading this guy or that guy. It really gets old and tired, and until we get a true shot at what they can do all this speculation is one big old yawn fest.

Agree about the RBs sorry I thought you all were talking about the other kind of backfield.

More Jim Rome:

"I mean the that would be just stupid. (long pause...) Why would someone want a trade like that. (long pause) (paper crumble). Don't call my show clones with some horrible trade. A trade that just doesn't make any sense. (long pause) Alright next up we have..."

I was talking about the wrong backfield. Sorry. Please forgive me I feel so bad.

I'd trade all our RB's (cept maybe Slaton) for a cold beer at the next Texans game ....

Did not take time to read all responses but I think Walker will prove to be pretty good as will Slaton. I am hopeful Taylor will develop although he has shown be nothing to make this season's team. If he can play FB, he should make team. Brown needs to play like a man on fire against Saints and then he can coast until season. I am not very optimistic about him or Green.

We've never had a QB who can read the field as smoothly as Kolb does and throw as accurately as he does and we've never had a RB who can run like Tony Hunt did last night.

:fans:

OK ... I'll bet Sage and Schaub can read a field better than a 2nd year QB .

I don't think so. Have you seen Kolb play? Last night his OL was terrible and he still picked apart a pretty good Carolina defense. And he's only going to get better.

And ...... I'll do the Richard Smith for Jim Johnson deal, too.

I love it when pre-season becomes law of the land. If you can do it against second stringers for 1 game you apparently can do it against anyone!!

He did have an ok game last weekend and after the game that is what some folks on this board were saying.

He did an OK job running. If IIRC he was the Cards QB in preseason and looked Horrid when trying to throw the ball.

Call me old fashioned but I believe a QB should be able to throw.

Well ok maybe so but don't just tell me this tell some other people on this board as well.

I thought Boyd looked rather sharp for us last week.
He hit Carter(?) dead between the numbers and he (Carter) flat dropped the ball. He wasn't throwing behind guys or into traffic like Sage was. I dunno whut was wrong with Sage last week.... ...off night I guess...

And I like a QB, with quick feet, that can get a few yds from time to time on the run. However, I do wholeheartedly agree, a QB's primary weapon should be his brain, followed very closely by his arm.

I"m looking forward to seeing Brink play this weekend.

Brink or Boyd may be our backup QB in 09-10

It needs a little more work but to say it's crap is just dumb IMO.

It's not quite crap. It's not too much better than crap though. This season, in my opinion is make or break for Schaub; if his performance isn't improved than I would be comfortable looking into other options. We can't make the mistake of hanging onto a bad QB for too long (like we did with Carr). As far as RBs go, Leach is solid and both Slaton and Walker have third down back potential. Aside from that, I open to getting rid of it all.

I agree. I've said before that I was talking about the backfield on the D side of the football.

without injuries, as you well know, Schaub was on pace to be one of the top 6 NFL qb's as far as statistics go.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a make or break season for him at all. I too wish to see him play all 16 (or more) games, and pass for multiple td's and yardage, but some things are out of his control, and I think it's a season premature to label this a make or break deal. Next year perhaps, if he regresses this year, but I'm an optimist and I think I've seen enough to have him qb our team for awhile.
