Thanks for your support!

Who should we take with our 1st 3rd Rounder?

Charles Godfrey!!

Actually, I don't know anything about the guy except that he has a Texans tattoo on his hand.

Whoever they take I'm going to support though.

I think we go CB and RB in round 3. Although I could definately see us taking that DE Brian Robinson to bang that pass rusher hole then hit whichever CB/RB that we didn't take in 3 in round 4.

I hate to say this. But I have to agree with Mike Mayock and Jerry Jones. You can't have enough CBs. We need a crew. Especially going against Payton. Seems like we've always been thin at CB.

With the Texan's two picks in the third round, they should take a CB and a DE. They can take a RB in round 6 or 7, or even pick up an undrafted free agent after the draft, just like they did with Chris Taylor a couple years ago.

I'm praying Ray Rice falls to us, but I doubt it. We need a DB like Molden, Godfrey, DeCoud, Morgan, etc. Def. see a DB and either a pass rushing DE, RB or OLB.

Im hoping we find another starting CB in the 3rd or 4th. We should eventually trade all our picks for 4th rounders, because we find gold there every year.

Jermoe Mathis - Pro bowler
Owen Daniels - Starting TE
Fred Bennett - Starting CB
Domanick Davis - Great until injury

Who will it be this year?

Does anyone know anything about Kevin Smith RB/South Florida. He is still available.

One of the most prolific running backs in college football history and did it in only 3 seasons. He has quick hips and is shifty in the open field. He doesn't have top end speed, but he is fast enough. I like him a lot with Rice gone. I have come concerns about potential durability with his previous work-load but at this juncture, it appears to be a moot issue.

I realized early in the game (today) Forte & Rice would be gone by the 3rd. really liked both of them, wished the Texans had held out for a 2nd instead of a 3rd & 6th but just spilled milk now. Anyways had to re shuffle my RB board but the Texans still need that change of pace RB who has speed, some explosiveness & is a playmaker. I would love to get Jamaal Charles but realisticlly don't think he'll last until the Texans pick. makes me think cb first 3rd rd. pick then capitalize with the pick from the trade with Baltimore to get Slayton, he will fit that role in the RB rotation.

So what are our remaining picks overall?

I know we have

2 - 3rd rounders
4th round
5th round
2 - 6th rounders
7th round

Anyone know the overall numbers on those off the top of your head?

Yeah he went near the end of the 2nd. I didn't look to see which guys had been drafted. Just kind of posted it as a reference for tomorrow. Maybe Z will come out with an updated list later on.

Gone.

1 26 (26) Duane Brown OT Virginia Tech (from Jaguars via Ravens)
3 16 (79)
3 26 (89) (from Jaguars via Ravens)4 19 (118)
5 16 (151)
6 7 (173) (from Ravens)
7 16 (223)

When I look at this, I really like what Rick Smith did with our #1. Not only did he basically get a rookie LT and a starting center by obtaining another 6th, but he also took away one of our division rivals picks.

They can take a RB in round 6 or 7, or even pick up an undrafted free agent after the draft, just like they did with Chris Taylor a couple years ago.

And get another Wali Lundy? No thanks.

Besides, the Texans track record at drafting RBs in the late rounds (or in any round so far), or signing UDFAs isn't good. The "used up and beat up" FA route isn't working either. They need a new approach.

REGGIE SMITH PLEASE i cant believe he is still there. godfrey is really good as well
also orlando scandrick is a possibility and tyvon branch. two burners at corner.
robinson and ellis are good options at DE if we want a pass rusher
kevin smith would be amazing i think he would be great for us
harry douglas in the 5th or 6th would be MONEY in my opinion guy has tons of talent and as a projected first jsut a couple of months ago.

The only running back out there with 3rd round talent is Kevin Smith out of UCF. I watched a few UCF games this year and this guy is the real deal. I doubt he’ll be available at 79.

Available cornerbacks are:
Justin King - Penn St.
Reggie Smith - Oklahoma
Tyvon Branch - Uconn
Charles Godfrey - Iowa

I know Reggie Smith can play but other then that I don’t know much about these guys.

There are several good outside linebackers available including Dan Connor from Penn State and Erin Henderson from Maryland.

Also, don’t be suprised if we take a center with the 89th pick of even the 4th round pick. There are a couple of good centers projected for the 3rd round.

The only safety I like on the board right now is Thomas McCload. All the rest appear to better suited for SS and we have plenty of those.

technically the Ravens did.

Same here, although I was reminded that Godfrey has a Texans' tatoo on his hand. That makes me want to somehow end up with him!

There's also Adibi, and a few other OLBs. I think OLB might be a position where there's good value in the 3rd, so while I think that CB, RB, and DE might be bigger needs (in that order), I'd be OK with going for a LB.

I was a big fan of Steve Justice, and there's a chance he lasts until our 4th round pick. But, I think using our 6th on Myers probably eliminated that option. Plus, after the Brown pick, I hesitate guessing anything that Gibbs will do on the OL.

The only safety I like on the board right now is Thomas McCload. All the rest appear to better suited for SS and we have plenty of those.
Considering we have something like 8 safeties, including Demps (nearly a lock to start) and last year's 5th round pick, I kind of doubt we go for a safety, unless it's a late round pick for special teams.

Godfrey better hope he gets drafted by the Texans because he is going to get so much sh!t from the vets for that tattoo if he's on another team.

I would like Kevin Smith or Jammal Charles in the 3rd round. I think it's a lock we go DB with one of our 3rd rd picks.

Getting a back like Charles would make a lot of the fans happy for a number of reasons: UT player, exciting home run threat, and because we passed on Rashard Mendenhall. I think our offense would be near finished if we picked up a RB that would get a lot of touches.

OL-good
QB-good
WR-good
TE-good
RB- needs work

Green, Brown, Taylor, Walker, + Rookie. I could see Brown, Taylor, and Charles being a nice backfield but like some of yall, not sure if he falls to our pick in the 3rd.

CB and DE

I read somewhere that with Gibbs' system, there is a luxury in picking RB's late as they focus on picking talent with certain cut styles that lend to the system well. And another side of me would like to see AG earn the overpayment given for him to come to Houston. He's still a great RB. One of these seasons, the injury plague will pass... It HAS to.

Although.... I would love to have a Jersey with the word 'Booty' on the back, but we obviously have the QB spot locked down.

I'd love for AG to return to his probowl form. But this "injury plague" doesn't have to pass. He's old. This injury plague could be a side effect of that and it might just continue getting worse and worse.

If we have AG, Chris Brown, and a third round pick at RB, and then one of Chris Taylor or Darius Walker, we should be in pretty good shape. Especially if that third rounder ends up starting after a few games into the season.
