nice pick. EDO is telling me the patties just extended Randal Gay. They got to come way with one in the first two picks. I'd welcome Menenhall, but they're going to have to hit a home run again with a third or fourth round pick if they don't take a CB with the 18.

Look who the Pats picked at 32... :user:
I don't get it ?

Nice pick by the Steelers. (Baker) Read where they will resign Faneca. I'll believe sixty million with a hefty signing bonus when I see it. They have history of building through the draft. Which means if they get in a bidding war for Faneca, they'll let him walk.

So it falls this way and Seattle is on the clock, they are in love with Mendenhall, do you do the deal for an extra three and four ? Personly I think they need LG first..but whatever.

You have to read the post where they picked.

I saw all of the trade talk and decided it was time to move on. Searching through 8 pages of whatnot, I got better things to do. I thought I heard the budwiser: "thank you Mr. imposible trade maker pretend GM" music queing up ?

A shut down cover CB would be great, but Bennett and Leodis? Not sure Kubes will do that. I think CB will be addressed in FA and if so, I'd select Jonathan Stewart at 18. The LTs available are not franchise type players and Stewart may well possibly be. A solid LT could be chosen later especially with Gibbs training and a full ZBS.

And in our current six year trend of mediorcity or worse, they never will be at our slot in the draft. Skill guys don't get you to the SB...the lines do. I think it's interesting how New England and Green Bay have built these two offensive units over the last several drafts. They missed alot. But they keep selecting them.

You know my frequently stated position of LT being our top priority. Point is a possible franchise RB in Stewart and some may think Mendenhall will be at 18. I do not think you pass on that type player (RB position is also a high need) to draft a Sam Baker.

That's kind of my thinking as well but to all our positions of need. If there's a Franchise Left Tackle staring you in the face...take him and be done with it! however, if there's a franchise CB there- take him. if there's a franchise RB there- take him. etc. etc. Majority of the time, you won't think your looking at a franchise type of player in multiple positions- we could, probably not, but could be that lucky this draft. Personally, I want a franchise LT first, a shutdown CB second, and then a franchise RB. However the board may not be set up this way come april.

The way I see it- our franchise LT (Spencer??), franchise RB (Davis-Williams- Green-stop gap), and franchise CB (Robinson) all finished the year on IR. At least I think Green did (obviously Davis no longer playes).

Additionally, our Franchise WR spent almost half the season being injured, our Franchise QB got knocked silly and missed many games including the end of the season because of injuries.

in this mock the winners were....
Chicago - Bears fan has got to like getting the #1 QB prospect in the draft with the 14th pick overall. That is some value right there.

Minnesota - Getting Kenny Phillips at #17 is a great pick and would break my heart as a Texans fan sitting at #18.

Pittsburgh - Baker would be a great pick at a need position for the Steelers. I had not read that Faneca would be resigned. Pipe dream.

the losers were....

Tampa Bay - Drafting Brian Brohm. Another QB? They need help at WR and in Secondary. They don't need another QB.

Green Bay - I don't have problem with Patrick Lee but I thought their secondary was pretty solid.

The fans of the NFL - The Patriots were caught cheating, lost a 1st Round pick, went to teh Super Bowl undefeated, and are still going to get a #7 pick. The rich get richer.

What I can see happening is signing a starting CB and OLB in free agency. We do have the $. Draft a long time starter in 1st and third to solidify RB & LT and we have plugged 4 holes. Yes, we can possibly get a CB in draft, but then you move your other need positions down. IMO, of our needs, CB and OLB are best bets to buy a starter. I know you build in the draft, but when you can use a combination and perhaps get 4 starters, why not? This is without a trade down scenario that could possibly add another starter. Our fourth round has been productive also. This is why I am very excited this off season.

Funny you mention NE and the Pats. The Pats LT is Matt Light....48th overall pick. Chad Clifton, the Green Bay LT was the 44th overall pick.

Question is would those same players have same impact on Texans? Being surrounded by players that can pick up the DE that slips around or happens to knock you on your butt, or the LB that plugs the hole that the DT missed, etc. makes a huge difference. That's why it is hard to say well this team did good with that guy.

Those guys are NFL caliber LT's....simple as that. So you are saying that a good player isn't gonna be enough and we somehow need to find a Hall of Fame player or bust? I think that if we are coached well, Matt Light and Chad Clifton would be no less a player here than they are at NE and at GB (wouldn't Andre Johnson still be Andre Johnson somewhere else?). Having a Hall of fame LT is nice...but guys like Anthony Munoz only come around every few years.

No the main question is when are they going to stop patching, ***** footing with it and bang that need. Been awhile since boselli stood at the podium. Always something on the broard we're in need of instead. Go to war with Salaam and forty percent of your depth coming off of injuries...there is only one way this thing will play out next seson.
Gibbs better be a stinking genius.
