Cam Cameron for Offensive Coordinator!

Cam was just fired in Miami.

Say what you want to about his HC abilities, but he ran a very good offense in San Diego, one I think that we would do well to emulate.

Cam for OC! :splits:

If Jason Garrett is hired as a head coach somewhere, I would place Dallas as having a high percent chance of his landing spot. he and Wade were on the staff there together for a handful of years.

That may end up being a swap between them too. Wade will want Cam, and Parcells will want Garrett.

If we could figure out a way to bring LT here too..... :cowboy1:

I think hiring Cam Cameron for offensive coordinator would be a good idea. He helped turn the SD offensive line from putrid to above average, paving the way for Brees and LT.

Beyond that, (I think that) his offensive philosophies are probably not different from Kubiak as well.

That being said, I haven't researched this thoroughly yet, so all this may be gibberish.

However, for now. GO CAM CAMERON FOR OC!

Cameron didn't turn the line from Putrid to Above average, drafting did that.

I think Kubiak's vision for his offense is too strong to bring in a 'offensive genius' like Cameron or Martz. I expect Cameron to catch on as an OC for a defensive minded HC.

Gut instinct says the OC comes from within. (and will rhyme with Fanahan)

Nope, that would be Hudson Houck who the Chargers brought in to fix the OL--hired away from Dallas where in 9 years his OLs gave up just 203 sacks. He is available right now and it would be a great move for the Texans to pick him up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if Garrett gets an opportunity somewhere to be a head coach, Jones would have to let him go, right?
Depends on how his contract is worded but most likely Garrett did have something in the contract about leaving for an position upgrade only.

For example:

Tony Sparano is listed as Assistant Head Coach so he could only leave for a Head Coaching gig.

Jason Garrett is listed as OC so he could (depending on wording) leave for an Assistant HC or Head coach job. Knowing Jerry Garrett probably can only leave for a HC job.

I agree. But, Kubiak was gushing over the job Benton did with the o-line this season. He won't bring in Houck.

Or Cam Cameron. Get real people, it's either Little Shanny or Dorrell.

Sparano will go be Tuna's Head Coach, the Cowboys will lose, Phillips will be gone and Garrett will get the nod.

It is certainly going to be someone he has a prior relationship with. It also wouldn't surprise me if it were TE coach Brian Pariani because he and Kubiak are close, and share identical philosophies.

Whatever they do on the offensive side of the ball is likely going to be okay with me--its whatever Kubiak finds comfortable to translate what he wants to do.

It's the defensive side of the ball that gives me the willies. That game against the Jags couldn't be much grimmer defensively.

JJ couldn't refuse to let Garrett leave if it was for a HC position, but he could offer him so much money (and a future promise of the Cowboys job) that he wouldn't want to go. Wouldn't be the first time it happened, and it sounds very Cowboy-like.

Shouldn't Kubiak translate what he wants on the defensive side to the defensive coaches? If Kubiak wants a more aggressive defense, he can get his point across without micro-managing. Inevitably, the buck stops with Kubiak.

I think it's Kubiak's vision to have a defense with a strong enough defense to just be able to get pressure rushing 4 and then have the luxury of playing any variation of blitz, man, and zone that they can think of. I think Smith is trying to do that but doesn't have the manpower and hasn't created the right game plans and makes the wrong play calls at the wrong time.

I would NOT be surprised by another relatively high pick on the DL.

Unfortunately I agree although it pains me for this to be the 3rd time the Texans pass on an opportunity to get Houck.

If the right guy became available, I could see the team signing a free agent pass rushing specialist. But, I don't believe the Texans will look DL in the draft until the late rounds, if at all. I think they will count on Okoye taking a giant leap (ala Mario), and spend some FA $$$ on the secondary.

Interestingly, Lance Zierlein mentioned UT OC Greg Davis in recent blog comments as a candidate because of Kubiak's relationship to Davis.

Well yeah. I think he is in the give the defense a pass because of injuries camp. Stay the course. That Smith can't do what he wants to because of too many injuries.

But then again, Kubiak is not one to dump people publicly in the grease. He just gets rid of folks--ala Karmelowicz--though there might have more to Karmelowicz's situation.

I think he gives Smith one more year. bleh.
