Emotional loss hangover?

Many teams who suffer heartbreaking emotional wins or losses go on to follow them up with more of the same.

We laid a big egg last year after the horrible Tennessee game. Is that something to be concerned about?
 
JCF: My other thought - and I hate to bring this up - was after last year’s devastating loss to Tennessee, you guys went to New England the next week and got your hats handed to you by the Patriots. It seemed like there was definitely some sort of hangover. Do you think there’s any chance of something similar happening this time around?
BP: No, definitely not. The only remaining issue from that game is the minor bumps and bruises that a few guys sustained. I don’t think there’s a mental effect lingering over us.

Records not withstanding, SD is just a better team than us right now. They were 14-2 last year for a reason. While I do think we are an 'any given Sunday' kind of team this year, I wouldn't put money on us if I was a betting man.
 
We're going to get out asses kicked, that's a given.

I just wish some of you would put a little more thought into the blame game department.

All these "the playcalling sucked" rants are getting downright boring. :dontknowa

LMAO, I read your post on the other board and I remember hearing that caller.... Of course what I was thinking would get me yelled at and my mom would smack the ever living crap out of me, but I was thinking: "I now know where the expression 'women should be seen and not heard' came from.. :hides:
 
Remember last year when everyone liked the new blood on the team because they weren't used to losing? It is getting to be a habit again.
 
Actually, I'd say our team has had an emotional hangover since the loss to the Colts. This team was very high leading up to that game and many players called the game a measuring stick game. But, when we lost, the team lost something else - confidence.
 
They've also lost a lot of key players. Not to mention, where the team is bare is once again apparent to some people who believed the team was near infallibility after last year's offseason.

Me, I remain pessimistic to how it will all shake out this year (still sticking to my 6-10 prediction), but I'm optimistic that it is all headed in the right direction. They are a few key players and a year of experience from being a damn good team. What they are putting out there this year is definitely better than what I have seen year-in, year-out. Hell, most of the sports writers are still listing the Texans as a mid-grade team. For five years, the Texans ossilated between rankings 29th and 32nd.

They get paid to play but I have an "emotional hangover" because of the Titans game. I can't imagine how the team feels after getting booed off the field at half time, then taking the lead with a minute to play and then losing the game on a easy field goal.

I'm not going to bag on them for scoring too quickly. At least they scored.
