2-0 Seems like a thousand years ago

At least we're not the Dolphnis...
Unfortunately that feels like the ONLY bright side. Anyone else thinking we should move into the three kneel-downs and punt offense? At least our Defense can score and it will gauruntee at least a 2 minute breather.

Doesn't it though.
I'm passed being mad & upset. Now I'm trying to understand what happened ?
Or more precisely, what happened to the offense, because the D has played admirably but probably is nearly defensless now from physical fatigue.
Maybe Kubiak & Smith (or whoever is running the team next year?), will finally do something about the OLine in the Draft. And I don't mean use a late second day pick on tfhe son of an old friend.

I'm going to tell you the MAIN thing that happened...Andre Johnson got hurt.

Now defenses don't have to double a WR, guys have to catch balls covered, and even when they do catch it they gain no YAC. Also the defense is suffering because the Offense can't keep them off the field without Andre.

Andre would FORCE teams to double him, leaving other guys open, that is why you saw Schaub playing the way he did. Guys were open because of Andre.

AJs injury is old news by now. Besides, we've been getting good play from the other wide receivers even though AJ is irreplaceable.
BTW, the Titans lost someone who is arguably more valuable to their offense than AJ is to ours, and they seem to be doing OK today.
What we've had this afternoon is a total collapse of the offense comparable to the kind of efforts we had from the offense in the first year or 2 of the franchise.

AJ is our MVP. What have the other WRs done? NONE of them have become a threat worthy of double coverage. They are mainly singled and catch balls in tight coverage.

I keep hearing guys act like AJ has little to no impact on this team. He would have less of a impact if the running game was doing something but...no its not because he and OD has been our ONLY weapons on offense all year.

The problem is AJ didn't protect Schaub's blindside or frontside. He also didn't get any push for the RB. Oh and he didn't carry the ball 25+ times a game.

Another problem is I wasn't talking about that. I am talking about WRs and the passing game. He's still the MVP of the offense.

We hear the "build from the trenches" theory all of the time, but then the Texans rely on skill position players to make the o-line better. They tried to make the o-line look better with Schaub, and that was successful. He definitely makes them look better than the joker they had before.

Look better.

Even Schaub can't avoid all of the unblocked or lightly blocked players coming through the line in recent games

Now we have threads that we need better RBs to make the line look better.

We also have the excuse that our best offesnive palyer - a receiver - went down, so now they can't run the ball.

The Texans don't build from the trenches; they try to cover up the trenches with flashy players. It works, too - every off-season in the fans' minds and every pre-season on the field.

Couple that with the fact that the Texans cut better players to keep Salaam and Flanagan on the roster to:
  1. be good locker room guys or because they are familiar with the offense
  2. to provide Kubiak and Sherman with the comfort of familiar faces
I'm really not surprised.

as a resident Dolphins fan, lemme tell ya something, you guys have it worse, because you actually had high hopes, and the expectations after the 2-0 start makes now much MUCH worse than what Miami is going through. we have the hope for the future with our young talent on offense and potential to draft high and really help out the team.

Kas,

I disagree. Your offense has some young potential, but your defense is just getting old without much depth (if any). The Porter pickup was a horrendous move...

i never said the defense isn't awful. Porter has made one (1) play this year, and that was a coverage sack against Brady today when they were already up by 200 points. he's awful, no doubt.

but, there were no expecations.

I agree. Old defense. No QB. You let your two best recievers go (Welker and Chambers). Tedd Ginn was supposed to be the next Devin Hester, not even close. And a bad offensive Line. You just have Ronnie Brown.

Ginn is awesome, Welker was traded, essentially, for Samson Satele, which is looking great right now, Chambers was never that good, John Beck is looking good for the future, and the offensive line is AWESOME. really really good. Houston fans should know this, they had their best game as a unit against the Texans.

WAY too early to say Ginn is awesome; however, I do agree that the Welker trade worked out well for both teams. It is also too early to judge Beck since he hasn't been given the chance to play. The offensive line is very solid. I watched both Beck and Ginn during pre-game at the game a couple of weeks ago and Ginn does look very good and Beck has an extremely strong arm.

My second team is the 'Phins - spent my first 21 years in Miami. I am a tad frustrated at the mistakes the organization has been making for years. I hope they can turn things around and finish second to the Texans in the conference in upcoming years.

OK, I'll give you the offensive line, But to say Ginn is awesome?

As opposed to building from the trenches on defense, which actually seems to be working. Maybe the Texans organization should look at what it did so well with the defense and try to reproduce that on the offense when it comes to drafting.

Running Game and Defense are our problems. I think after todays game, Kubiak will begin making those changes on the O-line and hopefully, we will see some things shaken up at the running back position...you know, like having a speedy option at running back.
