Jersey's and Jorts

texanskan

Waterboy
Hey just wanted to ask my fellow Texan Fans to consider giving up the Jorts. They are really horrible.

I'm not a fan of jersey's either but I understand that most NFL fans wear them over polo's or t-shirts.

So before you flame me and say "fu texanskan I'll wear what I want to wear" just look in the mirror and ask yourself "Does this jersey really look good with my blue jean shorts?"

This is what I like to do, I wear shorts (one's not made with denim) and a Texans t-shirt at tailgating then I put on polo or a dry t-shirt for the game. Trust me this look comes off a little better. When it's cold I put on full length blue jeans with a polo and a cowboy hat.

Look keep the jerseys if that is what you like but please consider getting rid of the jorts they are really, really bad.

texanskan,

it's possible you don't know that a majority of the posters on this board are a part of the Bull Pen, and as being a part of the Bull Pen, we have a particular "Costume" (if you will) that has been used since the very first game. I, myself, have a certain set outfit style that I wear to every game as a traditional outfit. Every ofther day of the week, I have to dress up with nice clothes because of business, but football time is a chance for a majority of us to dress up in our "original gameday attire" and have FUN. I know this was just a recommendation, and I do recognize this.

I'm trying to be nice about this, but I know there will be more stink coming from other people regarding this post... but it is common sense (and common on this message board) that when someone comes out here and starts posting messages on what they think everyone else should do, that tends to bring upon a negative response... mainly for the fact a lot of people don't like being told how they should be doing things.

Just a simple, non-argumentative response to your post is what I am providing here. If dressing like that is what you do on your gameday experience, then please, keep on going. I, however, will not change my attire for gameday for the simple fact that I've been doing this outfit since day one.

Just a recommendation for those of you out there, don't post things like this here... all that's going to happen is you are going to stir-up a hornet's nest of bad mouthing... I know a lot of you don't like to be told what to wear, what to eat, how to comb your hair... so don't tell others how to do it. It makes things on this message board go so much smoother...

I personally prefer shorts made of other materials besides denim because of comfort. However, what is with all the attacks on denim shorts lately? I heard some guys on the radio busting on "jorts". Is this some new thing where the "cool police" have secretly decided somewhere that denim shorts are uncool and now everyone has to abide by this?

As a matter of fact those same guys on the radio where saying that men that wear football jerseys are "gay". If so I guess every NFL stadium in America is just one big gay pride rally on Sundays.

ROFLMAO

Must be someone who never got into sports in his/her life...

You know, the one in school gym who was always the first picked off in dodge ball or the last person picked when lining up to play baseball or basketball...

Guys on the radio have also implied that a wedding proposal at Reliant is a sign of a lack of manhood.

Then again, they're not proposing to the you-know-who's, are they?

Not sure why people hard on jerseys.

But jorts...

LOL This is the funniest post I've seen on any message board in years. Jorts and jerseys rank highest on your "oh no they di'nt" list?

Fashion offenses that concern me more than jorts and jerseys:

1) Tank tops on men where the sleeves are cut so low that I can see their nipples from the side.
2) Women that "shouldn't be wearing that".
3) Looking at a certain man's cameltoe that dresses like a deceased musical icon.
4) People criticizing the way other people dress when they admit to wearing a cowboy hat and finding that to be the pinnacle of fashion, when all that says to me is that they probably spend a lot more time surrounded by people in jorts than I ever will.

You don't like jorts? Great! I don't care for them much either. But who are you to start telling people how to dress at a football game? Jesus, we are lucky that almost everyone is wearing a shirt and we don't have to be exposed to half-painted, sweaty, hairy belly juice every week.

It's a fraking football game, not a fashion show. Now how about you go concern yourself with the correct placement of apostrophes and not on what everyone else is wearing.

Bye!

Try wearing my foot in your ass. I'm sure that would look good at your tailgate party. Don't worry, I'll let you bite down on your polo shirt to ease the pain.

Did I type in lifetimetv.com by mistake? How the hell did this get in here?

LMAO I had to google search "jorts" also, and that is what I came up with.... it reminds me of a certain photo of Dante' and his "jorts"

Don't feel bad Bill I didn't know either...and I thought it was just because I am behind the times!!! :specnatz:

LMAO!!! Right... I thought of a certain picture of Dante too...

I have nothing to say except I can't help but laugh about "jorts." My friends and I use the term often. Funny stuff.

Jean shorts are waaaay down the list of fashion uglies as far as I'm concerned. Let's first deal with a disturbing trend that has swept the great city of Austin, TX.

Crocs. Crocs are a PLAGUE. They are the stupidest, ugliest thing that I've ever seen. In most cities, only children and women wear Crocs. But in Austin, you see full-grown men wearing those abominations. My most hated fashion thing used to be Capris... until Crocs showed up.

I can't even go downtown much anymore, because if I do I know I'll end up seeing a man wearing man-capris, AND Crocs - and when that happens, I have to burn the city down.

Wearing Football jerseys gay?? Whats really gay is dudes trying to critique another dudes outfit. What the hell is this post anyway "queer eye for the football guy"? I am hoping to make it to a game this year, if I do let me know where you tailgate. I am going to buy the most bad-a** pair of jorts that the salvation army has to offer, pair it with a beat up #8 jersey with a duct-tape Schaub nameplate - I will then make my way to your tailgate smack you in the mouth and steal your beer (then again for the refined polo shirt crowd, you might be sipping on a wine spritzer). Dallas could use another fan like you.

Well I don't care at all about jersey's (so many NFL fans wear them) I even have two Texans jerseys (gifts) and I think they look good on women but the jorts are just plain bad and while it does not matter to me it is part of my "material" when I talk smack to other visiting fans so when so many Texan fans wear them it's hard to bring it on the smack talk.

I have had the chance to meet many of ya'll on this board and everyone has been great but seriously wearing a gameday "costume" does not mean you have to wear jorts it makes us look bad.

I'm a proud and native Texan but southeast Texas is not overalls and jort country or atleast I did not think it was.

Just looking out for our image, take care.:texan:

if you have ever been to a dallas game the jort wearing Texan fan would look like a yuppie considering most cowboy fans live in Okla, Ark, South Texas or Mexico

Good God, you have plan for talking smack that includes what people are wearing? You don't hold any punches do you, how vicious!

:gun:

O hay Falcons fans! Your attire sucks...

...considering we probably shop in the same stores...

...because we are both from major metropolitan areas.

Hrmph.

OK, maybe I'm looking at this wrong...

Is this a problem with jean shorts all together, or a "style" that's out there???

I wear jean shorts all the time, but they go down to my knee caps... I'll be damned if they exposed my hairy ass!

I just can't see what the problem is with jean shorts? Walk through Minute Made Park during gameday... a lot of jean shorts all over the place... so please be more specific on what you are talking about here

Is everyone's problem with cut offs or just denim shorts? I can see why people rag on cut offs. Those are pretty out but I have seen nice pairs of shorts made out of denim material.

For example are these "jorts"?

I'm glad i wasn't the only one...lol...Jorts???????

The "J" from jeans + the "orts" from shorts = Jorts

I've actually only heard one person say that in person... and this person was wearing Crocs, so their opinion means nothing to me.

Is this not America? The land of the free?

We are talking about a football game here - right?

Don't think there are too many people trying to make the best dressed list at a football game. People are trying to support their team and be comfortable at the same time and not worry about the beer and whatever that may get spilled.

Get real, stop trying to tell others what to do or wear. You are not their parents.

Huh??

I do not understand the hatred of jean shorts.
Jean shorts are a staple of most people's wardrobe. What the hi-ho-hello is wrong with jean shorts? What do you want the crowd to wear...SPANDEX? That is just sadistic.

You obviously do not own a jersey. This has to be a case of jersey-envy. I am a sensitive person and will offer an answer to your plight. I have a Carr jersey I will sell to you dirt cheap. Heck, I may even just donate it to your cause...'Cause it seems you must be hatin' 'cause you ain't havin'. A little duct tape and you can be Schaub, or anyone else you wannabe. Shoot, leave Carr on it and live on the edge....but don't tuck it into your Dockers, and be advised that a belt with a jersey is a bit gauche for game time attire. And for goodness sake, don't wear it over your POLO. Don't want no Fashion fo pahs in the parking lots. For shame!

This post has to be a trick. Someone had to be bored and pulled out an oar to stir the pot. No other rational reason to explain it.

:bored:

Well, that is like your opinion, ...man. I cannot begin to imagine what you plan to wear while cutting the grass or changing the oil in your car. Do you get approval from your wife every morning or event that you plan to attend, or is this actually coming from you? Either way, you may think Jorts are not fashionable but others believe that a polo and shorts (one's not made of denim) are for golf outings, business meetings, yachting, wine sniffing,...etc, not tailgating and a football game. This is America, and the reason it is such a great nation lies in the fact that people can express themselves however they like especially Jorts. Your post is not only shallow and inconsiderate, but very offending to all the people you have single handedly uber-gay-fashion-police ripped on. Next home game I will wear......

does it really matter? :gun:

Seriously, WTF is going on here???

Questioning jean shorts and the GALL to even mention that JERSEYS may be "questionable"???

This from a guy who wears a POLO w/ a Cowboy hat?

When the hell did we get linked to Bravo?

Next up - America's top tailgating models.

Think I'm going to have to go and get me a pair of nut bustin' jean short cut off daisy duke, A$$ hair showin jorts and a jersey 2 times too small so my hairy pale sweaty beer filled gas passing gut hangs out. Hey Texaskin or whatever your name was, where do ya sit so I can be near you :bat: :cowboy1: :toast2:

all seriousness though I don't really see a problem with anyone wearing a jersey. about 90% of the croud at reliant and any other stadium wears a jersey. as far as Jorts, I had to read the thread to learn what it meant. whats wrong with them? Next you're going to tell me that rolling your jeans is out or parashoot pants were a fad. shaa right. My British Knight diamond cells will never go out of style.

I ignored this thread until today, THANKS MARCIE:bat: simply because the title reaked of stupidity. I was correct! Now I will proceed trying to find a sensible thread to read!
