MSNBC: A budding dynasty in Houston?

Not that long ago, Texan success had to be measured in less than victories. It was cause for celebration when the quarterback didn’t get sacked.

That’s the single biggest difference between the Texans of old and the Texans of the last two weeks. New quarterback Matt Schaub is getting rid of the ball, not holding it like former quarterback David Carr, inviting disaster and usually finding it. The offensive line that has given up two sacks in two games is the same offensive line that played most of last season, when it gave up 43 sacks with Carr under center.

Last week, Carr watched from the Carolina sideline as Schaub went without a sack against a Panthers’ defensive line heralded as one of the best in the league. Down 14-0 early, the Texans reeled off 34 straight points on the road. They had never scored more than 31 in their first five years in existence.

Nice story and all, but let's get to .500 first and foremost and then challenge for the playoffs.

Dynasty, just a tad premature :bubble:

Wow the bandwagon filled up quicker than I thought . I'm not gonna get too excited yet . If we lose to Indy , we could possibly be 6-1 heading into SD . Then I would be excited and have a strong feeling of confidence , I still wouldn't be thinking dynasty though . After a couple of seasons with 11-12 wins and a Conference Championship appearance , that would get me thinking future dynasty . :fans: :texflag:

But we're on pace to go 16-0 :cowboy1:

Hell yeah! :fans:

But yeah. Wow.

Those idiots who made the predraft fantasy magazines sure are kicking themselves now. Maybe. They still made their money no matter what. >.<

32nd ranked defense my ass! :d:

But we're on pace to go 16-0 :cowboy1:

In furthermore,

Mario is on pace to have 16 sacks and 8 TD's

Amobe is on pace to have 16 sacks and 8 Forced Fumbles

DRob is on pace to have 16 INT's

The Oline is on pace to only give up 10 sacks

Gary Kubiak and Rick Smith are on pace to become the greatest coach and GM of all time.

I Love the pace we are on.

Dear God!

They win 2 games, and y'all act as if they are going to ascend into a higher plane of existance.

God forbid they do the unimaginable on Sunday and lose. Some of you will need to put on suicide watch.

Apparently you didnt catch the sarcasm in that post, I do love what they have done to date but they are a long way away from being the greatest ever.

Calm Down there Marcus just having a little fun.:fans:

I enjoyed reading that quite a bit. It's nice to see Mario in conjunction with performances that make people forget VY & RB(although RB is doing enough on his own to make him forgettable). The dynasty talk is WAY premature, but like has been said on here MANY TIMES, good play and victories=respect in the media and NFL.

We've already passed .500. We're batting 1.000!!!

As the poster in "Posting and You" (whatever happened to that video, anyway?) would say:

this team roxers the big 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111!!!!!!!1111111111111111
:fans: :splits::texflag:

Carr was likeable, willing, strong, durable, mobile and relatively clueless in the pocket.

One of the best jobs of summing up a player in a single sentence I've seen

man, are we about to win like 5 super bowls or what?

Apparently...

Its amazing how the national press is singing our praises all of a sudden. I knew they'd jump on the bandwagon some day, but after two games...wow. Its nice to have good attention focused on the team, but I don't want them to jinx us. I like the underdog role.

The Texans became overrated before they became underrated. How'd that happen?

Good question.

This is starting to seem waaayyy to familiar. It's feels just like all those Super Bowl rings that were awarded to the Oilers in mid-season.

I don't think our team is overrated.

I think we have a lot of talented players.

If TJ, Mario, and Amobi play well like I expect them to, that'd give us one of the best D-lines in football.

Demeco gives us one of the best MLB and defensive leaders. We have a pretty good LB corp.

Dunta gives us one of the best corners. The way he's been playing and developing he may be top 3, or 5 at the least, this year.

Offensively, I think our line is solid. Solid enough to "get 'er done". Dominating ? Not quite, but they can be at times. Case in point, the last two games with the time killing, stake in your heart, drives.

I think we have a very good QB (which is one of the most important things IMO). I think Matt can be a top 5 guy as well. Maybe higher. I think with Ahman and Dayne we have two experienced backs who can definitely provide a good run game. Nothing exceptional back there but Green is really good, and Dayne is solid.

We have AJ at wideout. Voted # 1 amongst his peers. A solid vet in Kevin Walter. A young, talented, eager grasshopper in Jacoby. We also have good depth there.

We have a nice youg TE in Daniels who can pretty much do it all. Plus behind him we have Putzier and Bruener. That equals very good depth.

Let me not forget my man Vonta. The human bowling ball, running through defenders like pins in an alley. And also making some good catches in this WCO.

On top of all of that, we have good special teams. Two explosive return men, and we've had key, game changing plays from that group two weeks in a row now.

Add on top of that we have a very good GM who has made a lot of good moves. A very good head coach who knows what he's doing. Aguy like Mike Sherman as the Offensive coordinator. A great special teams coach who may have a top 3 unit this year. Plus the fact that our team is extra motivated, extra hungry, a bunch of young guys with chips on their shoulders, some key veterans who've been around and can let these young guys know "how it's done"...Guys are comfortable with the system....On top of all that, a lot of our players are in better shape than they've ever been....TJ, Mathis, Mario is slimmer....And most importantly David Carr is gone.

I think we have a better team than a lot of cities out there and I wouldn't be surprised at all (in fact I expect it) if this team made a good play-off run.

It's a scary thought, but low-key we have a very good team.

The Colts are probably atleast a top 5 team, if not a top three or THE top team.

Anybody feeling like we'll be severely overmatched or don't have a chance to win ?

I'm actually feeling pretty good about or chances. I think that's saying something.

I kind of feel that way. We obviously have a much better chance of winning now than we've had in the past.

BUT, our secondary minus D-Rob scares the crap out of me. Carolina had 1 good reciever who dominated Petey. OK, no problem let's roll D-Rob to Smith's side. Problemed solved. The Colts have too many weapons for our mediocre secondary.

IMHO, if we can't keep the Colts O off the field by running the football and controlling the clock, we're going to be in for a long day.

I won't be surprised if we won, but I do not expect to win. :texflag:

Fair enough. I respect your opinion.

Bu I will say this...We flat out beat the Colts last year with a worse team than we have now...

But at the same time, I do respect what you're saying.

I know it sounds premature, but this is the first time ever that I feel we can line up and play with anybody. Putting the score aside last week, we dismantled the Panthers. Not even close. After we went down 14, me and my buddy KNEW we were gonna win. You could tell by our swager and demener. Totally different team.

folks in the media are looking for the next big story as soon as possible so they can say "i told ya so" somewhere down the road.

Glen Earl is the only DB not playing, who played against Indy Dec 24th.

We beat them before with Faggins as our RCB, with Dunta playing primarily on the left side.

Denver may be the only team with the Corners to cover Marvin & Wayne one on one.

I don't think the other 28 teams are shaking in their boots at the thought of having to play the Colts.

I understand what y'all are pointing out. We won the game last year by controlling the T.O.P.

As stated in my previous post. In order to win the game, we have to limit Manning's time on the field.

My point is this: I don't think our offense is ready to go toe to toe against their offense on the scoreboard. :)

It would be stupid to even try. To swap points with Indy, and see who scores last...

That is the game Indy wants to play, our defense has got to take them out of that.

That is what I am thinking. I hate to say it, but on my "Road to 10-6", I have Sunday's game as a loss. So I will be disappointed, but not crushed.

It is amazing how fast the bandwagon has grown.

IMO, it's up to our offense to create long sustained drives ending in TD's to win the game.

I think about four 10-12 minute drives and a couple TO's by our D should do the trick.:doot:

Easily my favorite post of the week. Well said!

I'm loving the 2-0 euphoria, but it's still just 2-0. The word "DYNASTY" is something you can't even say about the COLTS, much less the Texans, at this point.

Breeeeeeeeeeeeathe, y'all!

By the way, did dskillz call us .38 Special? Like these guys? Maybe REO Bandwagon would be more appropriate.

I am still alone here in Pittsburgh, My watch parties consist of 2. Myself and my Beer. Send some new recruits up here. I am sick of all the black and gold mumbo jumbo.

It is incredible in my case. I wear a Texans polo every Monday, win or lose. Every Monday I got talked about how sorry the team was, we shoulda picked Vince, etc.

This week, these same bandwagoners are now acting like they have been behind the team since day one and they are true blue fans. People have gone as far as to buy Texans flags on their car in the parking lot. Let the team lose Sunday and they will be right back to bashing the team.

Why does Sean Salisbury hate the Texans so much? I understand him picking against us in weeks 2 and 3 - but he picked the Chiefs - AND he badmouths the team whenever he gets the chance... he doesn't do that to any other team I've noticed.

Yet - he's on the Lions bandwagon. *shrug*

I hate that the dumbest person on television, Emmitt Smith, is picking us. Ugh.

Whatever happens this year just happens. But one thing is for sure, in the future we will be in the playoffs a lot and no one will be taking us lightly anymore. It's a nice feeling.

Expect more prime time games next year.

Smith isn't the dumbest person on TV. you were on the right track with Salisbury, though.
