Vote for Amobi for NFL Rookie of the Week!

Wow, this is lame. How can 4 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble

be in 2nd place to:

7 tackles.

I don't get it?? Why is Willis in 1st?

I voted.

I didn't see the 49ers game, but, from the description, Willis' performance does not sound as impressive as Amobi's.

It's all just a fan vote, really. Domanick Davis won most weeks his rookie year.

Willis is on a roll for the voters, he's going to win most weeks he's nominated when there's not another clear winner. his impressive debut on a Monday night will stick

I placed my vote. Amobi is in third place right now behind Deshawn Wynn's 50 yards on 10 carries. I know he scored twice but they didnt need it to win 35-13.

If what they did on the field is what should be voted on, Amobi and Wynn should be one and two. I voted for Amobi of course 1. cause I'm a homer and 2. his sacks killed the drive and forcing a turnover is always desirable. Willis shouldn't even be in the running.

Didn't we have this issue with the Green Bay fans when DD was a rook? Me thinks they (Packers) have a couple of guys who run programs/scripts that repeadatly vote as much as possible.

I was just thinking that it probably wouldn't be too hard to write a script to continuously vote, unless they limit the number of times a particular IP address could be used...Does that seem reasonable? Seems as though something is amiss.

The value to pass to their code is: "0_0_1190075926510_02". You can see the actual iframe source at http://www.nfl.com/polls/vote?loc=Rookies of Week/Year Page&cide=2007_reg_2

However, I see some cookie checks so I'd be surprised if all these votes people are placing aren't being reduced to 1.

Seems like it's probably a waste of time. Any programmer with half a brain would keep computers from placing multiple votes without starting new sessions and clearing cookies in between.

What really burns my cannoli is that DeMeco had 8+ tackles in almost every game, and he was only nominated twice. Both times he lost.

Ridiculous.

Then when some fancy pants linebacker shows up and plays decent for a team not named the Texans, fans vote like crazy for him.

Update:

WR Calvin Johnson, Lions = 8.167307073818915%

DT Amobi Okoye, Texans = 20.412343213094776%

LB Patrick Willis, 49ers = 38.38718960001354%

RB DeShawn Wynn, Packers = 29.06376423989031%

DT Marcus Thomas, Broncos = 3.9693958731824566%

I've voted a few times already on both of the weekly "honors" and I'm kind of at the point where I don't care. The two guys ahead of Amobi (Willis and Wynn) both turned in nice games but they in no way come close to the kind of game that Amobi-Wan had.

One guy ran for 50 whole yards and had one nice 38 yard run (so the rest of the day he was 9 carries for 12 yards? That's special ain't it), while the other guy recorded 8 whole tackles and "really seems to be thriving under coach and Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary".

These awards are meaningless.

And, remember, just because you vote multiple times, that doesn't mean that you get multiple votes.

allright, let's not dismiss others' performances just because you believe Okoye had a great game. that's a tactic i see far too often, especially around the draft, when people hype up their guy and say the other guy sucks completely.

Haven't seen any post that said anyone "sucks completely", or anything even along those lines...

I have seen a couple people state that Amobi's performance was better though...

Amobi is named GBN Rook of the week:

Texans DT wins weekly rook award… Houston had the #1 pick at the 2006 draft, however, DE Mario Williams never did win a GBN ‘Rook of the Week Award’ during his initial campaign. The Texans didn’t have to wait long to get one this year as DT Amobi Okoye, the 10th player taken at this year’s draft, wins the Week II award after his two sacks helped the Texans upset Carolina and run their early season record to 2-0. Overall, though, it was another relatively quiet week for the 2007 draft class; here are the details in this week’s Rookie Report.
It's been a good year thus far for defensive rookies. Laron Landry had a hack of a game against the Eagles on MNF. And Patrick Willis has been fantastic for the Niners. As Jethro Franklin said, Okoye is taking his first steps as a NFL DT. It's exciting to watch.
