The final 2 cuts/moves

So who's it gonna be? Was it just me or did Kubiak sound like there might be a MOVE possible (trade, or PUP possibility)? I wonder why they didn't PUP Abbate and Frye - I guess they think no one will pick them up.

Well judging by Kubiak's presser, I don't think Studdard is going anywhere. He seemed to let it slip (although I hate to call it a slip) that Studdard had made the roster.

Well, there are rules about PUP'ing someone. They have to be examined by an independent doctor, I think. So Abbate and Frye weren't injured enough to PUP.

I think Cedric Killings is gone and possibly Dexter Wynn.

I think they might be trying to work a deal possibly with Jeb Putzier. They could probably get something for him.

package him with black for a real tackle :specnatz:
They actually get a BETTER deal if they DON'T include Black. :gun:

I thought it was funny. On the NFLN, (I think it was) Faulk was talking about how LJ was going to have a tough year this year because that Cheif line wasn't what it used to be and how LJ was going to be missing Shields, and Roaf.... and BLACK. :shades:

I laughed. I cried. It became a part of me.

I believe the cuts have to be done by 5:00 PM Sat.
Thanks. And what's the info on Black? Why's everyone so opposed to him being on the team? As you can imagine from my board name, I don't really get to see many games, so I'd really like to know. Wasn't he a solid starter in KC?

Chiefs fans hated him (gave him the nickname I-65 cause he left a lane so open you could drive an interstate through it), and he had an awful play-off game. I remember watching some Chiefs behind-the-scenes stuff, and they were showing a picture of Black being pushed around and dominated, and Herm Edwards made the comment they had really upgraded the line in the offseason. Also, Black didn't have a stellar pre-season. JMO.

I think the last 2 cuts will be Cedric Killings and Joel Dreessen. Of course they may cut more if they are able to pick up someone else's cut that would fit their team.

If Abbate isn't picked up by another team by the deadline today, he will make it to the practice squad. If this happens, I think Jameel Cook will be packing his bags. By keeping 4 TE's, the Texans can use one of those TE's as a backup FB if needed. As for the other cut, I think it will either be Cedrick Killings or Dexter Wynn.

I reckon we'll look to trade for a safety before the deadline, which I thought was 3pm Eastern?
Wow, good call!

I think Killings is gone and we choose either Pittman or Dreessen. Maybe acouple other guys we might pick up on the waiver wire.

Killings is gone and Harrison to IR, per the Rick Smith interview on the offical home page.

And that gets us to 53.

Could you list who else they drafted those years, as well as where they are right now? It'd be much appreciated.

That's a lot of football players...

What I take from it:
1. This is a "why the Texans have fallen on hard times" argument, but that's 18 drafted and currently playing compared to 33 not playing. 18 out of 51, if my math serves me right. That's not a productive draft or development.
2. The Texans are lousy in the third round. Hopefully Jones breaks the mold, but I am really surprised at how many third-rounders either haven't panned out or are having trouble (Spencer, Morency, Peek, Wand, Ragone, Hill).
3. It's hard to make the team when you are a fifth, sixth, or seventh-rounder. All the more reason to appreciate Faggins' and Brown's ability and at the same time see it as a sign of the weakness of the defensive secondary (i.e., why Babin needed to be traded).
4. I gotta bang the drum for Studdard. It's impressive that the sixth-rounder has lasted this long, but he had a good preseason, is becoming a fan favorite, and is a Longhorn...:)

What about ex Seattle/Green Bay Safety Marquand Manuel? He was cut by Green Bay yesterday. Does anyone know anything about him?
