TC tickets FUBARED as usual

Due to a "media miscommunication," you can only get up 6 tickets for TWO ppractice sessions.

Every dang year. Two Wachovia's later, I'm just going to call the Texans. If I had advance notice, I could have called some friends. Grrrr.
 
Right I am a little ticked off about the unseen fine print as well...There was a max of 12 tickets per location...I ended up getting 4 tickets to the last 3, since I will be in town for those other dates. They also made me fill out some form...I did not give my correct information...

Why when I called the TC hotline- 832-667-2007- it sounds like only the kids will be able to get autographs...Sounds like I need to babysit somebodies child on these dates....

I really wish they would just be upfront about everything...then there would be no room for complaining.
 
It's not fine print, it is incorrect information or miscommunication on the part(s) of the Texans and the bank.

Where did you get this autographs for kids only tidbit from?

I'm actually ok with that. Autographs kinda' ruined TC if you had ANY interest in getting one, because instead of watching TC you just waited in line the ENTIRE session.

Now I don't have to worry about it?
 
I haven't gotten any TC tix yet. I was going to try this morning, but read they were only at certain bank locations. Had to get to a meeting this morning and I didn't think I would get to one of the locations and still make my meeting. Not sure if I read that correctly or not, but I may call around and see if there are any left.

But did get some good news that my Season tix are on the way. So that helped ease the pain.
 
Been to 2 different locations and both had practice tix. Not real happy about their "miscommunication.................. Give me what I want at one location.......

Obviously a brand new restriction this year, and a significant one.
I went to Wachovias new location at El Camino/Bay Area in Clear Lake and was real disappointed to be told tickets were limited to 2 dates/practices.
That's a real bummer ! Texans crack PR team with just another surprise to upset the fans ?
 
Texans promotion depeartment is total fubar sometimes., then again being in Austin it is like they do not even care about us.
 
Someone from the main board should have been somewhat more diligent in explaining only tics for 2 tc practices were allowed. In the Wachovia on the NW side of town it was quite chaotic when we found out we had to give our personal information, certain kids were not given tickets, supposedly they had to be old enough to open an account, yet other kids were given tickets, it was just ridiculous. The manager at one of the Wachovia's said it was his tickets, he was in possession of them and he has his own rules. When a lady then called the Texans for clarification, the Texans rep. wanted to speak to the head guy at Wach. he would not get on the phone.
I had to go to several banks and still don't have all the practices.
Why are the Texans allowing this?
This is nonsense.
I will be calling the Texans, no need for these games.
Anyone else have issues?
 
I didn't have any issues. I got 6 tickets to the 2 dates I wanted. They did ask me if I had an account, I said no. She asked me what bank I had an account with and asked my name, but that was it.
 
Here's my experience.

First to set the context, I knew it would be FUBAR because it was FUBAR last year and even the year before when they were doing it through Ticketmaster.

The confusion in the past (both at Ticketmaster and Wachovia) was limited to the interpretation of "limit 6 tickets per person."

Knowing that, a few days ago when I read the initial announcement for training camp tickets on the Texans website and saw "Limit 6 tickets" I decided to call the Texans marketing Dept., and ask them to update the website to say "Limit 6 tickets per person per practice" which they immediately did.

Nowhere did it say or imply "maximum of 2 practices." Needless to say that thought never crossed my mind.

So last night, knowing that Murphy was in charge of this mess, I printed out a copy of the page that said ""Limit 6 tickets per person per practice." My goal was to get 2 tickets for all 7 practices. I didn't need the full allotment.

Fast forward to 9:05 a.m. I go to the Wachovia at Bay Area and El Camino in CL, and ask for training camp tix. They say, "please fill out this form" (name/address/phone). Harumph #1.

Okay I'll play along. I know some junior marketing person's performance appraisal probably depends on it. But at the same time, I'm thinking that the Texans need to be clear with people that you will be asked to provide personal information in order to get tickets.

Then I ask for 2 tickets for each practice. The person at the desk says "you can only get tickets for two practices." I say there must be some mistake and show him my printout that said 6 per practice per person. He said "we just had a conference call on this." "You can only get tickets for two practices, take it or leave it." Harumph #2.

I say to the man, "you know all I'm going to do is drive down to Seabrook and get two more, and then go to Pasadena to get two more, and then to somewhere else to get the last one, right?" "Does that make sense," I asked him? He shrugged his shoulders and gave me his best "hey I only work here" answer.

Then I placed a call to the Texans marketing dept and told them what happened. They (Lance) agreed that it was a bit odd and he would check into it. I asked him to call me back.

In the meantime, I drive down to Seabrook and walk in to the lobby and ask for training camp tickets for the other sessions. The girl behind the desk said "there's a couple things I need you to do first." Okay, here we go again...

"Fill out this form" (same one as the CL branch) and then I'll need you to meet with Mr. so and so here so we can "get to know you better."

No more harumph....I'm starting to get pissed now, but I'm not showing it. And I know exactly what's going on.

I said to Mr. so and so "I'm just here to get tickets."

Mr. so and so replies, "well this is part of our promotion, we'd like to get to know you a little better and offer a free financial health checkup" (or something to that effect)

As we stood at the receptionsist desk, I told him "well you and the CL branch have my name and address so just give me a call sometime."

"It'll only take 5 minutes," he replied.

I looked at him and explained in a fair amount of detail (and as politely as I could muster at this point), that my portfolio is being managed very well, thank you very much.

Mr. so and so appeared to be a bit irritated now. He asked if he could call me. I said yes. He shook my hand and walked away, telling the receptionist "only two practices!"

She either didn't hear him or sensed my angst and proceeded to serve up 2 tickets to each of the remaining practices that I wanted. It was 9:45. Not bad.

In the meantime, Lance from the Texans (who was very helpful and cooperative btw) called back and said that indeed there was a 2 practice limit and that the website had been changed to reflect that.

He also said something the surprised me a bit, saying that it was Wachovia and not the Texans that set the 2 practice rule. I know they're a big sponsor and everything but I'm a fan of the Texans and its their product I'm interested in, not Wachovia's (especially now). Can't the Texans set the ground rules for their fans and how they will attend practices?

There were other things said that are equally head scratching but I won't get into them here.

And yes, I felt jerked around - at least for an hour or so. I got all the tickets I wanted, but not without a hassle. I think the Texans need to put something on the website in the future that fans are required to provide personal information and agree to a financial health checkup prior to receiving the tickets.

Either that or agree to provide DNA and submit to a full body cavity search prior to receiving tickets. That might be less painful.

It's not so much what they are doing (just be clear with the policy up front) it's how they are doing it - and it seems like it's messed up in one way or another every year.
 
The Wachovias I went to would not give any tickets unless one filled out the forms. That really needs to change.
I have already spoken to the Texans and they were apologetic saying there was miscommunication. No problem w/ my team but I do resent having to trade my info for tc tickets. This was not a contest.
Maybe the Texans need to get another sponsor next year. I guess it is Wachovia setting the rules.
 
This feels strange to type this but I am getting tired of these issues and may opt to not attend training camp. It is not fun like it was in the past (before Wacko Bank) and it doesn't seem like the Texans really care one way or the other on this issue. I guess the shiney new penny is not as shiney anymore.:bat:

How many do you need? My wife (hopefully) picked some up this afternoon, I can see how many extra we'll have...
 
So "free" doesn't really mean "free", does it? Not only are you driving around wasting $3.00 a gallon gasoline, you have to get manhandled by the bank emps...sounds like fun to me.

I think I will just wait until preseason to see my Texans.
 
I spent an hour of personal leave from work and probably about 20 miles of driving.

I don't like to byatch about free stuff because the Texans don't have to do this (although it's a great gesture/annual event and I hope it continues). But my only point is if they are going to continue this for the fans, they really need to work out the kinks in the ticket distribution method. It's pretty screwed up every year.

Some people were saying earlier that the two practice limit gives more people a shot at tickets. Well ... not really. Wachovia Man was fully prepared to give me 12 tickets (6 each for two practices) but he couldn't give me 7 tickets (1 each for seven practices) because of the two practice limit.

If someone can explain that logic, I'm all ears. I'm sure it has to relate to potential customer contact opportunites in one way or another. Or maybe not and I'm giving them too much credit for having a well thought out plan when they might be winging it.

I have suffered awakophobia (the fear of not getting training camp tickets) for the past two years. :shades:
 
Most maybe all would disagree with me I'm sure, but I'm willing and even happy to pay for the tickets if that's what it takes to get me into each practice.
Of course I'm not talking about anything like forking over the going price of attending a game, but I don't think its another entitlement people/fans should necessarily expect gratis and I'd be willing to pay a nominal amount.
But then practices are just that important to me.
I can get a better look at individual players at a practice session than I'll ever get at a game, and I totally enjoy the one-on-one drills which I can't get at all at a game. This is especially important to me when the season is just beginning and we've got so many new faces on the roster I'm not familiar with.

I understand how fans can be frustrated over Wachovia's ticket policy. When Foley's distributed the training camp tickets, you could get 6 or 8 tickets per session. But if you weren't in the cue before the ticket window opened, you probably went home without a single ticket. I went to 3 Wachovia's in probably half the time I spent in line at Foley's, and got all of the tickets I needed.

I know that I'm fortunate in that I don't punch a clock and I get to drive around quite a bit in my job. But, I walked right into a one Wachovia at lunch time, I'm the only fan there, and the guy has plenty of tickets to every practice. Sure, I had to give some personal information. It wasn't necessarily MY personal information. I'm in and out in less than 2 minutes. Really, how hard was that?

Maybe we can help facilitate the distribution of the tickets here. I'm sure a lot of people have extra tickets to 2 practices, but need tickets for the rest. Once I dole out the tickets I've promised, I'll happily make available the rest. Others will do the same. Together, we can get through this. :fans:

The problem/complaint is that this wasn't announced prior to anyone going to a Wachovia and even seemed to catch the Texans off guard. As late as 9 AM this morning HT.com said 6 per person per session. They need to get their ducks in a row and publish the correct info on their web site and in the Chronicle. I have a feeling we just watched the Bank bullying the Texans.
 
To he11 with Wachovia and the Texans for this mess... I am a fan of the Texans, and I am not looking for starting a new checking account with Wha-chagonnado-covia. I am quite pleased with my current banking conditions and have no thoughts or plans to change that. How dare the Texans allow this to happen, especially to us fans that have been here since day 1... :dontknowa

I used to enjoy going to training camp, watching all the great potential players and get an idea on what kind of action we might be able to see in the season... now with all the B/S that is happening here, screw them both! :hairpull:

So, in response to this mess, I am going to go to the training camps, but will not be going in to watch... I will begin my season of tailgating by sitting in the parking lot during the events. I would love to be able to go and support the team as much as possible, cheering and showing the guys we are behind them still, but thanks to these two groups, that is one less positive cheering voice for the guys to hear in the crowds during TC.

I was in and out of the first place I visited in 5 minutes. Not hard at all.

The problem was having to get in my truck and drive 8 miles to the next place - unplanned since the 2 practice limit was apparently someone's brainstorm only this morning - and do it all over again. Then go through the same deal with different people but only this time let them know that my investment portfolio is well managed and none of their business. The Texans didn't even know how Wachovia was distributing tickets (at least that's what I was told at about 10:00 this morning by the friendly Texans Marketing Events Coordinator ). That's no way to run an empire.

I don't punch a clock either - as long as I make 40 it doesn't matter how I get there - but it's the disorganization of it all that continues to be frustrating year in and year out and my time is important. I'm not even the one using the tickets for a couple of the sessions. I was getting them for someone else.

Some people ended up having to go to 4 different Wach branches. Again, not all that hard, but kind of stupid if you ask me. I'm guessing the chances of someone opening a new account at Wachovia after today are inversely proportional to the number of branches they visited. But then again, a lot of people are just fine with attending two (or even one) practice(s) and this is not a big deal.
 
Maybe next year they will be sponsored by Burger King and you will have to buy a "biggie meal" in order to get two tickets to one practice.

The fans that get tickets to all the practices will truely be able to say they are really BIG fans.
 
It was ridiculous. I went to two branches to get the tickets I needed.

One, after some begging didn't make me leave the personal information. The other one insisted that I do it, so I wrote in big letters DO NOT CALL, DO NOT MAIL. I shoulda just made stuff up.

They told me that the policy changed because last year some branches were out of tickets in an hour and a half. Groups were coming in and grabbing lots of tickets and reselling them.

If they are going to partner with the bank in the future, they need to give an option to season ticket holders to get the training camp tickets that they want.

The policy really is ungood for those of us that go our own selves but want to go to multiple sessions.
 
You guys need to try a small town. I went to Cleveland only because it is close - relatively speaking - to Lake Livingston where I live.

Yes, I had to fill out a form but I was also handed the entire box of tickets and told to take what I wanted as the lady was helping a gentleman.

I took 6 to each practice as I thought that was the rule - silly me.

If anyone wants tickets - just pm me your address and I will send them. I'm only planning on attending the 28th pm and 29th am at this point - it is a long drive.
 
What I don't understand is what Wachovia thinks they will gain by forcing us to give information.....And Wachovia - if you're listening - IT'S NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Those tactics are likened to that of used car salesman.....


My experience:

  • Alarm goes off. Turned it off instead of hitting snooze (doh!)
  • Get to Wachovia at 10am. (Slept in late...)
  • Walk up to financial desk.
  • "Can I help you?"
  • I'd like the training camp tickets.
  • "Fill this out"
  • OK
  • "Which practices do you want"
  • All of them
  • "You can only have two"

So I show him my paper and he shows me his, as he answers the phone (rude). I push the issue but he won't budge. I point out that it doesn't say anything about me having to fill out some form, to which he mutters, "Yeah...well..." - which I just repeat back to him with a question mark on the end of it. So I take 6 tickets to 2 practices instead of 2 to each like I wanted. I figure I can trade them, or use them at a different practice - I doubt the gate keepers will notice. On the way out I tell him not to bother contacting me......

I sure as heck won't recommend that bank to anyone..... Damn pirates...:pirate:


Texans - here's a great way to do this. Take the # of practices X 2 = Maximum number of tickets per person. Don't limit it to certain number of practices. After all what's the difference between 12 tickets between 2 practices and 12 tickets between 6 practices. (Yes I know there are 7, just making a point. This is handled poorly every year. I wasn't a bit surprised, just disappointed that the Texans have yet to rectify this.

I doubt it. It is an avenue for revenue. Why do you think Wacko Bank paid to distribute free tickets? They see us as leads.

Verizon and Coke have a booth at training camp. They are not there for the fun of it. They are making money out of the deal and they pay to be a part of it.
 
After reading this thread I have concluded that it was wackyovia bank and not the Texans that created this mess. Easily solved, close your accounts at wackyovia, hit em where it hurts. If every Texan fan closed thier account they probably would not sponsor anymore he he. The Texans on the otherhand were polite and informative like always. I am sure there will be some words exchanged between sponsor and greatest football team in the world. It is active Football season and I am gratefull. YEEEEE HAWWWW

That's what I'm afraid of but I think the outcry from fans would be too great. TC sessions have been full from the get - go. I've heard that Kubiak didn't want any public sessions last year, but sponsors (like Wachovia) pay incredibly huge dinero to get their names on tickets and signage at the practice facility during that 2-3 week period.
 
Man you guys are funny. I knew that the ticket situation with the bank was going to be screwed up so I sent my wife to get as many tickets as she could before I went.

So she went to the bank by her work and got all the tickets for the weekends and then I went and got tickets fro the weekdays. No problems.

Everybody should have known that the bank was going to ask for some info, because they did it last year. If you spent more than 10 minutes inside the bank trying to get tickets, it was one of 2 reasons.

The 1st would be that there was someone in line before you or 2nd that you tried to argue with the person who make $11 an hour handing out free tickets.It took 2 seconds to fill out something that you didn't even have to put your real phone number on there.

If the Texans ended TC, all of you on here would be whinning that you had to wait longer to see the Texans in action. Quit whinning and lets get ready for some football!!
