Tank Johnson gone for 8 games

Errant Hothy

Hypermediocrity
8 games for 2 months in jail....

At that rate Vick will be suspended from the NFL for 7 years... AFTER he gets out of prison.

I would like to see how the commish justifies suspending Pacman who has not actually been convicted of a crime gets an entire season while a person who has been convicted and served time in prison for it gets 8 games.

This should be interesting.

If PacMan serves some time, he'll probably get a reduced suspension for Time Served.

But Goodell talks to these guys and bases his suspension on his objective feeling for whether he thinks the guy is guilty and whether the guy has learned his lesson.

After Pac Man told Goodell that he'd learned his lesson, then had to admit that he'd been out at a strip club before coming to talk to Goodell, I don't think the Commish thought Pacman was really sincere.

The commish probably makes no connection to league rules/punishment and the judicial system.

Two totally different processes which can have totally two unconnected/measurable outcomes.

So how many "hunches" will actually hold up in court when it goes to arbitration. I would guess none.

Pacman has a right to go where ever he wants. If he decides to goto a club he is not banned. Nothing from Goodell was stated that he needed to keep himself in some morally higher position then anyone else. I do not think it was the smartest thing to do but still not against any rule that has been set on Pacman. I guess Goodell can now start telling him what to eat, who to talk to ?

Like the guy or not the decisions need to come down informally. It also makes Goodell look like he has something against pacman or Bias. There is no way this would hold up in court and if the ruling came from the courts that Goodell was in the wrong with the amount of time he suspended him it is going to make him look like a bias clown.

That works if he had not sited the "run-ins with the police" as the reason for suspending him. NFLPA will be all over this .....

As one person pointed to the fact that Qubert went to a strip club before visiting the commish and then after a self proposed midnight curfew, he was pulled over for speeding without his drivers licenses at 12:45 am. Oh and yeah and no one was shot because of what Tank Johnson did or stirred up. Can you say that about Qubert?

Tell me another employer who would keep an empolyee, that has done what qubert has done, none. A company has the right to deceide how employees must conduct themselves. This what what Goddell has done and your homey deceided his own fate by being reckless no one else. You want to blame someone blame Qubert.

They did appeal and the appeal was denied. The NFLPA said if your homey wants to sue then he is on his own.

Wierd, because the facts say other wise ....

Players union supports Jones in appeal - is the title of the article dated 5/29/07.

"Your suspension of Jones without pay for the entire 2007 season is clearly excessive and much greater than discipline imposed upon other players for the same or similar incidents," the NFLPA said in a letter to Goodell May 23.

Riiight ... do you even know what Johnson was arrested and sent to prison for? No one has been shot but in two separate instances he has had unregistered fire arms on him. This last time 6 fire arms were found all unregistered.

I find it odd that he has so many #1 but why not register them? No way an unregistered gun committed a crime.

I believe it was Public Enemy who said "I wasn't even licensed to have one."

If memory serves me correctly they were registered in Az just not in Ill. But the facts are still no one was shot because of what he did and yet you can ask the paralyized man what his thoughts are on Qubert.

I would imagine that since Goodell is lets say the CEO of the NFL and these players are making millions, he can pretty much tell them what they can do.It could be worse. He could just come out and say if you do something that tarnishes the perception of the leauge you will never play again!

I believe that was implied at the end of Pacmans last visit.

If Pac is going to be gone for 16 games, Johnson should at least have the same suspension, as should Vick. Goodell did not wait to hear the outcome of the Vegas thing on Pac so why wait on Vick?

Because it was just not about Vegas, it was also abot the two arrest in Georgia that are still pending and league rules stipulate you must inform the league of all arrest which Qubert failed to do.

Tank has a chance to get his act together.

Pac-man is a lost cause and got off lightly.

I hope when your judgment day comes it is not based on things you did as a teen or young adult. All of the instances in question came when he was 23 or younger. If people at 23 are lost causes; why not just execute them on the spot a la Judge Dred? I maybe asking the wrong state on this one ....

was going with that or;

So you think a guy who has two convictions for possession of unregistered weapons and who has served time for this offense has a chance but a guy who has not actually been charged with a crime is beyond reproach?

Two days after last December's raid, Willie B. Posey, Johnson's bodyguard, was shot and killed in an early-morning fight while he and Johnson were at a Chicago nightclub.

I guess because it is Johnson’s body guard not a bouncer at a club he did not bring the man into harms way. If Johnson had not gone to the club his body guard would not have been shot to DEATH!

So how does that work out in hypocrisy land? Are you telling me that a guy who has multiple arrests for weapons possessions just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets his guard shot? R…..iiiiight.

Are you trying to suggest that Pacman has not been charged with a crime?

To date no charges have been brought against pacman. While 3 are still pending one from when he was a sophomore in college, the police have not actually charged him with anything yet. It is still "pending" per the courts. Nothing in Vegas yet ..... GA dropped one of the possession charges .... The other is still pending ....

Huh? :idonno: How did GA drop one of the charges if he hasn't been charged with anything yet?

He has been charged with felony obstruction in GA.

Dude you really sound like some girl who lost her meal ticket with how much you are crying about Qubert not working. I am sure you will find another john to get money off of, it is what ho's do best.

:um: If you actually took the time to read the thread instead of spouting of nonsensical garbage you would look like less of a chump. I quoted right out of the main article in the first post.

I also like how you try to deflect your embarasment over your last few posts onto me. Attacking the poster instead of the post is the first sign of nothing to say.

OK I scanned the articcle and missed that sentence, but then again that incident has nothing to do with why Jonson went to jail.

Of course that fact seems to have slipped by you all together.

No I am not embarrassed by anything I have said and have no reason to be.

Your still crying about Qubert and it is funny, I have never seen someone so head over heels like this about some dude you don't even know.

I never said it did. All I said was I find it interesting that a guy seems to feel that he needs to be surrounded by guns, gets busted on it, and within a week gets in a gun fight ending up with one of his group dead. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to make a connection.

I guess ignorance is bliss.

I think it is funny that I ask for a fair shake for a guy on the team I like and you are so homophobic that you instantly play the gay card.

LMAO..... Good catch there, Arrow.

Anyway, when I was 23, I had already served my country and started school at TAMU.

One of my mistakes cost me dearly. But I owned it, I took responsibility for it.. It's called accountability.

As far as Tank v. Pac-man here's the difference.

Tank:
Upon his release, took responsibility. He sounded genuinely remorsefull. He talked about his reflection while incarcerated. He must have some shred of decency, given that many of his teamates, Lovie Smith and Bears FO people spoke on his behalf and visited him.

Pac-man:
Where there is smoke there is fire. While he may have dodged some bullets in the past, it will catch up to him. I seriously doubt Jeff Fisher or many from the Titans organization will be visiting Andrew if he is sent to prison...

Well aren't you blissful.

By the way you are assuming they had guns at the night club. While one was shot it says nothing about him packing heat now does it. But hey he deserves a fair shake and you are not giving him that, very two-face. Well your are not Hercule Poirot that is for sure.

Here is a hint: Read the article. Your ability to push your foot deeper in your mouth is amazing.

a violation of his probation on an earlier gun charge. That charge stemmed from Johnson's 2005 arrest after a Chicago nightclub valet reported seeing Johnson with a handgun in his SUV

So I guess this time since the police had raided his house and taken his guns he could not actually take them out. What is scary? If that raid had not taken place he probably would have been packing and more people would have died or been hurt.

You call me two face but obviously have either no short term memory or reading comprehension was not taught at the special school. Here I will quote what I said so it will make it easy for you.

If Pac is going to be gone for 16 games, Johnson should at least have the same suspension, as should Vick. Goodell did not wait to hear the outcome of the Vegas thing on Pac so why wait on Vick?

All I am asking for is the suspensions to be consistent with what Goodell has said. Go ahead and make up more stuff I have said, and I will continue to make you look like a clown quoting post that contradict what you have said.

This case is cut and dry, he went to jail on a conviction. How more obvious that you have broken the law can the system make it? Pacman on the other had has not been convicted. So tell me how someone whom the courts deem a free man vs. a man who is on probation still and has served time in prison get a longer suspension?

On top of that Johnson is allowed to practice with his team, allowed to play in pre-season, and only an 8 games suspension and if he is good he gets that dropped to 6 games. A guilty man by his own admission.

Compared to:

A 16 games suspension, can not play in pre-season, can not work out with the team or be on the team facility accept 1 day a week once the season starts to see game film. A man whom the US court system has yet to convict of one crime brought up by Goodell for grounds of suspension.

Life is not fair, get over it already. Like I said your jumping to conclusion, the reported that he had a gun, it says nothing if there was a gun or anything of the like.

Qubert failed on a self proposed curfew which he told to the commissoner, how much more plain and simple can you get. He has failed on every level, including not reporting one of the arrest in georgia. League rules state you must report all arrest. For that reason alone he could be suspended.

Get it through your thick head and use it for something besides to grow hair on. He has gotten a fair shake, he made his bed now he has to live in it.

So you honestly think that he got put on probation on the word of a valet? You are seriously naive if you believe that. Breaking his probation caused the jail term he served.

Because you say so right? The NFLPA and several analysts that are actually paid to critic the process have said it will be hard to defend the suspension as it was an unprecedented amount of time and Goodell has not been consistent with his rulings.

I asked for consistency not fairness. Again part of reading comprehension.

Dude you need to get over your higher than thou attitude. I feel very sorry for you because you think everything should be equal and consistant, it is not. Neither is the legal system, so if you think because he looks at each case seperately the courts will say that is wrong when they do it themselves. Wow you truely are delusional.

So far you have proven that you did not read the article, had no clue what was is in the article and you come off like that. This is a business wrongful suspension of an employee in a union will goto arbitration. The main reason the NFLPA is in place is to protect the rights of the players to a fair an consistent punishment.

Higher then thou ..... :wow:

Now having a differing opinion then you makes me higher then thou. That is rich.

Keep in mind that its not THAT simple Arrow.

The NFL brand is a private business that has its employees signed to contracts. The contracts ALL have boiler plate language with nice little catch-phrases such as moral clauses and "conduct detrimental" the team or even more pronounced the league. Given that nice little language in the boiler plate, is the NFL's right to pretty much rule as they see fit.. Here's the thing, Pac-man can sue the NFL to play again, but the NFL has way more money than Pac-man and can lock him up in court for many of years. Meanwhile, he will be out of the league for a couple of years and his days are over.

Oh, by the way... Quit with the holier than thou commnets... j/k

I would hope that you could offer more than that... What are you judging? How did you arrive at your giving anything to anyone? Not a flame, just curious!!

relax.. i was just referring to how the thread has turned into a arrow-spectnatz slugfest and eventhough i think pacman is a turd, i thought BA made some good points

What he thinks Qubert is deserving of a better shake or he wants consistancy without proving that both cases are completely different. He thinks I can't read or comprehend and keeps saying that, but he is the one the jumps to conclusions based on only some of the facts in the article.

Oh and since Qubert did not tell of one of his arrest he broke a rule that no of the others did. He failed to live up to a self imposed midnight curfew by being pulled over at 12:45 am while speeding without his drivers license. This is after he told the commissoner, that he would clean up his act. Besides if Qubert could be a good boy, which is doubtful, he could have the suspension reduced to 10 games. Johnson only has 8 games but can only reduce it by two games, down to 6. Qubert can get his reduced by 6 games if yhe would just stay his punk butt ot of trouble.

He is getting every chance in the world to clean his act up and is not doing it and you want consistancy. Now that is completely laughable.

I can see your point here TB but that was not the point of me commenting on this thread. If pacman is banned so be it. It would be a shame to see a player with such talent never use it, but as you have said we make our bed and have to lie in it. My point of posting on this thread is that Vick and Johnson both have been accused or convicted of greater crimes then a weed possession charge or obstruction (based on a weed charge). Dog fighting IMO brings an animals life into harms way and should hold more of a punishment then a minor drug possession charge. Carrying unregistered weapons to a club or knowing that you should not have weapons and go above and beyond and have 6 has consequences. Guns kill people weed does not. If Pac is banned the same level of punishment should be brought on these guys as well.

Now if Goodell feels that the punishment for Johnson was just and fair again on the vibe he feels from talking to Johnson then he needs to be consistent and hand down the same level of punishment to pac. The disparity between the two suspensions is what bothers me the most. If pac had a 10 game and this guy an 8 I bet no one would really care. But it is like he is trying to blame all of the NFLs problems on Pacman and that some how banning him is going to change anything. It is just making him look bias.

Also I believe I was on my high horse not higher then though .... :shades:

ahhh you miss me ... :cry2:

I actually wrote a post in response to your other one about learning a tough lesson and after re-reading it I thought it was a little low brow. Though I doubt it would have offended you I respect you enough not to post something that might have in that manner.

How do I jump to conclusions? Yes I speculate on the "what ifs" about a guy twice caught with unregistered weapons who’s body guard was shot, but the fact is simple the guy went to prison and broke the rules of his probation. Pacman on the other had has not been convicted of a crime. Not sure about anyone else but a crime is larger then no crime. Now if Pacman gets convicted then my argument holds no water. Until then Johnson committed a crime and deserve a harsher sentence then someone the police can not even get to spend time in jail.

Besides if Qubert could be a good boy, which is doubtful, he could have the suspension reduced to 10 games. Johnson only has 8 games but can only reduce it by two games, down to 6. Qubert can get his reduced by 6 games if yhe would just stay his punk butt ot of trouble.

That statement is not accurate. At no point in the original suspension did Pacman get an out that put him back in in 10. Goodell said after game 10 Pacman needed to come in and speak with the commissioner, and later said that there was no chance of him playing this season. So again a 16 game suspension when compared to a 6~8 games suspension is not consistent, which has been my point the entire time.

Jones will be strictly monitored by the Titans and the NFL during the suspension as part of his opportunity to earn reinstatement through adherence to a set of conditions. His status will be reviewed after the Titans' 10th regular-season game to determine the extent to which he has complied with the conditions and whether the suspension should be affected by the disposition of any pending or prospective charges.

I am aware of the ruling. But take a second to read this last line dirrectly regarding what is happening at game 10.

His status will be reviewed after the Titans' 10th regular-season game to determine the extent to which he has complied with the conditions and whether the suspension should be affected by the disposition of any pending or prospective charges.

This is basically an out for Goodell to suspend Pacman indefinitely depending on the outcome of the Vegas issue. How could this in any way help him? Right now he has not been charged with a crime and Goodell specifically mentioned the 4 incidences he was basing his suspension on. Vegas was not one of them. He added the rider if you screw up again you are out of the game. Sounds to me if he gets any charges brought against him in Vegas he is banned from the game.

No were in that does it even imply that he can return.
