Shouldn't I be seeing 500 posts about picks 2-4? I'm not familir with these guys.

Don't know how I feel about a D-II guy with small hands. WHat about Bennett and Harrison? I'm not familiar with either (though we have needs in both of those spots). Will any of the 3 start?

As far as Jacoby Jones goes I have already seen him compaired to the Saints rookie, Coleston.

Second day guys don't figure to start for the most part....lots of potential...I'm in a mostly wait and see mode.

I think Smith and Kubiak have addressed the main needs in this draft.
LEt's just see if they pan out.

Yup, I definitely agree ALL with the positions. Maybe toss in an OL before the draft's over.

You're right, until fall we won't know about the actual players.

I would have preferred Josh Gattis over Brandon Harrison.

Harrison is the only pick i'm not too kean on but I think we've had a great draft.

Harrison seems more of a SS.....so I hope Smith knows what he's doing. He's shown me he does so far though...

Most of us are in the second day draft thread. Basically a play by play analysis of the draft.

I would have taken either Wendling or Gattis over Harrison, but admittedly I don't know much at all about Harrison, where I had seen a lot of footage on Gattis and Wendling. At this time last year, I wasn't too keen on Owen Daniels, and look how that turned out. Other than that pick, I really like what they have done in the draft given that they didn't have a 2nd rounder. We hit all of our biggest needs thru the first 6 rounds.

Okoye is the immediate impact starter. Jones will be the push Mathis at KR, and contribute at WR and probably will eventually start. Fred Bennett was a great pick in round 4. He is a big guy, and now we have 2 S. Caroline CB's! He will push hard for the #2 spot by next year, and play in the nickel/dime this year. Fry was a guy I had my eye on as a developmental tackle, due to his quick feet and athleticism, but it's iffy if he ever is a starter, but may be a good long term backup. The Safety Harrison, and the Texas guard in the last two picks I can't say a lot about as I am not familiar enough with them, but I do trust our staff, and hopefully they can at least add depth.

Coming out of the draft, I would say our biggest deficiency is still at FS. I think Wendling or Gattis would have made this a near perfect draft, but again, our scouts know more than me, so let's give Harrison a chance and see what he can do. If nothing else, he adds depth to the secondary, and maybe he can play ST as well, which would be a bonus.

If Mason Crosby dropped to round 7, I think I would take him. He has a cannon attached to his leg. Another interesting prospect is Ben Patrick, the Deleware TE. Let's see what they come up with in round 7, and then we can sign a couple of decent FA's that have a chance to stick.

I love what the Texans have done this offseason! :splits:

Don't fuss Yank!! This has been GREAT!! I've been checking with the day 2 thread off and on all day and getting the info I wanted. It's been FANTASTIC not having to go through a zillion threads with half of them being "I hate the Texans" "fire Rick Smith and GK" "the Texans are stupid" etc, etc, etc. Mostly positive comments about all the picks, esp AO. Don't know if the mods are keeping it together or if the repeat thread makers are still at the other board, BUT, I LOVE it so far!!

Almost all of the positions are ones which we have a strong need for improvement. I have no idea about these lower round guys and their potential, but based on what Smith did last year in picking good street free agent talent, I don't see how you can't trust that he's done his research and made good selections.

Credit the board members.
Concur.

Though I could imagine it would have been crazy had the draft board been more controversial...you know if Peterson had been available for example.

I've never seen any MB like it was the night that the Williams pick was announced. Mass hysteria. It was right after that I felt bad that few media outlets wrote anything other than ridicule pieces about Williams. Whether or not he ends up being The Guy, you would think that somebody would write something more in depth than just he is a physical freak.
