Recap:
-Peterson says the shoulder/coller bone is ok/healed and that a 2nd surgery is not needed.
-He did indeed re-break it, the collerbone, during the Fiesta Bowl, more then likely due to coming back too soon.
-He says it was not a mistake to paly in the Bowl game.
-There is a rumor going around New York the Cleveland flunked him on the physical. Peterson says he was told he passed, denied this rumor pretty strongly.
-Worked out in Tempe at Athlete's Performance, with Russell, Quinn, and Lynch amongst others. They detailed everything from the work outs to the meals. Expensive camp, something like 15,000 to 20,000 for 2 months.
-The rest was about his personal life. Brother hit and killed by a drunk driver ,when he was 7, right in front of him. Dada in jail, and how that combined with his brother's death made growing up that much harder. Also talked about his half-brother being killed before the combine. Talked about his faith.
I'm cautious about the collarbone, but I really hope he fails to 10. His talent, plus maturity, plus his competitivness makes him a very special back.

He said he rebroke it due to coming back to early, which would be avoided in the NFL, espically during his rookie year.

If he passed muster with the Texans' medical staff then I am good if he drops and we select. All I know is that he scored a TD in overtime on a 25 yard run with a broken collar bone.

Agreed, but I would be both estatic yet somewhat worried if we took him. He has an upright running style similar to Chris Brown and Eric Dickerson. Brown has been an injury waiting to happen, but I don't remember Dickerson being banged up a lot, but someone can remind me othwerwise if I am wrong. I would be curious about that, as he reminds me very much of Dickerson in both style and overall talent.

He may very well have tried to come back too soon and I'm not going to be too critical of his doing so. He was in a unique position where he wanted to try and demonstrate that his injury should not be held against him where draft position was concerned and so maybe he made the wrong choice.
Ron Dayne and Ahman Green say that Adrian Peterson doesn't have to repeat his mistake next year if the Texans take him. If they do then I'll be good with that because I think he's worth the risk. If they don't I'm good with that too. Reggie Bush accomplished one thing where I'm concerned. The circus around his selection (or non-selection as far as the Texans are concerned) and the subsequent lack of performance from him re-taught me the lesson I'd forgotten about getting too excited about any RB not named Earl.
Since there was only one of those and we're not going to see his like again in our lifetime I'm not going to lose sleep over Peterson one way or the other.

If he was injury prone playing in college, then he will be injury prone in the pros. Of course he's going to say that his collarbone is okay. Of course he's going to say he's fine, and ready to go.
I don't wan't any "red flags" taken with the 10th pick. I want someone who comes the closest to being 'bust proof' . . . and Peterson ain't it.

The kid has had a really tough life, with all the tragedy with members of his family. Its a real credit to his courage and perseverance as he seems upbeat and positive.
As far as his reinjry, it obviously cuts both ways. Increases the uncertainty about him, but the chance of him falling to us also is elevated. Smith & Kubiak might be especially anxious though, given with wat they went thru with Dominick and his knee ?

I like Green/Dayne/Chris Taylor (yes, I know Taylor is still considered a longshot for serious PT) but I would have to take Peterson at 10 if he's there.
Look for us to draft Peterson/Landry/Okoye if they fall to us. A trade-down if we can get the right price, or possibly a guy like Leon Hall.

Peter King was just on Dan Patrick's show with a big ol' "Let the buyer beware" regarding Peterson, fwiw.
Now you see, that's what I find to be illogical about this. If he actually falls because of the injury concerns, why wouldn't you want, or even expect Smith and Kubiak to have the same concerns?

OU had him doing way too much. I think for a while he was doing punt returns. Texas' strategy was to kick directly to him so that they had the opportunity to crush them. IIRC, they got burned by that once, but usually they just wanted the opportunity to abuse him during a game.
